; The next morning, it was decided that the group take up a quest to keep them occupied. Deciding not to waste any time, Jatar gave the remaining members of their group a rude awakening.
"YOSHA! KOGASHI! WAKE UP! WE'RE LEAVING!" Jatar went inside his room and packed his essentials: a bleeder spear, scalper, tracking devices, etc. Taylin packed her cookies and other essentials into her bag.
"Must you be so loud in the morning?" she gave him an exasperated look. He just shrugged and headed off to the meeting area, just before the entrance. Taylin followed close behind.
"I'M UP! I'M UP!" Yosha rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, his white hair a mess and his greenish-yellow eyes barely seen underneath his eyelids. Kogashi was in the same state, his black hair and blue eyes showing off his tiredness.
"Those cookies gave me nightmares." Taylin glared at Kougashi's statement and rolled her eyes.
"Good. Get ready. We're leaving in five minutes, with or without you." Five minutes passed and the group was already out the door.
"I know there's a village not too far from here, towards the west. We can start there. Hopefully we can find stuff to kill." Taylin began to munch on her cookies, and received a quizzical look from Jatar. Taylin felt someone stare at her and looked up with puffy cheeks. She finiished off her cookie and smiled.
"Don't give me that look, Jat-kun." she smirked at him, and he chuckled in response.
"May I have a cookie?" Kougashi 'eeped' in response when Taylin gave him the glare of death. "...never mind."
They ran into trouble during their nature walk, but Taylin decided to handle it on her own.
"Alright boys, cover your ears." They all looked at her in confusion.
"Huh?" They all stated at the same time. Taylin transformed into her death form.
"Heard of the sirens of greek mythology?"
&n bsp; "Yeah, but why do you need that now?" Jatar asked.
"I will sing a song of theirs. It is very beautiful, but not meant for male ears. You'll see. Just cover them." They decided not to ask anymore questions and covered their ears.
"SONG OF THE SIRENS!" Taylin took in a deep breath and began singing, floating slightly off the ground. Everyone was surprised at the sight of their friend floating. They could only see her mouth moving, but knew better than to remove their hands. The ground erupts into spikes, and the monster began to walk towards the spikes and impales himself. Taylin floats back to ground while the spikes submerge. She detransforms and stops singing. She signals for them to lower their hands.
Without say, they were perplexed at what just occured, and continued their journey in awe an amazement.
After another hour of walking, Taylin alerted the group that they were almost there.
"Do you know anything about this village?" Jatar questioned.
"Well..." she tapped her chin in thought, while still munching on her beloved snack. "They have a temple, and rumors are that they have been plagued by a vengeful demon who wants to tear down the temple." They arrived at the village, only encounter a relatively quiet village.
"Maybe we should just head inside and investigate." The others nodded, all the while Jatar cloaks himself with his cloak. Taylin was surprised by this. "Why are you cloaking?"
"So that I am not spotted. My people are very stealthy." he answered, while uncloaking himself. Taylin sighed in response.
"What are you afraid of? Being attacked by townfolk or temple people? We'll be on sacred ground. Nothing is gonna attack here-" a rumbling sound was heard, cutting of her sentence. Taylin hung her head.
"I hate irony..."
Jatar glared at Taylin "You just had to say that, didn't you?" He took out his Kikutsu Blade and prepared himself for the immenent battle, as did the rest of the group.
"Sorry! Didn't mean to jinx us!" Taylin got into fighting position. The monster showed itself, a earthbound monster around ten feet tall and as thick as a redwood. Taylin created an energy bow and multicolored arrow.
"SOLSTICE ARROW!" The arrow hits the target, hardly making a real impact.
"GLORY STRIKE!" A wave of energy emerged from Jatar's blade and made a crushing critical blow to the monster's face. Kogashi and Yosha teamed up and dealt damaging combos to the monster, but even with their superior strength, the monster's hide was just too strong.
"Is it just me or is this monster really strong?"
"It's just you, Tay-chan." Jatar smirked at Taylin and threw a vile of acid out of a special launcher onto the monster, which covered its body. Taylin created a ring of light, about the size of her body.
"BEAM OF THE GODS!" she shot a mini beam through the ring, which amplified its power fifty fold. The monster was left with a whole in it's stomach.
"Wow I can see through his stomach!" the monster gave out an agonized roar. Pleased at her handy work, she celebrated with a cookie. Jatar pulled out something from his bag.
"This should finish him off. You might want to look away. It's kinda brutal." he warned. Taylin kept munching and eventually finished her snack.
"Nah, it's okay." she bit into another cookie.
"Well, you might not want to eat." Taylin stopped chewing momentarily, and swallowed her remaining cookie. "I'll have you know that this spear sucks out the vital organs and bodily fluids."
"Really? I wanna watch!" The group gave her a strange look. Jatar readied himself and lunged the spear into what was left of the demon's stomach. The spear began to suck out its organs and fluids, leaving the demon looking like a gooey mess.
"Pretty." Taylin watches on in amusement, while Kogashi and Yosha stood on the sidelines with their jaws almost touching the floor. The spear eventually sucks up the gooey demon, leaving behind its bones, miraculously in one piece. "That was wicked!" Jatar stalked over to the demon bones.
"Come here my pretty pretty pretty." The group gave him a strange look, until they found out what he was looking for. Jatar picked up a perfectly in tact demon head and placed it on his trophy belt. What's even stranger is that the demon head was small enough to fit onto the belt.
"Should've seen that coming. So shall we continue to the temple?" Taylin asked.
Jatar nodded in agreement. "Let's."
"Lead on." She turned towards the gaping duo. "COME ON YOU TWO! STOP GAWKING!" They were startled out of their stupor and turned towards the voice.
"What's up with you two? Never seen someone gruesomely kill something and take it's skull before?" Jatar asked. They just blinked in response.
Kogashi was the first to recover. "O-of course I have." Yosha decided to remain silent and blink in confusion. Jatar gave him a skeptical look.
"Sometimes I wonder."
"And sometimes I don't care." Taylin looks around the quiet village. "This place is quiet. What do you think, Jat-kun?"
"Yeah, you're right. Let me check something." Jatar fiddles with his hunter's mask. "I'll just check the area through all my vision modes. Hopefully I can figure out why it's so quiet."
'This reminds me of home.' A small smile graced her features. "You do that. But you know, I think it's quiet because the villagers are hiding." She munches on a cookie as Jatar finished fiddling with his mask.
"Nope. Nothing. I checked through all my vision modes. Infrared, thermal, electro, and predator/hunter techno mode. Trust me, if they were hiding, I would have seen them."
"Can you see underground?" They all turned towards Yosha.
"Hmm, if they have tunnels underneath the town, and if they have a temple, then no doubt they may have someone with the ability to create a protective barrier." Taylin and the rest of the group began to walk towards the temple. Jatar sensed something around them.
"WAIT!" Everyone stopped in their tracks and looked at Jatar who was growling low. "Something is...moving." He looked around cautiously, while everyone else frantically looked around.
"What do you mean? Where?! What's moving?!" Yosha asked Jatar worriedly.
"Everything. We're surrounded."
"By what? Cookies?" Taylin's eyes became hopeful.
"No, something far more sinister." Jatar responded. Taylin gasped in fear.
"Vegetables?!" Jatar slapped his forehead in frustration.
"No, enemies." Taylin drew a blank, then fear covered her face.
"Vegetables?!" Jatar fell over from her one-track mind.
"Try zombies, specters, and demons!" Taylin looked down.
"...fudge. I'll have to transform, don't I?" Jatar took out his bleeder spears and gets his retractable claws ready.
"Maybe, maybe not, it depends. I may even have to transform." he responded.
"Maybe I can use my Mirror of Hell on them." Taylin goes to reach inside her backpack, but was stopped by Jatar.
"For demons, maybe, but definitely not for specters and zombies. They don't have souls."
"Damnit. Guess I don't have much of a choice." Taylin closes her eyes and a black mist surrounds her. The rest of the group heads out to destroy the monsters that jumped out from the ground. Taylin's wings spread through the mist and a flurry of razor feathers took out half of the monsters. Jatar chopped off the heads of some of the monsters while Kogashi and Yosha were dealing with monsters of their own. Taylin raises her scythe.
"JAT-KUN, WATCH OUT!" After slashing a zombie he turns around. Taylin swooped down her scythe.
"SEMI-CIRCLE ATTACK!" A cloud of mini sickles hits the majority of their enemies.
"Thanks Tay-chan." Taylin nods her head in response. Jatar impales the ground with his blade.
"PREDATOR FURY!" The ground erupts into huge flames and engulfs the rest of their enemies. A eery smile covered Taylin's face.
"Beautiful." Kogashi and Yosha join the other two. Jatar grabs a surviving demon.
"TALK FOUL BEAST!" Jatar placed metal claws against it's throat. Taylin approached them.
"I suggest you do as he says." The demon growled at her. Taylin narrowed her eyes. "Or I'll take over." Her eyes turned black, and the demon squeaked in response.
"We were sent to destroy you by Ukaran and kill anyone in our way." The demon looked at Taylin in spite. "Especially the wench!" Jatar grabbed the demon's throat.
"YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU SLIMY PIECE OF SHIT! I'LL GUT YOU RIGHT NOW!" Taylin's breathing became ragged.
"Even in his death he still plagues us..." she said under her breath. She raised her scythe, while Jatar readies his claws. Taylin sliced the demon in half and Jatar slashed his throat. The demon fell to pieces. Jatar spit on its corpse.
"That'll teach you." Jatar went to work collecting the skulls from the other monsters. Kogashi and Yosha went around looting the bodies. Taylin stood in her spot.
"Why must you haunt us..." She said in a low breath. "I will kill.them.all." she emphasized the last three words, as her voice remained unnaturally steady. Jatar looked up at her.
"I know where they came from. There's an abyss not too far from here. That's where they reside." Taylin took in the new information and smiled.
"Then let's not waste any time." Taylin turned and headed outside of the village. Jatar gave her a quizzical look, as did Yosha and Kogashi. They followed behind her when they finished. Taylin turned back and looked at Jatar.
"Do you know how far it is?"
"Not too sure. All we can do is go to the next town." Taylin looked up at the sky, then back at Jatar.
"I can fly up and take a look." Jatar nodded and Taylin leapt into the air and took flight. She flew a bit to the left and surveyed the area below her. "IT SEEMS TO BE A FEW HOURS WALK FROM HERE. AT LEAST TWO." she shouted down the the group. Jatar gave her a thumb up and she landed gently back onto the ground. "At least we'll get to use our muscles."
"I guess that's the bright side." Yosha folded his arms and the group started walking. Jatar began whistling.
"Must he be a thorn in my side? Cold-hearted freak..." Taylin muttered underneath her breath. Jatar stopped whistling.
"Huh, what was that, Tay-chan?" Jatar asked. Taylin looked up at him.
"Nothing..." she continues to walk. Jatar looks at Taylin's back.
'Something tells me she's bothered about something...' he thinks to himself.
"Are we there yet?" Yosha asked. Jatar narrowed his eyes at him.
"Stop complaining."
Taylin turned her head slowly in Yosha's direction and gave him a dark glare. Yosha 'eeped' in response. Needless to say, he didn't talk the rest of the way to the village.
