S.O.S.-Prologue

September 7, 2040

Smoke billowed in the air as beings of all different shapes, colors, and species went through the bar. Most people would consider this building a dive. However, the worn walls, faded stools, and bright neon lights leant a certain charm. A couple of pool tables were sprinkled throughout the place. An ancient jukebox sat in a corner of the room. The lizard-man bartender passed out the drinks to the customers with frightening efficiency.

A tall, toned, busty young woman sat at a table in a corner of the room. She was sipping a green alcoholic beverage. The woman was in her mid twenties with raven-colored hair flowing to her waist. Amber eyes watched people walk in and out of the bar in boredom. The woman was waiting for her middleman/informant. He told her about jobs that needed to be done. It had been two long weeks since she had a job. Quite simply, it was time to get some credits and stave off eviction. Besides that, she was getting antsy and bored. She needed to keep her combat skills in tip-top shape.

The woman was attired in a tight black t-shirt/leather pants combination. A laser pistol was on her right hip. Of course, a woman couldn't leave the house with black boots. Felicia "Sister of Strife" Morgan smiled to herself as her thoughts turned toward her informant. Doc was dependable for three things, finding her good jobs, looking at her chest and helping her get with women that shared her tastes. She wasn't necessarily a freak, just a girl who liked to sample both sexes. The problem was that she was always too busy to actually spend time to date. Hence, another part of Doc's job description. She supposed that the little freak couldn't help but stare at her beauty. No woman in her right mind would go out with a mongoloid like him. He didn't have much social grace, he always dressed shabbily, and his grooming habits were substandard to say the least. Then again, she shouldn't be so hard on him. Doc had helped her out more than one occasion. He was there when for her after her partner Alexandria Pratt got killed.

Alexandria Pratt was the other Sister of Strife. Alex was one of the few people that really identified with her. Alex was brash and tart-tongued, but she had a more feminine side than her. She was always the brains of the operation, supplying the latest stealth equipment and devising the best way to get the job done. Felicia missed those green eyes always looking at her in merriment through her glasses and her ethereal frame. You couldn't miss Alexandria with her shock of sapphire hair. It was amazing to see her pound down alcohol. Then again, little people always seemed to have a pretty high alcohol tolerance. Alex was probably 5"2 at the most. They had earned a reputation throughout the cosmos as the Sisters of Strife. If you called on S.O.S., it was guaranteed that the job would get done. Some of the best times in her life were had during her time with Alexandria. Killing people and getting artifacts was fun. But all of the fun stopped in an instant.

Petr Radoniv, a shady kingpin had hired them to kill one of his business rivals. There was nothing unusual about the request. Everything went off without a hitch. The old bastard took two plasma blasts in the chest. Felicia could remember the look of shock on his face as they burst into his office. Apparently, he was confident that no one could get through his defenses. It was child's play to get out of the man's mansion. A couple of hours later, they went to get paid by Radoniv.

Felicia growled low in her throat as she started to remember what happened next. Radoniv, the smug bastard laughed in their faces and decided not to pay them for services rendered. The goons he brought with him managed to overpower them and put them in a prison. A couple of months later, he shipped them to a planet that specialized in gladiator events. He forced them to fight for him and bet on their outcome. They couldn't throw the fights because the only way to win and stay alive was to kill your opponents. Eventually, they got off the planet and went on a hunt to destroy Radoniv in any way possible, ruin his business, his family, anything. Radoniv succeeded in retaliating against them, killing off many of their family members.

The end came for Alex when she was coming back home after a long night of drinking. Alexandria was very drunk, so she climbed into a cab. Two men were in the cab with her. These men were hired by Radinov to follow Alex and kill her. Alex didn't have a chance. Tears fell from Felicia's eyes as she remembered seeing the picture of Alexandria's bloodied body on the front page of the video newspaper. A grin came over her face as she thought about how she had killed Radinov a month later, spreading him out in a crucifix, shooting him a couple of times and letting him bleed to death. But his death wasn't going to bring back Alex.

A piece of her soul died with Alexandria's death. Now she was cold and distant to most people. It wasn't worth it to be happy. All she cared about now was to maintain her reputation in the underworld and keep her apartment. She closed her eyes and let the pain wash over her body. Anguish and suffering was a familiar part of her life. A tap on her shoulder made Felicia open her eyes.

Felicia opened her eyes and saw Doc standing beside her. Felicia groaned, "It's you."

Doc replied in a droll tone, "Hello to you too." Doc was a stocky and attired in a greasy white t-shirt with torn khakis. His red hair was dirty and unkempt and his shoes were dirty. Doc was short, barely reaching 5 feet.

Felicia sighed and remarked, "You finally got your sorry ass out here? I've been waiting here for four hours. I told you to be here at noon, and here it is 4 o'clock in the afternoon."

Doc shrugged, "Shit happens, doll-face."

Felicia growled and grabbed Doc by his shirt, saying, "Do not act so damn smug with me!"

Doc looked at the ample bosom displayed to him as she held him by his shirt collar. He remarked, "You know, I've seen those breasts for a while now. I have to know, are you smuggling midgets in there or something?"

Felicia's face mottled in rage as she threw him down to the floor and pummeled him into the ground. Doc groaned as Felicia got off of him, dusting herself off with a look of satisfaction on her face.

Felicia picked him up and set him down in the seat across from her. The raven-haired woman said, "Are you done now? You're lucky that I need you right now."

Doc's pallid face was filled with red welts from the punches he took. Doc smirked and said, "Stop it, we both know that you can't live without me. Besides, I've been there for you when you needed help."

"That doesn't mean you have the right to leer at me."

Doc scoffed, "Please, with the body you have I'm surprised you can walk down the street."

She snorted, "I know I'm beautiful. So be a good boy and tell me what my assignment is."

Doc grinned, "I'm honored to tell you that your next mission is to go eliminate Widowia Magowan."

Felicia whistled, "Wow, she's the prime minister of the planet Zatgang."

"Correct, I'm surprised that you even read the front of the newspaper. I would've pegged you as a sports and video screen gal myself."

Felicia smirked, "I'm a woman of many talents. I'm assuming that the person who's hiring me is one of her rivals in the government."

"Yes, his name is Ray Magrane. Mr. Magrane is the leader of the minority senate in the parliament. If Magowan gets killed, he would be the best bet to take over her position."

"Cool, I hadn't dealt with a political leader in a while."

"That's true, you're lucky that Ms. Magowan is here visiting our fair city."

"She must have done something wrong to have to visit this hellhole called Leacucus."

"I know, but Leacucus is an important city. This hellhole is one of the great trade centers in the universe."

"Yeah, yeah. So how much am I getting paid?"

"200,000 credits."

Felicia's amber eyes widened at that remark. She knew that 200,000 credits would be more than enough to pay the rent, get food, and hell even spring for some ammo.

Felicia asked, "So how am I supposed to kill her?"

"C'mon, she and her cronies are having a black-tie affair at the Leacucus Tower tonight."

Felicia grumbled, "Damnit, I hate those things."

Doc retorted, "What's the problem? A tomboy like you needs to act like a real woman once in a while."

"Shut up, troll boy!"

Doc smirked, "No need for insults. Be a good girl and dust off your best cocktail dress for the party."

"What a minute, can anyone get in?"

"You know better than that. There will be security there. But I have that taken care of." Doc rummaged in his pockets and pulled out a picture. Felicia took the picture and saw a young woman that had the same body shape as her. The main differences were that the woman in the picture had her blue hair in curls and was wearing a short cocktail dress.

Doc said, "Her name is Della Optiwan. She's a minor official in Leacucus's government." Doc reached into his pockets and handed her a black sphere. The man continued, "All of her information is in this sphere. You're going to take her place for the evening."

Felicia touched the sphere and a holographic dossiere appeared in front of her eyes, detailing Della's job description, likes, dislikes, etc. Felicia read the information and groaned.

Doc smirked, "What's the problem?"

"I think you know what the problem is, you bastard. She's a secretary for the city, but from what I read all she knows how to do is suck dick for a living."

"Now, now. You shouldn't cast stones like that."

"To hell with that. She likes that old anime Sailor Moon for chrissakes. She intimates how she holds the city by her amorous exploits with the mayor. Have you seen the mayor?"

"A fine, upstanding man."

"More like a decrepit old man who uses drugs to probably keep his dick up."

Doc shrugged, "Hey, I've got to give credit to the guy. From what I've understood, he's had some of the best pieces of ass in the world."

"Because of his position. YOU could get some loving if you had the power he did."

"There you go again, disrespecting me."

"Can you give me a reason why I shouldn't talk shit about you?"

"Sure, you know I've been hooking you up with a steady stream of lovers as of late. I can stop doing that."

Felicia sighed, "I'm sorry. But let's not forget that you get some money from me for every job I do. You have shit to worry about too."

"That is true, but I get money from other sources. Since you've killed Radinov, your work has been declining."

"I know, I know. People who were loyal to Radinov have been on my case. Because of this, I haven't been getting many jobs to kill, steal, or be a fine, upstanding girl Friday (jack-of-all trades)."

"It'll be okay, sweetheart."

In a droll tone, Felicia answered, "Thanks for your concern. So when's the dinner?"

"8:00, although you have to be there at 7:00."

"Joy, I probably have to make small talk with boring old men."

"Look at it this way, at least you won't be drunk off your ass."

"I like being drunk. It's a lot better than being cooped up at a stuffy dinner."

Doc got up and said, "Have fun, sweet cheeks."

Felicia took a swipe at him. Doc dodged the swipe and walked out of the bar.

Felicia sighed and got up from the table. She looked at her watch and saw that it was 4:30. She had some time to get ready and go. Felicia walked over to Bernie, the bartender and paid for her drinks. Bernie hissed, "You and Doc going steady, Felicia?"

Felicia grimaced, "No, we're not. He's just a business associate." Felicia leaned over and gave Bernie a hug. Felicia said, "I always did like big lizards. See ya later." Bernie blushed as he watched Felicia walk out of the bar. He'd known her for a long time and was one of the few people that she was friendly too. It was really a shame that he wasn't human. She was the type of woman that he liked. He could tell that Felicia was in a lot of pain over Alexandria's death. But he couldn't do anything to help except give her alcohol. Bernie sighed and gave the Minotaur at the end of the bar his drink.

Felicia stepped out of the bar and sighed at the surroundings. She wondered if ghettos in other places looked like this. Bombed out cars lined the streets and crumbling buildings stood like old sentinels of a forgotten time. As she walked past all of this, she saw cars flying in the air above her. For some reason, the orange sky always gave her some hope. She could have ridden her hoverbike to the bar, but why bother when the bar was only a couple of blocks away. Leacucus was probably like any other place, some good and some bad. Felicia grinned sardonically as she made it to her apartment complex. It was an old, gray three-story high-rise apartment. Felicia opened the door and entered the complex.

Felicia grumbled as she climbed up the stairs to her apartment. It annoyed her to no end that the place didn't have an elevator. Carrying groceries up three flights of stairs was a bitch. Felicia got to the top floor and smiled as she saw that her nobody else was here. This floor was one of the craziest places she'd ever been. All-night parties, orgies, you name it. While she liked to participate in debauchery once in a while, now wasn't the time. Besides, it was guaranteed that if Roger were around, she would end up bullshitting with him about life in general. Felicia walked past the rooms to her own apartment at the end of the hall. Felicia opened the black door and stepped inside.

Felicia looked at all of the beer cans surrounding the kitchen sink and frowned. It was time to clean up. A small table and a couple of chairs were in the kitchen. Felicia looked in the living room and saw her small laptop computer on the magazine table. She liked to visit special sites, but now wasn't the time. A 12-inch television sat in front of a black leather lounge chair. A couch was right beside the chair. Felicia walked past the small living room into her bedroom. A guest room and the bathroom were beside her bedroom. Felicia's bedroom was fairly simple, with a bed, a closet, and a small radio on the dresser drawer.

Felicia went to her closet and pulled out the one dress that she owned. It was a black, strapless dress that fit her well. Alexandria made her buy the dress after she had lost a bet with her over a baseball game. The damn second baseman couldn't turn a double play and that led to her team losing on a 3 run home run in the 9th inning. She took off her clothes and put on the dress. After that she put on a pearl necklace, a pair of high heels, put her hair into curls like Della and slipped a small knife into her purse. She went over to her dresser and pulled out a small remote control. Felicia put the remote control over her head and pressed the red button. Her hair changed from brown to blue. Felicia grinned as she thought about how this little piece of technology could change her hair color. This thing helped keep her one step away from Radinov's followers. She was glad in this case that it only lasted for a couple of hours. Felicia hated the fact that Della had such a tacky hair color. Felicia stepped out of the room and left her apartment.

Felicia walked out of the complex and went to the parking lot. She looked with fondness at her pride and joy. Supple curves and power were held in its frame. A black hoverbike sat in front of her. The seat was huge and the bike itself was long. The name of the bike was Raven. Felicia slapped on a pair of yellow-tinted shades and got on the bike. She always loved the purr of the engine as she hit the throttle and raced out of the parking lot.

She probably could've gotten to the tower by taking a cab, but she loved to ride her bike whenever possible. The wind flying through her hair always gave her a shot of adrenaline. Besides, Raven was one of the fastest vehicles on this planet. It could reach 400 mph easily. As she navigated through the traffic toward the tower, she thought about her mission. It sounded simple, just screw around for a while and wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. She'd probably kill the sainted prime minister after she got done with her speech and everything.

The black Seacucus Tower rose in her vision. The tower was set up like the old Eiffel Tower on Earth, except there was a circular building at the top. That was where the party was going to be held. A couple of minutes later, she flew back down to the base of the tower and parked Raven in the parking lot. Felicia smoothed her hair and collected herself. The doorman opened the door and she entered the tower.

Author's Notes

Well, this was supposed to be chapter one in this series, but I just couldn't quite get the juices flowing so I thought it would be better to stop here. I think that I've got an acceptable sci-fi/futuristic feel going and that I introduced our main character decently. Ch. 1 will have Felicia at the party and trying to complete her mission to kill the prime minister. Hope people like the prologue.

In any event, I wish you all

Love, peace, and hair grease
