What is that? Kiba thought as he lowered his weapon and looked back at where he had left Alex. He saw Brittany standing behind Alex, Alcadan there before him, and Zanatos being held by the mages. Theperson his eyes rested on however, was Alex. That's...that's the lad's demonic powers!

"No, what have you done? You've released that beast back into this world! How could you!" Magnus seethed glaring at Alcadan.
Alcadan only smiled and shook his head. "You do not understand Magnus. My Lord, show him the true you."
Magnus gave a cold chuckle causing Alcadan to look at him. "No, it is you who doesn't understand old man. I know fully well who he is. You've been very disappointing Alcadan, very disappointing indeed. I really don't have any further use for you."
Alcadan's eyes widened at Magnus's expression. "No."
"Farewell Archmage." Magnus said coldly as he raised his staff.
"No!" Brittany screamed. Alex tried to move forward but something kept him from moving.
No my Lord, do not risk your life or the life of your mate for me. I am not worthy to be saved. My time has come. All I ask, is please...return this realm to how it once was. Return this realm to its former glory. Do not let the deaths of all those.... I want to apologize once more for what I did to you.
Alcadan...old man, don't. You removed the seal now, that's all that matters. You helped to save both me and Brittany, I can't thank you enough for that. Consider us even.
No, I have hurt you far worse than that. There was something I was never able to tell you. Something that involves your past. There is something that you don't even know. Something...something that might make you hate me worse than anyone else, even Zanatos.
What the hell are you talking about old man?
I am truly sorry....
Alex watched in frozen horror as Magnus cast his spell. "Eien kurushimi."
Alcadan bowed his head and allowed the cursed spell to hit him full blast. The purple energy being emitted from Magnus's staff merged with Alcadan's body. Alcadan suddenly yelled in pain as the purple energy shot out of his mouth.
Brittany closed her eyes and Alex pulled her close to him so she wouldn't have to see what was happening. "Do not cry for him. This is how he wanted to atone for his sins that is why I can stand here and not be sad. His death has assured us our life." Alex whispered to her.
Brittany cringed at the sounds of Alcadan's screams unable to force herself to watch. Why? Why does everyone have to die? Alex's powers are back, he could save him. So why did Alcadan choose to die?
Alex watched as every inch of Alcadan began to glow as the purple energy forced itself out of his body from the inside out. That is a forbidden dark spell. One of which was only used during the great war. Eternal suffering...that's what the spell is. The curse enters the hosts body and then forces its way out anyway it can. Killing the host slowly so that it seems like an eternity that it takes him to die. Alcadan, I won't save you, you made your decision so I will let you die. But I'm not about to suffer like this. You were always loyal, just like Kiba. Only now do I really see that you were my only friend back then. I can't let you die at the hands of this bastard. Forgive me Alcadan, but if you are to die, it shall be at my hands.
"Keep your eyes closed." Alex instructed as he let go of Brittany.
Magnus was so focused at watching Alcadan's death that he didn't notice that Alex had let go of Brittany. It wasn't until Alcadan fell to the ground dead that Magnus realized that Alex had moved.
Alex flicked the blood from his claws and glared at Magnus. Alex's demonic energy was pulsing violently causing Magnus to take a step back. "I didn't do anything because Alcadan wanted to die. But he didn't deserve to die like that. I'll deal with you later Magnus. Right now I have others to deal with."
As if on cue Gigas and Celine stumbled back onto the battle ground. Both of them looked worn out from battling Brittany but even if they had been at full strength they wouldn't have been prepared for the demonic pulse that brought them to their knees.
"No...it can't be!" Celine said weakly.
"Fuck...." Gigas stated numbly. "Can't say we didn't have this coming, but this is just fucking ridiculous."
Zanatos looked towards Magnus, a hint of fear clouding his red eyes. Magnus shook his head and grinned coldly at Zanatos. "You got yourself into this mess, now you can get yourself out of it."
Before Zanatos could protest Magnus turned his back to them and walked away. Zanatos growled in anger and glared at Alex.
"You will pay for this. All of you will pay!" Zanatos screamed. Zanatos's body began to bulge as he started to complete his demonic transformation.
"Brittany step back. Things are about to get pretty ugly around here." Alex said slowly not taking his eyes off of Zanatos.
"But Alex..." Brittany said not wanting to leave him. She didn't know why but even in the rain she could tell that she was crying. Even though it didn't make any sense she couldn't stop. "I'm not going to leave you!"
Alex turned to her and smiled as he gently wiped the tears from her eyes. He then pulled her into a passionate kiss that took her breath away. "I know, but I don't want you hurt."
"I'm still not leaving."
Alex knew there was no point in arguing. Instead he stepped back and nodded. His demonic aura peaked again and his hair began to blow violently as winds wiped around him. Alex waved his hand in front of Brittany and suddenly a red barrier formed around her. "This should keep you safe for now."
"Alex, promise you'll come back okay."
Alex smiled and shook his head in wonder. "What would make you think I wouldn't?"
"Just promise okay."
"Fine I promise. I'll come back to you Brittany, just like always. No matter what, I'll always find my way back to you. No matter how lost in the darkness I am."
"Thank you." Brittany said softly. When she looked behind Alex her eyes grew big. "Alex!"
Alex turned in time to see an enormous black claw falling towards him and Brittany. The claw was as large as Alex's entire body and Alex instantly knew to whom it did belong.
"Alex!" Brittany screamed as the claw hit Alex full force. Dust and mud exploded all around them from the force of the impact. When the dust had dispersed Brittany was shocked to see Alex firmly holding the claw in place with his left hand. Brittany quickly scanned to see what creature had a claw that big. The darkness of the night made it hard to see the enormous black beast before her.. Brittany could barely make out the form of the creature. Once she did she gasped in shock and shook her head in disbelief at what she saw.
"Wait...you mean. Alex is fighting a dragon!"
The creature before Alex was an enormous black dragon. It was in height at least twenty feet tall and in width nearly fifteen feet. The wingspan of the giant creature was the length of two full grown humans and behind it was a long and powerful looking tail. Its red eyes glowed evilly in the darkness.
Alex smirked as he looked up at the beast. "You've grown weaker in the time you've been ruling. I can't believe with an attack as weak as that that you were once regarded to be one of the strongest warriors in this realm. Pretty sad considering you're one of the last remaining dragons in this realm. Wouldn't you agree Zanatos."
Zanatos! That monster is Zanatos. Brittany thought as she gazed deeper into the red eyes of the dragon. There's no mistaking it. Those are definitely that bastard's eyes.
Zanatos, in blind rage, swung at Alex again with his other arm. Alex grabbed hold of that arm like he did Zanatos's other one. Alex then pulled hard on Zanatos's arm causing Zanatos to stumble forwards.
"Come on Zanatos. This is really disappointing. Why don't you quit playing around and show me your true power!" Alex taunted. The instant he said that a part of him mind remembered Alcadan's warning and his own nightmare. Don't rely on you powers that much. It will only lead to pain. Don't get too cocky that's how mistakes are made. I lost Brittany in my dream because I let my power get the better of me. I can't let that happen for real.
"You want my true power? Fine then here it is!" Zanatos yelled as he reared his head back. Suddenly flames erupted from Zanatos's mouth in a stream of molten hot fire.
Brittany shielded herself on reflex as she saw the raging inferno consume Alex. Alex! Brittany screamed as the flames began to consume the barrier around her. She could feel the heat from the flames from her position within the barrier, but still Alex's barrier held firm.
Suddenly Brittany felt the ground shake as a strong demonic pulse unlike any before it rocked the realm. All the warriors of the two great armies including the magical creatures were brought to their knees in the middle of combat as the demonic pulses continued to rock the ground. Zanatos's red eyes widened as he fought to remain standing. His fire breath wavered slightly for a second, and it was in that second that Brittany could make out the form of Alex or at least she thought it was Alex. There standing in the flames was a creature with completely black skin and flowing white hair. Brittany couldn't make out anymore due to the flames consuming him once more, but she instantly knew who it was.
Now...now I can finally see the true you. Brittany thought and closed her eyes as a worried smile crept along her lips. Please, I know you are strong, but please be safe Alex. You promised to come back to me. I would hate your forever if you ever broke that promise.
By now, the fighting long forgot in the chaos the followed Alex's seal being broken, the two great armies watched in awe at what was unfolding. Zanatos's fiery breath never wavered until all of a sudden a black clawed hand struck out at Zanatos from within the raging inferno. The clawed hand was much smaller than Zanatos's, but the force with which it struck caused Zanatos's head to fly upwards. Zanatos's body reared back from the force of the blow and for a moment his assailant rose from the depths of the raging inferno and into the night sky. It was in that moment that lightning flashed across the sky allowing all who were watching to clearly see who Zanatos's assailant was.
Oh my God. That's Alex! Brittany thought in amazement as she finally glimpsed him in his full demonic form. Even though it was but for a moment she was able to see every detail of him clearly. His skin was completely black and both his muscles and height had increased. From his head jutted out tow long white horns mixing in with his solid white hair which cascaded all around him. The tattoo's which had long since been a reminder of Alex's seal now glowed a bright red against his skin mixing with in and becoming one with his body. The last thing Brittany noticed was Alex's face. The marking which had appeared on it so many times before now glowed in the darkness of his own skin. His eyes were solid white and in that instant they met with Brittany's. Brittany's heart skipped a beat and she felt her legs start to give out from under her.
What is this feeling I have? It's like nothing I've ever felt before, not even when I was captured by Celine. I've never felt this intense sense of fear, it's like when I look at him I look into my own death. I can feel his blood lust from here, is this monster truly Alex? Is this truly the man I've fallen in love with? I know he's in there somewhere, I can still feel his love for me, but...why can't I shake this feeling of impending doom when I look at him?
Alex soared through the air his body unaffected by Zanatos's fire. His eyes burned with rage and hatred as he glared down at Zanatos. This is it. I will make him pay for all he's done to me. His death will be slow and painful, that is already assured. I'll leave his orb of energy in him just so his wounds will heal faster. He'll beg for death, but his body won't let him.
Alex was so focused on what he would do to Zanatos that he didn't realize he had passed through the flames until a bolt of lightning streaked across the sky. It was then that Alex felt something jolt inside of him. His heart skipped a beat and instantly he knew Brittany was looking at him. Alex turned his head to look at her and what he saw made him lose the cockiness he had just relished. When Alex's eyes met Brittany's he saw in her the one thing he had prayed he would never see. He saw inside of her fear. She was afraid...of him. No...it can't be. She'd never be afraid of me, unless.... Dammit I'm losing it again. I can't give in to it. This power is mine to control, my power doesn't control me. I am not a monster! I will not let my powers control me! For far too long I've wanted my power returned, but what's the use of this power if the one I love is afraid of because of them?
Alex turned his head to look down as he heard Zanatos roar with rage. Zanatos arched back and launched another wave of fire at Alex. Alex glanced back at Brittany one more time before he was consumed with the fire. Brittany's eyes were closed and she was looking away from him.
No, this isn't how it's going to be. I am Alex, no one else. This power is mine wether I like it or not and with it comes the choice of how I use it. I think it's about time I start using it for good rather than to torment my enemies. I'm not so weak that I can be corrupted by power. For those with power will eventually lose everything they have, and I'm not about to lose Brittany to anyone. To keep her faith I will fall into the abyss. I must prove to her as much as too myself that I am the master of myself. Ever since I had that dream I've been afraid that if I regained my powers I would end up hurting her. I'm not willing to risk it.
* * * * * * * *
All the warriors watched as Alex rose above the flames. None of them could believe their eyes and for a second they believed they were seeing a ghost. Kiba was the first one to realize who it was.
That's the lad's energy, but that can't be the lad. There's no way. Kiba thought paling as the realization hit him. As soon as the lightning illuminated the sky his thoughts were confirmed. "The lad...Razriel. The lad is the demon Lord!"
Aurora and Shadow exchanged glances of disbelief as they looked back up at Alex who was now descending into the flame. "All this time, it can't be. He died in the great battle." Shadow said.
"Who else could it be? No one has that much demonic power besides him. There's no other way to look at it." Aurora replied enthusiastically.
"We have no other choice but to believe it. The lad...Alex...he's Razriel. Alex is the original Demon Lord." Kiba said softly. Both Aurora and Shadow nodded numbly not knowing what else to do.
* * * * * * * *
Alex, I will be strong for you. I can sense your inner turmoil. I know you're still in there. No matter what happens, I will always love you and I will always have faith in you. Brittany thought. When she looked back up Alex was descending back into the flames. Brittany shoved away her fear and yelled. "Alex hit him once for me! Make that bastard pay!"
Author's Note: Hey people. Well what do you think? I had this whole speech thingy that I was going to say, but I forgot it. : (. Oh well. ANYway, I hope you like this chapter. I'm still working on the final chapter...it's loooong. There's a lot of loose threads to tie up. That reminds me, did you guess who Alex really was before I revealed it? Yep, good ole Alex who's been beaten up, tortured, and despised is actually the Lord everyone loved. Next chapter you'll find out what all happened to him. It truly is pretty messed up. Still, I hope you like it, and if you really like it you could show your appreciation by say...reviewing. Pleeeeease! Heh, seriously, take care. Catch ya later.
