The man’s eyes began to water as he drove faster toward the demons. His entire persona radiated energy as the ground around him began to crackle with it.

I will make you proud of me . . . I will surpass you, but most of all . . . .
“I will destroy these demon’s and become stronger than you!” the man said as he stood up on his motorcycle. His eyes began to glow red as bat wings popped out of his back. His hands turned to talons and his teeth became fangs . . . but also . . . his whole body became electricity! He held his sword in both hands as lightning fanned the sky. Right before he reached the demon’s he charged up an attack.

“Lightning Vortex!” the man yelled as he launched a powerful shockwave of energy that eradicated all the demons, but also destroyed a lot of buildings in the process. As the smoke cleared there was already more demon’s taking the places of the fallen one.

“Shit . . . looks like it’s gonna be a long night.” the man stated as he jumped off his motorcycle back flipped over a demon, sliced it in half and incinerated another one with a lightning blast. He immediately launched himself high into the air and then came crashing back down with incredible force. His sword stabbed into the pavement as he charged energy into it. He then released lightning from the blade which conducted onto the street crispy frying most of the demons. Before he could get up however three of the smaller demons attempted to attack him from behind, but right as their claws were about to puncture his skin they were crushed by a giant hand made from the pavement.

“Never thought I’d see you again.” the man said his head still looking toward the ground. “Long time no see Jamie.”

Jamie was hovering behind him on a rock platform as she created an enormous wall to keep the demons out.

“No time for a reunion, I’m not sure how long that wall will keep them at bay. So, what are you going to do now Lyle?” Jamie asked as she looked down at Lyle. Her face was cold and emotionless, showing no sign of love . . . or weakness. All emotion and all hope had long since been drained from her as she cried every night for the one she loved.

“What do you mean what am I going to do? I’m going to kill them just like last time.” Lyle said as he charged up for another attack.

“You know that’s not what I mean.” Jamie said, sounding a little disgusted.

“Okay first off you need to lighten up. Second off, no I don’t know what you mean.” Lyle said as he stared into her eyes. “What’s going on Jamie?”

“I don’t know. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I came to get you first though, but you don’t have to come if you don’t want to. It’s not like last time, something changed . . . ” Jamie whispered as she looked at Lyle. “He wasn’t supposed to die, none of this was supposed to happen!”

Lyle looked into her eyes and saw a flicker of emotion as some of the pain she had kept to herself for the past ten years began to come out.

“Jamie . . . I. . . .” Lyle stammered. It was then that the wall broke. The demon’s flooded in as they aimed to rip both Jamie and Lyle apart. Lyle nodded at Jamie as they took positions behind one another as they instantly fell back into their familiar fighting patterns. Lyle slashed and blasted away at demons’ as Jamie sliced and diced them with her whip. Lyle sliced a demon in half as he grabbed another by its head and vaporized it with electricity. Jamie decapitated a demon with her whip and then pierced another demon through the chest with a very large spike.

“We’re not getting anywhere with this. Jamie take to the air!” Lyle yelled as he charged himself full of energy. Jamie launched herself high into the air on a stone slab as she saw Lyle turn back into pure electricity.

“Looks like you’ve learned some new tricks.” Jamie commented to herself as she watched Lyle place both hands on the pavement.

“Get ready to run. This won’t kill them, but at least we’ll be able to make a good escape.” Lyle yelled. He channeled electricity through the street once again, except this time it was much stronger. The resulting force fried a good amount of demons, and the remainder were momentarily stunned.

“Okay let’s get out of here.” Jamie said as she prepared to fly off. She then noticed that Lyle hadn’t transformed to his dark form.

“I’m going to need a lift, that takes a lot out of me.” Lyle joked as he rubbed his head. “Whoa!”

Jamie elevated Lyle to her height on a piece of the sidewalk. Lyle got onto her slab as she flew them through the night sky.

“So you don’t know what the Hell’s going on do you?” Lyle asked as he sat down.

“I’m afraid not. I don’t have the slightest clue. But if we’re going to stand a chance against whatever’s going on we’re going to need to find the rest of the team.” Jamie said solemnly.”It’s going to be harder this time around without him.”

“Who know’s, he might come back. I mean if this is Death we’re dealing with, then surely Alex would have to come back. Remember can’t be Death without Life.” Lyle said deep in thought. It wasn’t until he felt the wet tear hit him that he realized what he had said.

“Jamie . . . I’m sorry . . . I mean . . . ” Lyle couldn’t find the right words to say as he hugged Jamie tightly.

Alex . . . I wish you were here right now. You’d know what to say to her. But then again if you were here, she wouldn’t be so upset.

“I’m sorry Lyle, it’s just been so long since I’ve heard his name. And then all that’s going on . . . and seeing you again.” Jamie mumbled as she wiped away her tears.

“Hey, it’s okay . . . I don’t mind.” Lyle said as he sat down again. “Now . . . let’s go find the others.”

In a village deep in the woods.

“Sasuka watch out!” Ashley yelled as she launched a vortex of energy at a demon. She then launched both her daggers at a demon and flipped over him. With her back to him she grabbed both her daggers and ripped them out of its sides. As she brought her arms to her chest she launched out an enormous fire blast incinerating the demon in front of her.

Sasuka landed right beside her as he sliced a demon into bits with a wind blast. He launched both his cross blades in a wind tunnel decimating numerous demons on all sides of him.

“Heads up!” Sasuka yelled as he created a shield of lightning to protect both him and Ashley from a demon with wings that tried to sky bomb them. The shield vaporized any demon that touched it, until one of the larger demons managed to break through it. As soon as the shield was broken Ashley launched herself high into the air. She connected the hilts of her two daggers together forming a double bladed staff. She then spiraled downwards toward the demons, creating a twister of fire as she went. She incinerated all the demons beneath her, but before she could recover more demons began attacking her from behind. Sasuka vaporized some with his lightning blast, others he decimated with his cross blades.

“This is ridiculous. We can’t keep fighting much longer.” Sasuka yelled as he was thrown backwards by a large demon.

“Yeah, but we can’t exactly retreat either, we’re sort of cornered you know. And neither one of us can fly, you’ve used up too much of your energy to even attempt it right now.” Ashley responded as she decapitated an enemy next to her.

“Tsk, tsk, you sound just like a married couple.” Lyle stated hovering above them. “Oh wait, you are a married couple . . . eh it still doesn’t make it okay.”

“Lyle!” Ashley exclaimed, glad to see her friend again.

“Heh, long time no see. Would you mind giving us a hand instead of floating there like a jack ass though.” Sasuka said with a smirk as he used a powerful wind blast to keep the enemies back.

“Fine, fine, you drop by for a friendly visit and what do you get. Ridicule, demons, bloody chaotic battles . . . good times . . . good times.” Lyle said as he lifted both Sasuka and Ashley high into the air.

“Okay Jamo, do your thing.” Lyle yelled as soon as he got them off the ground. Out of no where Jamie appeared. Suddenly, the ground beneath all the demons collapsed creating a giant chasm. All the demons were immediately plunged into the chasm as Jamie closed it back off, closing their way out.

“We better hurry, I don’t know how many of them are teleporters.” Jamie announced as she flew next to them on her rock.

“JAMIE!” Ashley exclaimed again as she ran over and hugged her.

“Heh, so looks like you’ve been through the wringer to huh?” Lyle asked as he flew with Sasuka.

“Yeah, any idea what’s going on?” Sasuka asked, not wanting to bring up the possibility that Death might be back.

“No idea, best bet is to round up the rest of the Guardians and go from there. Which reminds me, since when did you get lightning powers?” Lyle asked.

“Oh yeah, I got in a fight with some drunk who had the lightning element a while back. He attacked a hospital and anything that moved. Of course the resulting battle you can tell ended up in me killing him and gaining his power.” Sasuka replied as he looked up at Lyle. “But that still doesn’t explain what a human is doing with elemental powers. Because trust me, he wasn’t an elemental, he was an average human.”

“Hmm, we’ll have to ask Sara about that, she knows more about that stuff.” Jamie said listening in on their conversation.”Our next stop is the mountain of the twin dragons.”
