Night's Silver Kiss
Chapter7
I snuck down not to be heard and stayed in the shadow of a corner. I began to look around the room but did not dare leave the safety of the shadows, for fear of cameras. After I found none, I began to think that this was Fai's room. It would make since because who would want to record one's self? Unless…to keep an eye on his prostitute! I quickly thought of any because I soon found that the young girl was fidgeting in her dreams.
“Mom…Dad…help me…” she moaned in pain. She was in cold sweat from the nightmare. After I decided I heard enough I tossed a little rock I had in my boot and threw it at her exposed arm, which made her slowly twitch awake. I guess she didn't feel the rock because she didn't look around for what hit her or who. I knew that sooner or later she's was going to find me so I decided to reveal myself.
“So, what's up with you?” I asked the girl. She was wrapped in bandages all over her body. Like she got in a fight and lost.
“W-Who's there?”
“Who me? Oh, you don't have to know my name. All you need to do is tell me what I want. I'll be sure to relieve you of your pain and suffering soon…” Just then I took out my sword and put it next to her neck. I wasn't going to kill her; I juts wanted to scare her to make her talk, is all. “Tell me where Fai's room is and when he'll be back…”
“His room is down the hall and it's the first door on the right…And I don't care what you do to me…If anything I want you to kill me…” she said in a depressed voice.
“What's your name?”
“Axel…Why would you care?” I was surprised how she acted and that she wasn't afraid of dieing. A girl my age. For someone who was helpless and didn't care if she died or not, she's pretty cute. Weird but cute.
“I guess you are right, I don't care…so cut the chit chat and tell me what I want to know and you shall be spared…” I lied in a menacing voice. I almost felt like Fai but remember that I wasn't going to hurt her, just save her. “And don't even try to scream…I'll slit your throat before the sound can even come out…”
“As if I'd scream…” she whispered as she tried to look away.
“HA! Don't even try to act like you don't care about death…only those who have seen death in action aren't afraid of death…”
“Oh, and I supposed you know…what do you know about death?” she cocked an eyebrow at me as those challenging me.
“Look girl, I've seen my family be slaughtered right in front of my very own eyes! Not only that, but the same people who killed my family ended up killing my best friend who was like family to me…so don't tell me I don't know death!”
“…I-I'm so sorry…I thought that you were just playing head games with me…I had no idea…I truly am a bad person who deserve to be here…that is why, I can die without saying a word…so please continue…” her sad words melted my hatred away and only brought pity.
“No…I'm not going to kill you…just tell me where Fai is and you can continue your life as if nothing at all happened…” I slowly lowered my sword and put it back in its sheath.
“Look, Mast―, I mean Fai, is not here…he left on some business…and I don't know when he might be back…I'm sorry…but may I ask why to lock the door and then sat behind her back so that she can have something to stop her from falling backwards.
“Well, I wouldn't know…maybe you wanted to have some of the `fun' that Fai has with me…not that I have any of it…”
“So you are a prostitute…”
“No, I'm not!”
“Then what is this `fun' you speak of? Don't tell me that Fai wasn't your first or is he?” I looked at her face and found a small glimpse of redness on her face before she turned away. “Well?”
“No…he's not my first…”
“Oh, Then who was?”
“No one…I…I-I'm still pure…”
“You're still pure and your in a whore house?!”
“You act surprised. Why? Do you find it strange?!”
“Well, I just thought that maybe Fai woulda already laid his fingers on you, is all…”
“He has…but not all the way….” She had her head hung low in a way that made me feel like I should drop the subject before she slaps my ass for acting like a retard because of my questions.
“Um…well, if you don't like it then why are you here?” I tried to change the subject.
“Because Fai kidnapped me…that's why…I didn't join because I wanted to run away…or to have fun…or to sell my body…I'm just a 17 year-old girl who wanted to be a ballerina on stage…who wanted to make her family proud…but all of that was ripped away from me when I ran into Fai…he ruined my hopes and dreams and everything! I wished I would have never went down that street or turned on that corner!”
She began to weep. The sound of her sobs made me feel pity towards her instead of myself. “I…I'm sorry…” I turned and wrapped my arms around her shivering body. She flinched as she felt my body touch hers but relaxed at the warmth.
“…thank you…” she smiled weakly as she gently placed her hand upon my arm. And in that moment, just for a flash, I knew how my mother felt when she wrapped her arms around me for the last time before she died.
