Thanks to all who reviewed...oh, wait, never mind, I though I saw a review there. C'mon guys, I want to hear what you think! Do you like it or not? It's so simple!!
Nothing too extreme in this chapter, so you don't have to worry…yet.
Disclaimer: I own nothing. Nothing, that is, except Skye. That's it, folks. I should probably also add that I don't own the title of this story either.
**Chapter Two**
It was dark, darker than usual in Slade's hideout. There was a steady drip of water somewhere in the shadowy depths. The buzz of the giant computer screen mingled with it and created a steady rhythm. Slade himself stood in front of the door to his sanctuary, waiting. She would be back anytime now.
He had sent Skye to go and assist the Titans; to earn their trust, and partly because he wanted to see how she fought. Slade wasn't sure where Skye had come from, or how she had found him. All she had said was that her information about his whereabouts had been pounded out of Terra. When he had questioned Skye about how she had known to ask Terra, she had said that she was “just that good.” Slade had been so impressed with her abilities that he didn't press the matter any further.
This girl and her extraordinary powers were more than he could have ever hoped for. Terra was next to nothing compared to Skye. Slade smiled to himself. She was perfect.
As if on cue, the door swung open, and the blond waltzed in, a large smile on her face.
“I suppose everything went well?” He asked, not really needing to know the answer. Her smile explained it all.
“Even better” she replied, flopping down on his char, one leg over the armrest. “You never told me Robin was so cute” she added, throwing him a sly look. Slade chuckled as he walked over and placed his hands on the back of his chair.
“And I presume you can handle the rest?” He said. Her smile widened.
“No problem.”
Yes, she was perfect.
“Man, am I starving!” Cyborg said, digging through the refrigerator for the biggest sandwich he could find.
“I'm too tired to eat” Said Beast Boy as he sunk onto the couch, immediately falling asleep. The rest of the Titans sat down on the most comfortable piece of furniture available. They were all completely exhausted.
The five teens had just returned from the most rigorous and confusing mission ever. Someone had stolen a piece of valuable equipment from a high security building, and didn't leave one piece of evidence. The Titans had searched all day and night and had turned up with absolutely nothing.
However, they were all pretty sure on one thing: Slade was behind it. No one but the hateful man was clever enough to pull off a stunt like that.
Then, another question had surfaced during the events of the past few days. Where was Terra? She hadn't been there since they had fought the slimy green thing. They had searched the city and the Tower with no sign of her. They had tried her communicator, but to no avail.
They were all worried, Beast Boy most of all. Robin looked over at the green boy's sleeping form. He looked content now, but when awake, the teen was in a constant state of worry. It bothered Robin to see him like this.
“I'm going to bed” Robin announced. What he needed was a good nap. It looked like everyone else did, too.
As Robin trudged to his room, his thoughts slipped back to the mysterious girl who had, well, saved their butts. He had been thinking about her quite a bit since he had first seen her three days ago.
The Boy Wonder had hit himself time and time again for not getting her name. The rest of the Titans had pummeled him with questions about her, Cyborg nudging him and winking the entire time.
Another thing was bothering Robin. How had she known who he was? It made him a little uneasy that she had known just when to show up, and knew exactly what his name was. Then, to appear around the same time Terra had gone missing was almost too much of a coincidence to let slide. Robin sighed.
“Why didn't I ask her for her name?” He asked his bedroom door, annoyed with himself. It remained silent however. Robin sighed again, pressing the button that would let him into his room. The door slid open with a swish. He walked inside, flipped on the light and turned to his bed, only to find someone already on it.
To be continued....
