4: The Beginning
“Get out of here Hydra,” Robin threatened ring out his Bo Staff.
Hydra smiled, “Or what? You'll hit with your stick?”
Cyborg's arm changed into his Sonic Cannon, “We've got a lot more then just sticks.”
Hydra began laughing, “I highly doubt that any of you can do as much damage as Draco.”
“You may be surprised,” Starfire said getting ready to fire Starbolts.
“A show of defiance,” Hydra said humor laced in his voice, “How cute.”
Hydra suddenly grimaced as a spike of shadow pierced his shoulder. The spike pulled out and Hydra turned to see where it had come from. The black tentacle retreated into Devin's coat.
“I see you've picked up Draco's insanity,” Hydra said fear in his voice.
Devin smiled wickedly, “Nope. My mate is in here. I'll do anything to protect her.”
Hydra growled and slowly moved back toward the window he'd come in. Before he jumped out the window he turned back to the Titans.
“This is far from over,” Hydra said glaring at the Titans.
He jumped out the hole in the window. The Titans rushed over to the window and watched as Hydra flew off into the night.
“This is starting to get on my nerves,” Devin growled.
Hydra landed outside the building were he and Leo where hiding out. Someone stepped out of the shadows behind him. Hydra reeled and threw the weighted end of his chain at the person. The chain wrapped around the persons throat. Hydra yanked on the chain pulling the person into the light. The man was dressed in black armor with a black and orange mask. The man was trying to unwrapped the chain around his neck. The chain suddenly fell away and Hydra reeled it back in.
“You're even stronger then I thought,” the man said.
“Tell me who you are before I kill you,” Hydra hissed.
The man stood, “My name is Slade. I've come to give you and your friend a business proposition.”
Hydra walked toward Slade, “We serve only Chaos. I'm in a bad mood right now. You've got 10 seconds before I gut you.”
Slade turned tail and ran as fast as he could. He almost wet himself as he ran. Hydra
turned and walked into the building. A box was sitting in the middle of the large room. Leo sat off to one side.
“How much longer?” Leo asked.
Hydra put his hand on the box and smiled, “One more day. And He will walk again.”
The next day Devin went to the hotel that Draco, Tigris, and Lupus were staying at. Draco opened the door when Devin knocked.
“Mind if I come in?” Devin asked with a smile.
“Sure,” Draco said.
Devin walked in and sat in a chair while Draco leaned against the wall. Lupus and Tigris sat on the beds.
“Last night a friend of yours paid us a visit at Titans Tower,” Devin said.
“Hydra,” Draco stated.
“Yep. I managed to get rid of him by piercing his shoulder.”
“They're nothing but bullies. Show them that you're not afraid to die by breaking the rules and they run off.”
Why are they picking on the Titans though, Draco thought, Could they know about the legend as well?
“What are we going to do?” Tigris asked.
“We're going to go stay with the Titans. It has to be almost time,” Draco said.
“Then let's go,” Lupus said standing up.
When they reached Titans Tower they went straight to the living room. There the Titans were waiting for them to arrive.
“Hey guys,” Devin said.
Devin sat next to Raven and the two began cuddling. Draco dropped his bag on the floor and turned to look out one of the windows. Lupus stood near Draco. Tigris sat off to one side. The Titans sat around the couch. Draco turned around and looked at them.
“By now Devin has told you what we are,” Draco stated.
Raven looked at him, “Devin told me but I don't think he's told anyone else.”
“I see,” Draco glared at Devin, “I suppose I'll have to tell you. Tigris, Lupus, and I represent three virtues. Honor, Courage, and Loyalty. We've existed since the dawn of mankind. We've been fighting three sins. Greed, Hate, and Pride. All of us, how do I put this? We feed off mankind. The more Honorable, Courageous, and Loyal people are, the stronger we are. The more Greedy, Hateful, and Prideful people are, the stronger they are. And since you can't be both Honorable and Greedy, you understand.
“We all had guardians, but last time we fought we lost. Our guardians gave there lives so we could come back. We fought again and won, but this time I fear we may not win. And if we do it will be mankind's fault.”
“So you're just giving up without even trying?” Robin stood up his anger getting the better of him.
In a flash Draco had Robin by the throat, “Don't dare impugn my honor boy! I would rather die on the battlefield with my honor intact, then to live with my honor butchered. Do you get it!”
Draco dropped Robin. The Titans all looked up at Draco. The way the light was shining in through the window it shadowed his front. The whole thing gave him the look of a monstrous angel.
Now we see your true character, Raven thought, Now I see why they call you Draco. You're a dragon.
Across town the black box began shaking. Hydra and Leo looked toward it. A smile graced Hydra's lips as he watched. The lid of the box was blasted up. It fell to the ground with a loud clank. Black flames billowed from the box. As Leo watched a cold shiver went down her spine. She'd always hated it when he came back. A figure rose out of the box the black flames becoming an aura around him. His eyes snapped open, both a sinister black. He stepped out of the box and the aura died. His arms dropped to his sides a knife in each one. He turned to Hydra and Leo and smiled.
“Welcome back,” Hydra said.
