Fan Fiction ❯ The Four Lords ❯ The Broken Seal ( Chapter 63 )

Alex closed his eyes and waited for Gigas's final punishing blow. Instead of pain he felt wind pass over his face and he heard Gigas's surprised yell. Alex opened his eyes to see Brittany in her demonic form standing in between him and Gigas. Brittany's talons were dug deep into Gigas's leg.
"What the hell!" Gigas exclaimed. Celine and Zanatos both jumped back at Brittany's sudden appearance.
"Dammit I told you not to waste your time with him! Now we're going to have to fight her!" Zanatos yelled.
Gigas didn't have time to respond as Brittany rammed her hand through his chest and threw him across the field. She then turned her attention to Celine. "You're next bitch!"
"No, why isn't she attacking Kane?" Celine said as she launched herself into the air to avoid Brittany's attack.
Zanatos glared at the broken and beaten form of Alex. Of course, it was him. He let Gigas beat him. That way he could reach the girl. Dammit, he's going to pay for that!.
"Celine, you and Gigas take care of the girl. I've got some unfinished business to attend to." Zanatos declared as he turned to Alex.
Brittany realized what was happening and turned to face Zanatos, but before she could Celine slashed Brittany across the back. "I wouldn't turn my back to the enemy if I were you. This time demonic powers or not, you're not leaving here alive! With my speed you won't be able to lay a hand on me."
"Try me." Brittany growled. Celine launched herself at Brittany, but Brittany easily evaded the attack and grabbed hold of both of Celine's wings. Celine screamed in pain as Brittany snapped both her wings like twigs. Brittany then flung Celine across the field in the direction that she had sent Gigas flying. Brittany then turned her attention back to Zanatos.

Zanatos was only a foot away from Alex as Alex numbly tried to recite a spell. Right before Zanatos's talons, which were aimed to kill Alex, fell upon him Alex managed to erect another barrier. Zanatos's hand shot back from the barrier causing Zanatos to curse.
"You don't really think that barrier will keep me out do you?" Zanatos yelled.
"No, but it should give her enough time to finish off your friends." Alex said coughing up blood while he did so. I don't know how long I can keep this barrier up. One benefit of being human is I can now cast magic without any fear of the consequences. The downside is no healing factor. Gigas's nearly broke all my ribs, and knowing my luck probably punctured a lung. Not too mention him scrambling my brains with his first shot. Brittany, please hurry.
Zanatos's claws struck at Alex's barrier, each time Zanatos's anger intensified causing his attacks to become stronger and each time the barrier gave way little by little.
I won't be able to hold this much longer. I'm already about to pass out. A little help would be nice Brittany. Alex thought through gritted teeth.
Right before Zanatos's claws slammed against Alex's barrier a dark form swooped into him, picking him up and lifting him high into the air. Alex released his barrier and laid back on the muddy ground. The rain pelted his face but he didn't care. His entire body was going numb and soon he felt he would be consumed by the darkness.

Zanatos's claws dug into Brittany's skin as he slapped her across the face. Brittany responded with a feral growl and dived towards the ground. Brittany threw Zanatos at the ground with tremendous force. Their was a large crater formed from the force of Zanatos's impact. Brittany didn't even bother to look back as she turned in the air and headed back to Alex.
His heartbeats growing fainter. He doesn't know any healing spells, and I can't use any in my current form. I've got to do something quickly. I need to get him to the clerics. Brittany thought. She dove and aimed straight for Alex. A moment before she would've had him in her arms Brittany was hit with an enormous stone pillar and sent crashing into the wall next to Alex.
Brittany stood up to see Gigas swing the pillar at her again. "You might be faster than Celine, but there's no way in hell you'll ever be stronger than me!"
Right as the pillar came crashing down on her Brittany raised her hands to grab it. There was a loud cracking sound as the pillar connected. Gigas smiled with cocky arrogance knowing that he had just finished her off. Suddenly his look of pride became one of shock as Brittany lifted the pillar up with ease.
"You were saying something about me being stronger than you." Brittany teased. Before Gigas had a chance to recover Brittany nailed him in the chest with the pillar. She then launched herself at him and madly slashed at his chest. She nearly sliced him to ribbons before flipping backwards and kicking him in the chest sending him crashing into one of the remaining walls. As soon as Gigas's enormous form collided with the already weakened structure of the walls they gave way and collapsed on top of him.
"Dammit, I've got to get to Alex." Brittany said as she turned and started slowly walking towards him. Her breathing was labored, and even though she had only been scratched she felt like she was the one taking all the beatings instead of her enemies. Brittany was only a few feet away from the fallen form of Alex.
I've got to...I've got to make it to him.
Brittany thought as her vision began to blur. What's happening to me?
All of a sudden Brittany collapsed on the ground and began screaming in pain. She madly clutched at her chest as a burning sensation swept through her body. Brittany gasped for air but none was able to fill her lungs as she screamed in pain once again as another wave of pain swept over her.

Alex phased in and out of consciousness. Brittany's screaming seemed so distant yet so near to him at the same time. Focus Alex. Something's wrong. Brittany's in trouble. No, she should've been able to handle herself.
Alex struggled to move himself to see what was happening. He saw Brittany lying only a few feet away from him. She was screaming in pain and clutching her body tightly. Alex cringed as he heard her screams but by the look on her face he instantly knew what was wrong.
Her body's rejecting my demonic powers. They're too much for her to handle. If I don't get them out of her it's going to kill her from the inside out. Alex struggled to get up. Every part of his body hurt and when he finally managed to get onto one knee he coughed up more blood. Shit, I've definitely punctured a lung. Dammit I've got to get my power out of her for both of us to survive. Without my healing factor I'm a goner.
Alex didn't dare try to stand. Instead he slowly tried to crawl towards Brittany. Alex saw something out of the corner of his eye that made his heart drop. Celine was walking towards them with nothing but hate and vengeance in her eyes. Alex then turned to see Gigas pull himself out fo the fallen debris. Gigas's body was covered in blood and wounds but he seemed not to feel a thing. The only thing he seemed to want was revenge for Brittany humiliating him.
Things just go from bad to worse around here.
Alex thought morbidly as he tried his best to hurry to Brittany's side. Just as Alex thought it couldn't get worse he heard Zanatos's feral growl erupt from somewhere to the far side of Alex. I stand corrected, now things went from bad to worse. It sounds like Brittany really pissed him off. Here's hoping he won't go into his full form until I can get my powers back from Brittany.
Alex could just about touch Brittany when Alex's hand was stomped into the ground by Celine. "No way. She's ours. We'll deal with you later. "
"Don't hurt her." Alex said weakly. This caused both of them to laugh.
"We're not going to hurt her Kane. We're going to kill her." Celine said coldly. Both of them turned back to her and were about to finish her off when suddenly a bright light sent both the demons flying backwards.
What in the hell was that? Alex thought as he peered into the darkness from which the attack came. What he saw made his heart light up with joy. There before him was none other than Alcadan. Behind him marched an army of mythical creatures. Gryffins, cerberus, centaurs, imps, pixies, and fairies all rallied behind him. With a wave of his hand Alcadan commanded all of them.
"Go aid the warriors of the southern realm. Time is of the essence." With that the creatures quickly started their advance towards the battle field. Alcadan slowly walked over to Alex and Brittany who were both in bad shape. "It seems I haven't come a moment too soon."
"No but you're late as hell." Alex coughed. Alcadan nodded sadly. He looked over Brittany and then at Alex. Alcadan waved his hand over Alex and instantly all of Alex's wounds were healed.
"Regain your powers at once otherwise she will die." Alcadan instructed. Alex didn't need any urging to hurry to Brittany's side. Alex propped her head in his lap and lifted her head up with his left hand. Alex brought his right pointer and middle fingers to Brittany's lips and closed his eyes.
Alcadan stood watching them until he felt a familiar presence. There behind him stood Magnus along with the other mages. "What in the hell are you doing?"
"I am following my own path." Alcadan said calmly.
"I told you the next time we met it would be as enemies. Do not think that I was joking about that." Magnus replied coldly holding up his staff and aiming it at Alcadan. "You have betrayed the Lord of the north, for that you will die."
"It is not yet my time to die Magnus. There is one final sin that I have yet to repent for." Alcadan looked behind Magnus and the mages to see the glowing red eyes of Zanatos slowly approaching from behind them. "For those of who haven't sold your heart and soul to this monster. For those of you who still honor the ancient pact we made with the original Lord to ensure the safety and happiness of this realm. I beseech upon your compassion. The only monster her is the one behind you. I have one final sin to atone for, but it will take time to cast the spell. Please, I ask of you, subdue him long enough for me to cast the spell."
The mages glanced back and forth from one another as murmurs passed between them. Magnus turned and glared at them evilly. "Those of you who know what's good for you won't even think about it. He's just trying to trick you."
"They will do what they believe is right in their heart." Alcadan said softly and turning his back to them he faced Alex. "Are you done my Lord?"
"Almost." Alex replied in a strained voice. Their was a dark red energy coming out of Brittany's mouth and encircling around Alex's finger. Suddenly the energy formed into a small orb which Alex brought to his lips and swallowed. "There, it's done."
Alex and Brittany were both consumed by a dark red aura as Alex absorbed all of his demonic power back. Brittany reverted back to her human form and Alex returned to his demonic state. He took of his coat and wrapped it around Brittany's pale and naked form. "It's okay." Alex whispered as she looked up at him.
"Do not give her false hope Kane. That will only lead to more disappointments." Zanatos spat. Zanatos had changed into more of his demonic form. He was now much taller and broader and now large black wings jutted forth from his back.
"You are the one who has false hope Zanatos." Alcadan said spitefully. He looked and Alex and smiled. "The final sin I have to atone for is placing that accursed seal on you. Now it is time you finally shed that seal and reveal your true form."
"NO!" both Magnus and Zanatos yelled in unison. Magnus was about to cast a spell when Brittany beat him to it.
"Hageshii kukan!" Brittany yelled. A strong gust of wind erupted from her and sent Magnus flying backwards. Zanatos's enraged growl echoed through the night air as he charged at Alcadan. Right before Zanatos's claws hit Alcadan Zanatos was frozen in mid movement.
"What the hell?" Zanatos cursed as he looked to see what was stopping him. All thirty mages were casting the same subjugation spell, thus holding Zanatos in place. "You can't do this to me! I am your Lord!"
"No Zanatos, he is." Alcadan said with a grim smile. "I am sorry my Lord. Now, let's return you to your former glory."
Alex nodded and stood slowly before Alcadan. This is it. Do I really have hope that the seal can be broken? Even so, I am I strong enough to contain my powers?
Alex looked at Brittany who was standing beside him and smiling brightly despite all that happened. She could sense the fear, worry, and excitement in Alex at the prospect of getting his powers back. "Don't worry, thing's can't get worse. I have faith in you, I always have. I love you Alex. Now I want to see you for who you truly are. I want to see the real you."
Brittany kissed Alex softly on the lips before stepping back to allow Alcadan to cast his spell. "Kusari e/ni shibara ichi chikara. Noroi kare no nakka kare no mono kurayami jikan. Kore han dono shibara watashi ima yameru, anata no hanmono chikara anata kan ima homen."
Alcadan's right hand glowed with energy as he chanted the spell. When the final word was done Alcadan hit Alex in the chest with the palm of his hand. The spell was physically and mentally draining on Alcadan, for when he spoke it was as if he had aged ten years in the time it took him to cast the spell. "Now rise my Lord. Show us your true power."
When Alex lifted his head his eyes were completely white and his lips contorted into an evil grin.
Zanatos paled as Alex glared at him. "The gates of hell have just been opened."

Author's Note: Yes! I am currently working on the final chapter, so hopefully by Friday you'll know all about Alex's dark past. Also, as I said before, all ending are not happy. So let me know what you think, and also tomorrow's chapter I didn't put too much into the fight scenes, if you want me to put more detail into them please let me know so I can fix it. Thanks, bye.
