~~Chapter 2: Heartbreak~~

A week past and things got relatively worse with her father. On the other hand things at school had gotten much easier. Mike seemed to actually be interested in her, even though he didn't seem to spend much time with her, but she just shrugged it off, thinking herself to be too clingy to her first actual boyfriend. The dance was tonight, and she was so excited. She could just imagine her and Mike dancing slowly and she secretly imagined getting her first kiss. She blushed as she left the lunch line to go find her best friend Michelle. She sat down next to her and Johnny and started talking about the dance. "So I take it you two are going together?" Michelle blushed and nodded. "Well, you'll never guess who I'm going with." They looked at her questioningly. "I'm going with Mike Wellers." Michelle and Johnny looked at each other out of the corner of their eyes. "What?"

"Nothing, I just heard he asked some one else to the dance Already. But you never know, lots of girls make up gossip like they're gonna go with him." She said nervously. Andy looked puzzled. She shook her head and smiled.

"You just watch, I'm gonna show up tonight and we're gonna dance and lots of other things. He asked me personally, just before lunch not to long ago." They nodded again and changed the subject to their new dresses for the dance. "My dress is a soft blue satin that goes all the way to the floor and it has embroidered flowers on the top, it's so pretty."

"Mine is a soft reddish pink, and it comes to mid calf with straps that crisscross on the back."

"Ohh, that sounds so pretty." They stood and walked to their different classes as they heard the bell ring. The day seemed to drag and take forever. Soon enough she was running home and getting ready for the dance. He father came home as she was getting ready. He grunted a hello and went straight to his room to change. She looked down at the floor with a torn, hurt expression. He came out just before she was ready to leave. "How do I look dad? Do I look ok?" she nibbled her lip in anticipation.

"You look ok." He said over his shoulder as he was walking to the kitchen leaving a very hurt Andy in his path. She blinked back the tears that threatened to fall and grabbed her purse so she could go. She gave a last glance at the house and walked out the front door to the small car she would drive there. She climbed in to the car and drove to the building, still blinking back the tears from earlier. When she pulled up she smiled to herself picturing herself dancing with her date. She waited outside the door for Mike, and soon saw him pull up in his car. He got out and opened the passenger door and helped out a dazzling looking brunette from his car. Andy's smile faded from her face as she watched them walk from the car arm in arm. He walked up in front of a group of a people and noticed her stricken look. He smirked to himself and walked up to her.

"Hello Andy." She had a puzzled look on her face. "Allow me to introduce my date. Bonnie, Andy. Andy, Bonnie." He noticed the confused, hurt look on her face. "What did you actually think I was serious when I asked you here? Ha. What would I want with a sophomore? A piece of advice, learn what is a joke and what is real kiddo." He said over his shoulder as he walked in, `Bonnie' laughing on his arm. The group behind him stood around her snickering to themselves. Some pointed and some grabbed their stomachs to try to ease the laughter. The tears from earlier, combined with the humiliation from now, spilled out of her eyes and down her cheeks. She took off running to her car and jumped in, trying to dry her eyes enough to drive home. She pulled up to house and sat in the driver seat for what seemed like forever, crying her eyes out. She pulled out her compact and looked at her puffy red eyes in her mirror. She dabbed at her cheeks and shoved it back in her purse when she was satisfied with what she saw. She opened her door and made her way to her front door. She opened it to find her father reclined on the couch. He looked at her and glared.

"Knocked up yet?" her eyes filled with tears as she shook her head no. She walked to her room and shut her door. She wobbled over to her bed and flung herself down crying until she fell asleep.
