Link stares at the chicken with terror in his eyes. Malon clenches onto him tighter making him nearly pass out from lack of air. Link manages to get Malon to loosen up so he can feel his lower body again. He tries to muster up some courage so he can at least move his body, and he finally ends up doing so.
"Alright, Link pull yourself together," Link says to himself.
"Link the big chicken is coming closer. Please make him go away." Malon says.
"I thought you were not afraid of chickens," Link sarcastically mutters under his breath.
"Well yeah, the small ones are cute. But that one is huge and ugly." she comments as tries to hide her face behind Link's back.
Malon begins to soften Link's heart. He wants to protect her now, for he is the hero, and he knows that. He knows that he has no other choice than to fight the huge chicken. Slowly his courage comes back to him. He knows he must overcome his fear. Link feels his blood rushing in and out of his heart. He feels his mind racing and wanting to fight. The Goron sword is pulled out from Link's back by his hand. He holds it with both hands as he watches the flame of the Goron sword dance.
"Let us just see what this sword can actually do," Link yells.
Link screams "Kouen Kitei Batsu" as he slams the sword on the ground sending a surging flame towards the front row of chickens. He repeats this attack several times until he realizes that the chicken's feathers are scorched, the eyes are bulging out, and they are running away. Link smiles as he is satisfied and prepares to fight the huge chicken. He drags the sword off the ground, hoists it up, and slings it onto his shoulder as he carries it with one hand.
"You ain't so tuff are you?" he retorically asks the chicken.
The chicken opens his mouth and a ball of energy shoots toward Link. Link moves out of the way and runs back to Malon. He cowers behind her and shivers.
"You see why I hate chickens. These things like never die." Link says.
Malon asks, "Why don't you try the flame sword on him?"
"I'll give it a try," he says.
Link moves around her and puts the sword in both hands again. The chicken begins to shoot energy balls out of his mouth again as Link dodges it with backflips and front flips. As Link dodges the attacks. He tries to move closer so he can kill the giant chicken. The chicken realizes that Link is drawing closer to him and tries to kick him. The chicken is too slow and almost loses balances doing so. This give Link a chance to hit him so he takes it. After Link stabs at him once, he notices the chicken glows a bright red when he did. Link hits him again, and again the chicken glows. Link keeps hitting him until the chicken knocks him back to where he started. The chicken shoots energy balls out of his mouth again wanting to hit him even more now.
Link repeats what he did earlier only this time he doesn't get hit. However, he has to move back to where he started to avoid being hit by the wings. Link does this several times and becomes sick of doing it. He knows it ain't working anymore. He knows he has to do something else. He takes his sword and holds it vertical in front of his face. He leaps high into the air and yells "Dance of the Flames". At this time, he slashes the sword three times in mid air in a diagonal fashion. Out of the sword slashes come several sparks of fire. He ends it by putting the sword in the center, at the same exact time, fire blazes out from where he has slashed earlier and it moves toward the chicken. The chicken is hit by the flames and catches on fire. The chicken runs around in circles wildly.
Link touches ground finally due to gravity. He sprints toward the chicken at full speed. He stops right in front of the chicken and he begins slashing it several times. After the slashes, the chicken vanishes and becomes several purple flames which in turn also vanish. A treasure box takes it place.
Link walks up the chest and opens it. The chest glows brightly as it is opened and a map rises up. Link takes into his hand and raises it in the air as he rejoices.
"Ha ha, I killed the chicken! No more chickens!" he says in an obsessive voice as he pets the map.
Malon takes the map from his hand and says, "Hey this map isn't of Hyrule. This map is a map of the city far away from Hyrule. Why would we be given a map of that city?"
"I don't know... but that's where we are going. Maybe we'll find an answer there. Find a horse, grab a few things, and lets go. Wherever this city is, it must be where your father is, because it doesn't seem he is here. I bet he left this behind for this. And if we find him, we can find out what happened to the ranch and what the heck is going on."
