The Wanderer
Chapter 6
"Mercit"
-------------------------------------------------------- -------------------

"Where's Snott?" said King Robert.

"He's joined Kismet," said Katie.

"WHAT! The next time I see him I will kill him."

"He was useless. I have a much better replacement. Knows-a-lot bring in Nala."

Knows-a-lot walked in with a tall, sexy, Siamese catwoman following him. She was
wearing a general uniform, but it was unbutton all the way down to the middle of
her big chest. Her hair was cut short like a boy and the only long part was two
braids on each side of her face that went to her shoulder.

"I'm honor to meet you my king. My name is Nala," she said.

"I like what I see," said King Robert.

"I knew you would," said Katie.

(

"Crystal diamond show me where I can find an owner of a weapon," said Ruby as
she held out her right hand. Then a beam a light came out of it and it led to
the southwest.

They were at the gates of the city Tojf waiting to find which way to go now. Now
their quest was clear, they must find the owners of the king's weapons. They
must trust on Ruby to get them there.

"So that the way we are going?" said Apollo.

"I think so," said Kismet.

"Then let go."

They walked off with Ruby as their guide. Followed by Stry who kept a close eye
on Ruby. He knew her father death is still close in her mind and he wanted to be
close by when she needs someone. Then came Apollo and Kismet talking the whole
way. Actually Apollo did most of the talking Kismet just listened a put his
input in now and then. After them was Wanderer keeping to himself like his
normal self. And at the caboose was Snott by his lonesome.

They walked out of Fuxec, and into the Freelands. This land was once part of
Fuxec, but Sara gave them their freedom hundreds of years ago when she first
became queen. Stry was right, Sara was merciful. Instead of going to war over
this, she gave them their long-wanted freedom and they were grateful. Some
cities made goddesses after her-likeness, but they long forgotten who Sara was.
They just remember a terrible death queen, Yfel, which rules Fuxec. And that
Mercit saved them from her.

They walked through the forest of the Freelands that spreads across the north of
this land to the small village of Mercit where the great temple of Mercit was.
It was a most beautiful temple in world. It was made out of a light blue marble
and green vines of the sacred purple honeysuckle grow up the pillars and the
walls. In the middle was the great, pink, healing waters that said was the tears
of joy from Mercit herself. And in a secret room behind the pool was statue of
the image the goddess and tons of paintings of her on the walls. The virgin
priestess that ran this temple didn't know that it was Queen Sara of Fuxec
before the curse of youth when she was entering her adult years and leaving her
youth.

As they enter into the village, the villagers stared out them. They never saw a
fairy or a vampire in they whole life. They walked to the nearest inn and
checked in.

"Finally a warm bed," said Apollo as he felled down on his bed in his hotel room
that he's sharing with Kismet.

"We just slept on the grounds just for a week," said Kismet.

"A week longer than I wanted to."

"Get use to it. I bet we'll be sleeping on the ground a lot on this quest."

"Man, I wish know magic, so I can sleep on a nice comfortable bed every night."

"I don't think there's a spell for that."

"What! Man that sucks."

"If you find a genie, they can grant you a bed to sleep on every night of your
life."

"Hey that's not a bad idea. Kismet, where do you find a genie?"

"In the wastelands."

"Note to self: Try to bribe Ruby to take us to the wastelands."

"You need help."

"Everyone needs some form of help. Hey want to roam around the village? Maybe we
can find a pub or something."

"Sure why not."

Kismet and Apollo walked out of the room into the hallway where they found Ruby
and Stry walking to the stairs.

"Hey Ruby, Stry," said Apollo trying to get their detection.

"Oh hello. We were just going to look around the village," said Ruby.

"So are we. Want to go together?"

"No," said Stry.

"What he mean's that we wanted to go alone," said Ruby.

"Why?" said Kismet.

"Kismet, Kismet, Kismet," said Apollo as he shock his head, "You have much to
learn in the ways of a woman."

"And you're going to teach him?" said Stry trying not to laugh.

"Hey, I been with more then my share of girls. I know a thing or two. Like when
they want to be 'alone' with someone, they actually want to make-out with them."

"Actually we wanted to talk," said Ruby.

"Talk meaning making-out."

"We just want to get to know each other more."

"Translation, they want to boink."

"Boink?" asked Kismet.

"You know 'boink.'"

"I still don't get it."

Apollo whispered something in Kismet's ear.

"Oh," said Kismet.

"Kismet, don't listen to him. He knows nothing," said Ruby.

"Hey, I know two times two equal four," said Apollo.

"How about twelve times two?"

"I have to get back to you on that one."

"Let's go," Ruby said to Stry as they walked down the stairs.

Kismet followed Apollo around the village. There was not much. Just a couple of
inns, some small shops, one tavern, a restaurant, and the temple of Mercit in
the middle of the city.

"Apollo, let's go to the temple," said Kismet.

"You can't just walk up to a temple. I'm sure you have to be follower or
something," said Apollo.

"I never seen a temple."

"I seen plenty. When you see one, you've seen them all. Besides didn't Sara said
there's a temple in your village."

"Yes, but I never seen it, because it's in a cave and only the elders can go in
it. So can we?"

"Fine."

They walked to the temple. The only people there where the beautiful five young
priestesses that ran and lived there. The priestesses were not allowed to leave
the temple once they entered. It was there prison, but they didn't look on it
that way. They loved it there. Everything they need was provided to them.

Each has they duty to perform. One with green hair was the gardener her name was
Sakura. Medicina was the one with blue hair she was the healer. Joy had pink
hair and was the keeper of the pink water. The one who cleans the temple was
Cleini who had purple hair. And the high-priestess Giden, who was in charge of
the others was who hair was the color of the rainbow. All are young, or at least
look it. For serving the goddess, they believe she gave them the power of being
young forever, because they were immortal. They were like goddess themselves.
They were not elves, fairies, or anything that suppose to be immortal, just
humans with the gift of immortality.

Kismet and Apollo walked up the steps to the outside area of the temple that
where tons of people were. Medicina was there healing people, and by her side
was Joy with the pink water in a pitcher. Sakura was handing out fruits from her
gardens to the poor. And Giden was watching over them from the balcony.

"So want to try to get inside?" Apollo said.

"Are we allow to?" replied Kismet.

"I don't know, so want to try our luck."

"Like I have a choice."

Apollo and Kismet carefully sneaked in the temple. They walked into a large room
with the pool of the pink water was. And on the wall in front of them was a
painting of Mercit. It was beautiful. Her blonde hair was up in a messed up bun,
wore a long white dress that was almost see-through, wore no jewelry except a
small silver tiara, and walk barefoot in a beautiful garden. The smile on her
face was warm and inviting. There was something familiar about it to Kismet and
Apollo.

"She's beautiful," said Apollo.

"I seen this before," said Kismet.

"Where?"

"In my room in the castle of Tojf. It was hanging on the wall. I couldn't think
who she was and I don't think it's Mercit. I don't even think there's a Mercit."

"What are you talking about?"

"Yeah, what are you talking about?" said Cleini as she walked behind, surprising
them.

"We're busted," said Apollo.

"Big time," Cleini replied, "What are you doing here? No one is allowing in
here."

"It's was his idea," said Apollo as he pointed to Kismet.

"It was not," replied Kismet.

"Don't listen to him. He has a problem of lying a lot."

"No I don't. If anyone has the problem, it's you."

"You're a fairy ain't you?" Cleini asked Kismet.

"Yes," replied Kismet.

"I have seen you in my visions, a half-fairy and a liar."

"Are you calling me a liar?" said Apollo in shock.

"Tell me who do you think is in that picture?"

"I believe it's Queen Sara of Fuxec, but I'm not sure," said Kismet, "Wait, it
is her. Apollo can't you see it. The same hair, the same skin, the same eyes,
the same beauty."

"It is her. But isn't she five," replied Apollo.

"This is before the curse. This is what she looked like when she was nineteen."

"My visions were right," said Cleini, "We were worshipping the very person that
Mercit suppose to defeated."

"Don't listen to them. They are liars," said Giden as she walked in the room
from a hallway on the right side of the room.

"They tell the true," Cleini said as she fell to the ground.

"They are trying to get you away from your beliefs. Don't listen."

"What beliefs? You're worshipping Queen Sara, not a goddess named Mercit," said
Kismet.

"And remember Stry always saying how merciful she is, and Snott is living proof
that she is. If I was her, I would have killed him when he stood," said Apollo.

"The vampire that loves the elf, and the general of your enemy's army," said
Cleini as she was getting a vision, "This isn't a Mercit, is there? The elders
made her up from these paintings they found of Queen Sara. I see it. Giden tell
me the true. Please tell me the true."

"Mercit is the great goddess that separate us from the Land of Shadows and
Secrets, and defected Yfel and turn her into a five year old child," Giden
replied.

"Liar. There's no Yfel and no Mercit."

Cleini got up and ran at of the temple.

"If you leave, you will never come back, and your youth will disappear also,"
said Giden.

But Cleini didn't listen. Kismet and Apollo followed Cleini out of the temple
and into the crowds outside. She struggled through them, but finally touch the
ground off the temple grounds. As she touch it, she turned old and feeble, and
fell down, but lucky for her Kismet and Apollo caught her.

"Apollo do you still have youth?" asked Kismet to Apollo.

"I think so," Apollo said as he took out a small water bottle from his saddlebag
and handed it to Kismet.

"Drink this," Kismet said as he lifted the bottle to Cleini mouth.

She drunk it and became young again. The crowds saw what happened and started to
gather around Kismet, Apollo, and Cleini.

"He has the power to bring youth back," said one.

"Please can we have some," said another.

"Ask the priestesses of the so-called goddess, Mercit because I'm through with
this," said Cleini as she walked off with Kismet and Apollo.

(

"So where did you go?" asked Wanderer as Kismet and Apollo met with the rest of
the group in the inn small restaurant.

"To the temple," replied Kismet.

"Yeah, just to the boring old temple. Nothing much," Apollo added.

"That's not I heard," said Ruby.

"And what did you heard?"

"That two people, a fairy and a boy, sneaked into the temple then converted a
priestess from her religion. Then on top of that made her young when she became
old when she left the temple."

"That wasn't us. It must be some other fairy and boy."

"Yeah, some other fairy and boy," replied Kismet.

"Sure," said Ruby.

"Then what did you two do?" asked Apollo.

"Looking around town like it's your business what we do."

"But it's my," said Wanderer, "I don't want my friend's only daughter running
around with a vampire."

"We went shopping for clothes," said Stry.

"I feel sorry for you," said Apollo.

"Oh it wasn't that bad," replied Ruby.

"Man, I wish I wasn't you then."

"It wasn't that bad."

"Is there anything I can do that can help you from not being permanently scar
for life?"

"It wasn't that bad!"

"Man, can I joke around? Lucky I don't have a girlfriend."

"I will feel sorry for that poor girl."

"What does that mean?"

"You two stop it," said Wanderer.

"Can I get you something to drink?" asked the waitress.

"I have a beer," replied Wanderer.

"Me too," said Apollo.

"Water," said Kismet.

"Ice tea," Ruby said.

"I have a beer too," said Stry.

"Okay. Three beers, a water, and an ice tea coming right up," the waitress
replied. Then she walked off.

"Hey where's Snott?" said Apollo.

"I haven't seen him since we got our hotel rooms," said Wanderer.

"I wonder where he is."

(

Snott was in the forest around Mercit sitting under a tree writing in a small
book when Nala sneaked on him, but he heard her. He grabbed his ax and stood up.

"By the orders of King Robert, you are to be destroyed," Nala said.

"I see you're my replacement," replied Snott, "Katie did a good job brainwashing
you."

"No, I just found the truth," she said as she extended her claws.

"You want to fight. Try to get me."

"Cat-strike."

Nala jumped where she stood and did a claw-dive, but Snott blocked it with his
ax.

"Ax of the Forest show me what you can do," he said, "Vines tangled."

He left the ax over his strike the ground. Vines came out of the ground and
caught Nala in a grasps, but Nala just cut them off with her claws.

"This thing is useless against you," Snott said as he throw it to the ground, "I
guess I had to use my own magic. By the power which confound me to my lamp turn
Nala into newt."

Nala just stood there looking at Snott thinking he's weird.

"It didn't work. But how. I turn someone in a newt once," said Snott.

"I think you're power are useless here," said Nala.

"Wait I'm free, so it's a different spell, but what is it."

"I won't gave you time to find out. Cat-strike."

Nala did another cat-strike, but Snott threw his watch down to make a portal
back to City of White. He knocked Nala in it, but before Nala got all the way
in, she took the watch. The portal close leaving Snott all only in the woods
again.

"I have to think up the spell and fast," said Snott as he ran back to the town.

He ran through the streets, carefully not to bump into people, but he did. He
was going around a corner and bump into Cleini knocking her down.

"I'm sorry," he said as he helped her up.

"Snott. Is that you?" Cleini said, "It is you, Snott. You got to be insane
coming back here."

"Cleini, what are you doing out of the temple?"

"I'm free like you. And I stop believing in Mercit."

"Why did you go and do a thing like that? It's not safe out here. You were
protected in there."

"Ain't you happy? We can be together now like we wanted."

"I was coming to get you after the danger has past."

"Then I'm will be in they for the rest of my life."

"What are you talking about?"

"I have seen the future, and it's bad."
