The large demon’s hand trembled slightly as he readied his sword. “Devil or not, I will kill you.”
Alex’s eyes glowed white and suddenly he disappeared from sight. The demon was about to question where he went when suddenly his eyes rolled into the back of his head. Alex appeared behind him and licked the blood of his hands. “If I were you I’d get that looked at.”
The last demon and the humans stared at their leader. They were petrified as he fell to the ground, a large hole in his chest where Alex had ripped his arm through it. Alex then turned his gaze upon the last demon. The demon shook with pure terror as he gazed at Alex with trembling eyes.
“So, you are the last one. Don’t you want to kill me?” Alex taunted. He let his body transform partially. His eyes turned solid white and his teeth turned to fangs. The demon was so scared by Alex that he couldn’t even draw his weapon, due to his shaking hands. Alex’s chuckled wickedly as he turned his attention towards the humans.
They’re all so terrified that they can’t even move. Their souls are full of darkness and evil, such is the nature of assassins. Still, human souls are still souls, regardless of what kind of slime they came from.
Alex walked past the demon stopping only to see if the demon could muster the will to do anything. “Pathetic, stay here until I return. If you move, your death will be far worse than those of your counterparts.”
Alex then walked towards the humans. He saw in their eyes pure terror. The thought that assassins who had slaughtered countless hundreds now trembled before him was a tantalizing thought indeed. Alex was surprised to hear a sword being drawn to his right. One of the humans, either out of desperation or out of realization that this would be his end, launched himself at Alex.
Alex effortlessly sidestepped the man’s attack, at the same time ramming his arm through the man’s chest and ripping out his heart. Alex held the heart in his hand as the man’s lifeless body crumpled to the ground. Alex held the heart for what seemed like an eternity before he remembered the spell that he needed to use.
Alex closed his eyes and with his left hand, raised his index finger and middle finger to the sky. His eyes reverted from their white forms, back to his original blue, as he cast a spell. “Soul’s, come unto me.”
A grey light erupted from the dead man’s heart. The glowing orb encircled Alex, flying lazily around him. Alex watched the orb in mild fascination before beginning his spell.
“Go tame za izuko onoono toki nor ichi keisen. Uxeito o hateshiganai kanerie watashi tame anata hitokoro ichidan,” Alex recited. Alex released the heart, and suddenly the heart disappeared in a thick cloud of smoke. When Alex turned back around both the remaining humans were on the ground begging for mercy.
Alex scoffed at their cowardice. “Show some dignity before you face your death. Die not like cowards, but like men. I have seen children with more courage than you.”
“Please, do not kill us. We will serve you, we will do anything you want!” one of the men exclaimed.
“Anything I want...,” Alex repeated softly.
Both men exchanged hopeful glances and quickly nodded in agreement. “Yes, anything your heart desires we shall do.”
Alex looked back at them and smiled wickedly. “Good, if you want to fulfill my hearts desire so badly, then I will let you do just that. You shall die.”
Alex’s words hit the men like a stone boulder. Both men turned deathly pale as they realized no matter what they did they would still perish at this man’s hands. In an instant, both men got up and tried to run away. Neither one made it five steps before Alex was beside them, holding their hearts in his hands. Alex repeated the spell once more, and just as before the hearts disappeared into the smoke.
That spell will keep their souls safe until I need them. The void where I sent them is unaffected by time and no mortal hands can reach them now. Now, to see how many more humans reside within this so called Cult of Rajah, Alex thought. He then turned back towards the demon who, he was pleased to see, remained exactly where he was. Alex stood before him and eyed him with curiosity before quietly asking him.
“How many humans are there within your organization?”
The demon trembled slightly at the question and looked as if he was about to not answer. Before he could say anything Alex added. “Your leader might kill you for telling, but believe me, I will do far worse if you don’t.”
The demon seemed to need no further encouragement and quickly replied to Alex’s question. “There are only about twelve humans within our organization. The rest are all demons.”
“Where is your hideout? Is it far from here?”
“No, it is at the base of the mountain. There is a cave there that is kept concealed by a spell.”
“If it is kept concealed, how will I find it?” Alex snapped, causing the demon to jump.
“There is a stone tablet in front of the entrance. It is marked with the symbol of the Dark Lord, to ward off all trespassers.”
“Heh, figures as much,” Alex stated. He debated whether or not he should pursue the cult and try to obtain as many hearts as he could. He figured it was better for him to start with the low life’s, that way they would not be missed. Alex turned away from the demon and headed toward his bag.
“Y-you’re not going to kill me?” the demon asked, surprised by the fact that he was still alive.
“There’s no need to. As I told your friends, I was only interested in the humans,” Alex replied without turning back.
“My Lord, what have the humans done to you to anger you this much?”
Alex stopped dead in his tracks and craned his neck to look back at the demon. “What did you call me?”
The demon’s eyes widened and he quickly covered his mouth. “I am sorry, I will tell no one. I didn’t mean to.”
Alex shook his head. “I had wanted to keep my identity a secret. Such a pity that you had to recognize me.” Alex looked at the demon once more. He sighed and turned around. “I guess I’ll have to kill you as well.”
The demon didn’t have a chance to scream before Alex’s claws tore into his throat. Alex flicked the blood from his claws and returned to his back. His ears picked up the sound of rushing water and after examining his appearance, decided he should wash off before going further. After washing himself off, and removing all the blood from his clothing and hair, Alex quickly set out towards the mountainside. Dusk was beginning to give way to day and for the first time since Brittany’s death, Alex was feeling the pains of hunger.
I guess now that I actually have a chance to get her back, I need to start taking care of myself, thought. He reached into his bag and grabbed a loaf of bread he had brought with him. He ate, even as he ran. Once he had reached the mountainside, he traveled along it, looking for the tablet of Scion.
“I swear to God if that damn demon was lying to me, there will be Hell to pay for his entire race!” Alex yelled after unsuccessfully finding any trace of the tablet or the entrance. It was then that Alex heard voices coming from up ahead. Alex darted behind some trees and watched to see several demons laughing and talking around a camp fire. Alex noticed that behind the demons rested a stone tablet, one that bore the engraving of the Lord of Darkness.
Alex grinned evilly, his eyes glowing as the sun peeked above the plain. “Perfect.”
Alex shouldered his pack once more and headed towards the group of demons. Without so much as a trace of fear, Alex boldly walked up to the group of ten demons. “So, where can I find the leader of the cult of Rajah?”
All ten heads turned towards him. Bloodthirsty curses and yells came from the demons as they grabbed their weapons and launched themselves at Alex. Alex smirked with a knowing look in his eyes as the demons charged him.
“For assassin’s, you sure aren’t very smart. You would think to consider the fact that if an unarmed man walks into the middle of your camp and knows who you are, he probably has a reason not to be afraid,” Alex stated. Right as he finished talking the first demon reached him. Alex shook his head as if looking at a disobedient child.
“Now, now, when will you learn? Never attacked an unarmed man unless you are willing to become unarmed yourself.”
With that, Alex jumped over the spear that was lunged at him. Alex flipped over the demon, taking hold of both his arms as he did so, and ripping them out of their sockets. The demon hollered in pain, but Alex paid no mind to his scream. His eyes were focused on the demons in front of him. Alex flexed his taloned hands out to either side of him and readied himself for battle.
“You don’t know who you’re messing with!” one of the demons yelled.
“That’s funny, I was about to say the same thing to you,” Alex replied. In a blur of motion Alex launched himself at the demons. He tore through them with ease. In a matter of seconds the forest, once alive with the sounds of battle, had returned to its natural silence. Blood dripped from the tree branches and Alex cursed himself for getting covered in blood once more.
“What will my host think of me if I am covered in blood?” Alex said aloud, looking towards the mountainside. He saw the faint shimmer among the rocks and knew he had found the entrance. “Well now, I believe it’s time I go and introduce myself.”
Author's Note: I've noticed this on all the other original stories and things like that. I've never really said it in mine, mainly because I didn't think I'd need too. But now I guess I might as well. *ahem* This is my story and I claim all rights to the characters and ideas used in this story. Thank you. ANYway, now that the formalities are over, what did you think? Alex only wanted the human souls, he didn't want to kill the other demons, they just sort of got in his way. Well, let me know what you think, I've got to go. Cya.
