~~~Chapter 5~~~
Death, blood, pain. That’s all she could feel as the memories of her past life once again flooded her mind as she slept. Her peacefulness quickly vanished as she was overcome with depression. She awake with a jolt. Darkness. All she could see was darkness. She could feel the cold stone floor as she stood up. She could see nothing. No Hosi. No Kudoshi. Not anyone. She was completely alone.
Then out of a burst of flames came the figure that she knew quite well. It stood about 8 feet away from her cloaked as usual. It’s face and everything hidden beneath it’s heavy brown wool coat. It seemed to hiss as it took a few slow steps towards the confused and fearless Angel of Darkness.
“So how are you feeling my dear? Enjoying your new life?” the mysterious figure hissed out coldly. Memiko’s anger rose, “What the fuck is your problem!? Where am I and what kind of sick joke is this shit?!”
The figure just laughed at her anger as this only caused her anger to rise more. “I’m sorry does my pain seem funny to you?!” Memiko spat. The figure once again took a few steps closer. Memiko was able to smell it’s breath. It reeked of mold and decay. The stench felt as if it burned her lungs as she drew in breath. But still she stood her ground.
She was not going to be scared of some asshole in a cape. She’d faced demons and dead souls that were more terrifying than this asshole. She just glared and looked at where the figure’s eyes would be if she were able to see them. She raised her head a bit to seem more confident as she toughened her glare and features. As a usual tactic, she once again changed her eyes from blue-purple to match the darkness of her soul.
The figure backed away slowly as it could feel her powers growing. “What?! You shouldn’t have your powers! Your soul isn’t fully together! WHY DO YOU HAVE YOUR POWERS?!”
Memiko smirked, ‘it showed me fear. Ha guess it is more afraid then it thinks.’ Memiko laughed at the figure’s stupidity. “You claim that you know me more than I know myself then you should know that I am not in what you so dearly call “the real world.” When in fact we are in another dimension. But here is your downfall, my powers are strong when there is no light.”
Memiko said some silent chants to hold the figure in place. She was determined to find out who they really were. But as she reached forward to pull it’s cloak down a bright light engulfed her.
“DAMMIT!” Memiko screamed as she realized they escaped once again and that she was back in Kudoshi’s room. “Damn it! I almost had him!!” She kept repeating as she pounded the bed. Her sudden outburst awoke the peaceful Kudoshi from his sleep.
“Memi? What’s wrong? What happened?” The worried brunette asked as he quickly took to her side on his bed. Memiko kept beating her hands on the mattress until Kudo-san took them within his.
He looked deeply within her eyes, searching for answers, “Please tell me what is wrong.”
Memiko sighed and looked at the sheets. She pulled her hands out of his and wrapped them around her legs as she brought them up to her chest. She bit her bottom lip, “I- I- I could have been able to go home.”
Kudoshi got up and walked silently towards the bedroom door. “Kudoshi?” Memiko whispered. He didn’t even look back at her. She knew he was upset. He just placed his hand on the doorknob and paused. “If you don’t like it here you can just leave. I couldn’t really care. If you aren’t happy here then just leave.” His anger was boiling over the top as he opened the door and slammed it shut.
Memi just sat there holding her legs as she thought about his words. She took a hold of some of the bedding as she pushed her depression aside and got out of the bed. She took a piece of paper wrote a goodbye note to Hosi as she quietly placed it at the foot of her door. She then teleported herself out and about 50 miles into town.
Hosi awoke ready to play with her new friend. “Memi-chama!” she called out. But all that returned was silence. “Memi?” small tears began to form in the young child’s eyes. She swung open her door and stepped on a piece of paper. Even though Hosi couldn’t read she was able to make out the words ‘good-bye’ and ‘Kudoshi’. The young child’s eyes filled with tears as she ran into the backyard looking for her brother.
He was over by the shed holding one of Memiko’s feathers. Hosi ran to him, falling into his lap as she began pounding her little fists on his chest. “It’s your fault. It’s all your fault!” she screamed as she kept pounding and crying. Kudoshi noticed the small note crumbled within her pajama pants pocket. He pulled it out and read the note to himself.
He couldn’t believe it. Memiko left. He didn’t think she would. He blamed himself. ‘I never should of yelled at her. She was hurting because she missed her friends and family. I was out of line. And now I’ve lost her forever. And Hosi hates me. What have I done?’
