Chapter 4

Two of a Kind

Zuko lead the girl down on bed. He hoped his uncle would hurry with the healer Kenna was very pail and her arm was still bleeding badly. The blood had seeped through the cloth around the wound and was dripping onto the sheets; he had her blood all over him. Zuko looked around the room, then seeing what he was looking for in a small cabinet. Quickly he grabbed a small boll; inside it was a green, think souse. After placing it on the bed next to her he opened the cabinet again and reached for a roll of bandage. The Prince gently untied the cloth he'd put on her arm. The blood darned out much faster from the stab wound. Placing a small amount of the souse on deep cut Zuko could already see the bloods pace slowing. Cutting some bandage, he dipped it into the souse and let it soak only for a second. Carefully as he could, rapped the bandage tightly around the cut on Kennas arm. Taking the rest of the bandage and covered the soaked bandage with it. Then looked back at his work, deciding he had done pretty well.
After another minuet or so Zukos' uncle came with a healer name Swar. Swar looked at the girl and her arm. Slight shook on is face, he didn't think the girl would be so young. As Swar looked over Kennas body he noted the blood that was on the sheets, and how pail she was.

“Did you fix her arm, my Prince?” asked Swar looking over the job Zuko had done.
“Yes, I bandaged it.” answered Prince Zuko. Swar was slightly surprised; the Prince had done well with her arm. All the healer had to do was wash her face with a damp towel.
“So tell me Prince Zuko, how did you no to put the herbs on the wound?” questioned Iroh as he saw Swar put the boll away.
“I've seen the healer but it on my wounds all the time.” Zuko looked over at his uncle.
“You were right, these are the same herbs. You are very smart.” Zuko wasn't listing to the healer talking. All that healer ever said was how brilliant Zuko was, and after a will it was annoying. Zuko know that if anyone ease had rapped up her wound the healer you be mad, but since it was him the Prince himself he seemed to think it okay.
“When will she wake up?” asked Zuko looking at the girl.
“She seems very tired; I should think it to be a couple of days.” Said Swar sounding like he really knew what he was doing.
“A couple day huh.” Said a very weak but sarcastic voice behind Swar, how jumped at least a foot into the air.
“Y-you're up!” Swar was barley able to say.
“Looks like it.” Kenna smiled at him, she was loving this!
“But… you can't be. Not yet!” Swars eyes were big. “A full grow man would have take at a day it wake up if he was in your condition!”
“Yes that might be… but incase it got passed you somehow, I'm not a full gown man.” Kenna corrected him. The look on Swars face made Prince Zuko want to laugh but he held it down. His uncle stiffened next to him in his attempts not to laugh trying not to laugh.
“No, you not even a boy! You're just a little girl, a creepy little girl.” Swar snapped at her.
“Swar, that was quite uncalled for.” said Iroh taking a step forward.
“But… she…” Swar started but was stopped by the glare he got by Prince Zuko. “My apologies miss.” He nodded to her and Kenna rolled her eyes. He turned to leave and said “do call if you need something.” And he was gone.
“You know dear child, you started that.” said Iroh smiling at her.
“Sorry.” Kenna shrugged smiling too. “So, were am I now?” she asked looking around.
“You a prisoner on my ship.” answered Zuko stepping forward too. Kenna looked up at him.
“Prince Zuko? I've heard much about you.” She was looking at his scare.
Aang had told her of him. He said that Prince Zuko had a bad scare over his eye, and his temper was just as bad.
“Yes that's me, but you needn't worry about what you've heard. I don't hurt women.” Said Prince Zuko
“Really!” Kenna had a tune in her voice that said `I'm going to leave the first chance I get' which Zuko caught right away.
“But I can learn too.” Zuko added quickly. He gave her a look that said `I hurt you if I have to even if it hurts me worse'.
“Right, never to late to learn.” She was smiling which kind of shocked Zuko; she really wasn't scare of him. That could be a problem. “So how are you?” she was looking at Iroh.
“I am Prince Zukos Uncle Iroh.” Said Iroh. Her mouth dropped a little.
“You knew my mother did you not.” she was looking at him in ah.
“Yes, I did.” She was smiling at her. Zuko was giving his uncle a weird look. He didn't know his uncle new her mother.
“She spoke kindly of you.” Kenna smiled to him. She was slightly scared before because of what Aang had told her about Zuko. But she knew Iroh was a kind man and she was sure that he wouldn't let anything bad happen to her.
“Do you remember your mother well?” Iroh was looking at the girl; she looked just like her mother. She even smiled to hide how she felt, but he was sure that she was happy to meat him. He and her mother were very good friends, she must have heard a lot of good things about him.
“I do.” She answered shortly.
“Good, she was a wonderful women and you father was great too. He was very kind to her and you. Tell me how old were you when she past way?” he was expecting her to say at least ten.
“Six, sir.” She was thinking he might be shocked by the answer, people seemed to think she was older then she really was.
“What? Six! But that means your only fifteen!” that answer had indeed should Iroh. Zuko also didn't think that she was fifteen; she looked so filled out for her age. It must have been all the running she did.
“Yeah, that right.” Kenna was laughing at there response.
“But then you're only a year younger then me!” said Zuko unable to hide his amazement.
“You're sixteen!” said Kenna, she stopped laughing. Talk about looking older then you are, she would have thought he was in his twenties.
“Don't any teens these days look there age?” said Iroh shaking his head. Then he started to laugh at the looks on there faces others finding out the others age. “Well I'm afraid I must go… I promised Swar I'd have tea with him.” and with a wave of his hand he left.
“So are you taking me to the fire nation?” Kenna asked looking at Zuko with know fear what-so-ever. Zuko didn't like that she wasn't even trying to hide fear, she really wasn't afraid of him.
“No, I said I don't hurt women, and sending them to there deaths counts as hurting in my opinion.” said Zuko with the slightest hint of sarcasms.
“Well, I wont argue… but then what would you what with me?” Kenna was confused, it didn't add up, if the didn't want the reward money, then why did they want her?
“You're friends with the Avatar.” Was all Zuko had to say for Kenna to get it was a trap. So her having friends did save her. Only know her friend was in big trouble, and it was her fault.
“Would you like to go to your room know, you don't look as pail as you did, and there is a hot meal waiting for you there.” Said Zuko looking at the door, he didn't like it in here, he spent many restless hours recovering in this room.
“Okay, in Kikeyo in there?” Kenna had been wondering of her, but could find the right time to fit it in.
“No, she is on her way home by know. This ship is no place for her.” Zuko say kennas face light up. This was just what she had wanted to hear, her cousin was going to be safe at home, not in some moldy cell.
“I'm glad to hear that.” Kenna was of course more then glad to hear it.
“Well, come with me I'll take you to your room.” He let out his arm to help her up, she took it and he pulled her out of the bed. Then he led her through that hall, down some stairs and to a door. He opened it and helped her to the bed (she was still dizzy from lost of blood). It was a really nice room. It had to big windows, a nice sized bed, and two comfy looking chairs.
Kenna was sitting in the bed. She couldn't believe how nice Prince Zuko was being. He had a healer fix her arm (she still didn't know that he done it himself), he saved her from Zhao, and he help he walk over here, and this nice room was a bit nice for a prisoner.
“Why such a nice?” She asked looking around then fixing her gave back on Prince Zuko.
“The cells are not… all the solders are down there, and… me and Uncle disgust it and thought that they weren't to be… trusted.” He had been looking for the right word so that it didn't sound to bad but she got the message.
“Oh!” she laughed, not what Prince Zuko had though she would do. He had only talked to her for a short time and he was already learning that she never did what he thought she would. He had been around very few women, but enough to know she was like none of them.
There was a knock on the door and a servant came in with hot food, and new close to replace the bloody ones she had on. Zuko left her to eat and change. Once her was in her new close she observed them on her. The weren't bad, at lest they fit well, but they weren't meant for a girl either. The shirt was a dark shade red with sleeves that stopped at her elbow just like the shirt she got blood on. And the pants were a light brown, and a bit lose. But not to the point were she was afraid the would fall.
Soon after she finished eating she was aloud to go to the bathroom. She was also given a hot bath, so she could was most of the blood off (sadly Kenna couldn't soak her arm with the bandages on, so some of the blood on her arm was still there when she was done. But she felt much better after the bath; maybe it was just the food kicking in at last.
Kenna was sitting on one of the chairs looking out the windows thinking about all that had happened. There was a sudden knock on the door. Kenna turned to the door and said “yes.” And the door opened and Prince Zuko and Iroh came in.
“I only came in to ask you if you would like to have some tea with me when lunch comes, I'm sure you have much to talk of.” Said Iroh who remained at the door smiling at her.
“That sounds great.” Kenna smiled back and waved and the old man left.
“And I came to see if your arm was okay.” Said Zuko walking up to her.
“It's fine” Kenna said shortly smiling at him. Her smile was contagious and it made
Prince Zuko want to smile back but he didn't he just looked at her arm. He was checking to make sure that blood wasn't seeking through the bandages, and no blood was seen.
“Good.” Prince Zuko really wanted to smile back at her but he wouldn't let himself, instead he just said, “do you always smile?” it was said before he could stop it, he just prayed she wouldn't remember.
Kenna laughed and was about to say `do you always frown' when she released the conversation had been said before… her had had it when she was twelve, the day before she was to die. She had it with the boy who saved her life. She then looked over the Prince standing in front of her. It was him! The boy how saved he! He was standing right there! Her mouth dropped.
“Shit!” Zuko swore under his breath.
“You… I…”she pointed at him then to herself, she was speechless. Then realizing that she was shuddering she pulled herself together. “You saved me when I was twelve! It was you!” to Zuko surprise again, she was smiling. Really smiling! Not forced, not weak, not fake! It was a real smile, she was happy!
“Yeah, I… I just didn't think it was far that you die because you where have earth have fire.” Prince Zuko confessed. She was still smiling. He couldn't believe it!
“Thank you, for saving my life that day. People always say the firebenders are the most evil people alive, they say that there heartless, but I never believed it. You told me that day that you weren't like the others, you had a heart!” she was laughing and smiling she was glad! Prince Zuko was very confused.
“People change, I had a heart.” He corrected her but she didn't seem to care. She was still looking up at him with a big smile on her face.
“Doesn't matter. The heart was there, you don't loose it, you berried it. But I don't care because you prove that firebenders aren't born evil. They don't start out live evil” Then Zuko got it, way Kenna was so happy with him. He meant that she wasn't evil. He was the resin she didn't give up with herself so long ago. Ever since she found out what she was she wanted to find someone like him. a firebender who had a heart. Even if it was a big HAD. After all she most likely could hardly remember her mother. But her mother did have a heart. So what made him so special? Maybe it was because he proved it by saving her at his own risk. As he looked at her face he became aware that he was smiling two. It was nice to smile at her… no, nice to smile with her.
