Feather jumped to his feet at the sound of footsteps behind him. Turning around, he prepared himself to fight whatever monsters had not been destroyed and were now coming after him. Slowly, the silhouette appeared in the blackness of the cave, forming into the shape of a person. Amy finally broke through the thick shadows, smiling warmly at him.
"It's okay, Feather," she reassured him. "It's just me."
He sighed in relief, smiling back at her. "Did you find something back there?"
Amy thought a moment before shaking her head. "No, it's nothing."
Feather nodded and turned back to the mouth of the cave. "Do you think it might be safe to leave yet?"
"It might, but we had better wait for someone to come get us anyway."
He nodded and they sat together, watching the dark skies outside of the cave. (A/N: For those of you that didn't catch onto this before… or if I didn't explain it… Mitsukai's mind looks like a desert… a really creepy desert with dark purple, cloudy skies and no life whatsoever and sandy grounds that stretch on forever… it's not a happy place… okay, just wanted to get that cleared up…) Suddenly, a small speck grew on the horizon, drawing their attention. After several silent moments of waiting, the speck became a silhouette. And soon that silhouette became Mitsukai.
They both stood. "Someone's coming," Feather yelled in delight. "Does this mean we're okay?"
Amy stayed silent, watching the figure carefully. Whichever Mitsukai it was, he was running at them fast. She couldn't see his face clearly yet, but she was still cautious of him. He was coming into focus quickly, but no one was following, leading her to believe that this was not the one they wanted to see.
Feather seemed not to notice that his question went unanswered, instead jumping up and down in his joy and cheering the Mitsukai to come quicker. Amy tore her gaze away from the form closing in quickly. She looked down at Feather, stepping in front of him.
"Stay behind me, Feather," she whispered, glaring at Mitsukai coming at her.
"Wha-why?"
She again didn't answer, but Mitsukai was almost upon them, his face twisted into a horrific, evil smirk that promised a slow, painful death to them both. He reached the mouth of the cave, but before Amy could move, he had disappeared, reappearing immediately by her side.
"Hullo dove," he sneered, grabbing her by the shoulders and pulling her away from Feather.
She struggled with all her might to get away from him, but the demon blood was too strong.
"Get away from her!!"
The demon blood's vassal glared disdainfully down at the little demon. He slammed Amy against the wall of the cave, never taking his eyes from Feather. The walls rumbled and shot forth small links and shackles that snaked their way around Amy's lithe form. They soon tightened, pinning her securely to the wall, giving the demon blood both hands free to grab Feather by his wings and pluck him from the ground.
"Let her go!!!"
Feather struggled vigorously against his captor, but to no avail. The blood's vassal shook him violently, pulling many feathers from the poor child's wings.
"You assume to order me about, you impudent fool," it sneered in his face. "I could end your life here, but I must admit," he paused, tossing Feather into the wall across from Amy, "you are needed alive."
The wall did the same to Feather as it had with Amy, trapping him in its earthy grip.
"What do you need him for," Amy yelled, fighting against the rocky bonds.
The blood turned back to her. "My, my, a little hasty, aren't we?"
She spit in his eye, causing him to snarl dangerously at her. "What are you going to use him for?!"
He continued to glare at her as if waiting, waiting for something. As Amy's mind mulled over that thought, she saw the silhouettes of several people in the mouth of the cave. Her heart leaped into her throat in elation. `They came!'
"Do not get your hopes up, wench," the blood-vassal snarled at her as if reading her thoughts.
He stalked over to Feather, holding a foreboding hand over his head, glaring down at him with that same evil smirk.
"Rat, Anger, Sar, someone, save him! Don't stand there! Blizzard, Fear? Please," Amy cried out repeatedly.
The forms did not move, only stood there, unmoving. Amy watched in horror as the demon blood began to glow an eerie crimson aura. But still, the mind-Mitsukai did not move from their spots in the cave's mouth. Feather wrestled hopelessly against the wall's hold on him, trying to get away from the demon blood.
"Become one," the blood-vassal yelled.
His aura flared, blinding Amy, but not before she caught the terrified look on Feather's face. After the light faded, she looked up to find only one form in the center of the cave, glaring ominously down at her through two spiteful, white, glowing eyes. She looked up the snout of a large, reptilian beast; spikes protruded from it's face, shoulders and hide; a long, winding tail curled about the cave floor; each of its four legs ended in a clawed paw, wielding four razor-sharp blades. Its hide was a shade of blood-red. The beast took a threatening step forward, the ground shaking beneath its massive feet.
Amy shivered as it opened its mouth and bent its head down in front of her. She saw rows upon rows of jagged, pointed teeth, made for ripping apart flesh; its forked tongue slithered from its immense jaws to run along her jaw before retreating back to its mouth.
"What ARE you," she yelled at it.
`We are the true Mitsukai…'
Its thunderous voice echoed in the cave. Or so she thought. Its mouth had not moved and she was not entirely sure that she had heard it.
"What do you mean?!"
`We are the true form of Mitsukai Hotogoroshi,' it boomed.
No, that voice was in her head, not coming from the monster's mouth.
The wall suddenly receded, letting her drop to the ground. Her head shot up to look at the giant fiend now looming over her. Its hot breath blew her hair from her face, causing her to look intently at where it was coming from. She squinted to look down the throat of the creature. Her eyes widened as she realized what she was staring at.
Jumping to her feet, Amy raced from the cave just as a blast of fire issued forth from the monster's mouth. She kept running after the fire disappeared. She could hear the beast's footsteps behind her, or more under her as the ground shook with each step it took.
"Return to reality," she screamed.
She was engulfed in a black void once more and soon found herself bolting upright in Mitsukai's room. Beside her lay Mitsukai, still bleeding from unseen wounds on his head. She scampered backwards, trying to get away from him. His body convulsed terribly before he quickly sat up. He craned his neck to watch her freeze in her tracks. Mitsukai sprang to his feet. Keeping in a crouching position, he slowly crept closer to her, white bleeding into his eyes as blood-red scales grew from his skin, slowing covering his face, neck, and arms.
"Mitsukai, please," she begged, "please, don't do this."
Hot tears began to stream continuously from her eyes. Unable to stop them, she simply wiped them away. Her hand shot back to her side as she lay onto the ground. Mitsukai placed a hand on either side of her face and a leg on either side of her hips, pinning her to the ground with no way to get away.
His eyes now shone a bright, eerie white as the large, crimson scales almost completely covered his body. His face was gradually elongating, his fingers becoming longer, stiffer as they turned from fingers to claws. The sounds of bones crushing and twisting ripped through the silent, night air as his body changed. Mitsukai began panting heavily. He suddenly raised his head, giving off a shriek like a giant bird of prey.
Amy cowered beneath his scaly body as his clothes were torn by his spikes and the alteration. Soon he was completely distorted into a smaller version of the beast from his mind. He swung his massive head back to gaze down at her, his hot breath caressing her cheeks.
`Hullo dove…'

Okay… I think that's longer than the last chapter, but I'm not sure. I AM aware of the fact that I have updated twice in one day… which I think is pretty good since I haven't updated in forever…
Happy Haunting,
