Lucia walked towards Brittany, who was leaning against a white pillar and staring off into the sky. Brittany turned and looked at Lucia as he walked in. Before he could take two steps towards her she spoke. “I had another dream again.”
Lucia’s eyes widened in surprise. “Oh really, what was this one like? Was it like the others you have had?”
“No, this one was different,” Brittany said softly. She looked away from Lucia, and instantly he knew something was wrong.
“Well, why don’t you tell me about it. How was this one different from the others,” Lucia asked. By now his curiosity was thoroughly peaked. Usually Brittany had told him her dreams with enthusiasm. He wondered what made her so reluctant to tell him now.
“Well, at first my dreams were of a man. I couldn’t see his face, but I could feel what he was feeling. At first, this man was full of unbearable sorrow. He had lost something dear to him and didn’t know how to cope with the loss. He cried for what he lost, even though he did not physically cry, his heart cried for whatever it was that he lost.”
Lucia nodded, knowing too well what Brittany’s so called dreams really were. She can sense him. Even here, even without knowing who he is, she can still sense him. She feels what he feels and sees what he sees. She believes them to be dreams and nothing more, maybe that is good. If I am right, she wouldn’t want to know the horrors that will soon be taking place so that this man will see her again.
“So what was different about this one?”
“This time, the man who had lost something dear to him, he was no longer crying. His heart was full of pain, but it too had stopped crying. All his feelings of sadness and sorrow, all his desires, passions, and wants were all simply blocked out. He removed any emotion he had, any emotion he could, leaving only one thing within him. He left only one desire, only one thought now courses through his body. He keeps repeating over and over, I will bring her back. This one thought is what is motivating him now. He ‘s started on a journey to bring back what he lost. His soul, his heart, everything about him wants to bring back what he lost, but in the process he fears he will lose himself. He’s started on a journey that even if he completes, he is afraid he will not return. Yet, despite all this, still, the only thought that courses through his head, is I will bring her back.”
Lucia could see that Brittany was nearly in tears as she told him about her dream. He didn’t know whether or not she wanted to be comforted or not. He knew that if she remembered anything about her past she wouldn’t, but now, without her memories, she was frail and defenseless. Even as Lucia thought this Brittany calmed herself and asked him another question.
“Lucia, what do these dreams mean?”
Lucia smiled beneath the folds of his cloak, knowing she could not see it. “I cannot tell you that. You must discover the answers for yourself.”
“Why can’t you tell me! If you know, why can’t you tell me what they mean!”
“Because, for one, the council of elders would crucify me if they found out I had helped you out in anyway. If it weren’t for other problems within the Demon Realm right now, I’d probably would have already been called for a meeting about harboring you here.”
Brittany became deep in thought as she recollected on all that he had told her. “Well, I wouldn’t want you to get into trouble on my part.”
“Good,” Lucia stated. A new thought entered his head and he drew back his cloak. He looked into the sky with a far away look and whispered. “It’s almost time.”
Every time Brittany saw Lucia without his hood on, he took her breath away. His spiky blonde hair, dazzling blue eyes, and a small blue tattoo beneath both his eyes seemed comforting in someway. Whenever she looked at him, she thought of someone else. Someone who resembled him in someway. Someone who was kind like him, and who had the same eyes at him. Brittany was so lost in her thoughts that she barely heard what Lucia had said. The moment she registered his words she looked at him.
“Almost time for what?”
Lucia looked at her and laughed softly. E ran his fingers through his hair nervously. “Oh, it’s nothing.”
Brittany’s smirk told him that she didn’t buy what he had said. He could tell that she was about to press for further information, and his mind quickly looked for an excuse to get out her interrogation. “Well, I’d better got towards the gates. I need to check on something before I take my post in the judgement hall.”
Brittany frowned at him leaving but nodded grudgingly. Lucia smiled and waved a quick goodbye to her.
I can see now why you fell for her. To tell you the truth, if it wasn’t forbidden, and if I didn’t know so much about what was going on, I might have fallen for her too.
“Lucia?” Brittany called quietly.
Lucia stopped in his tracks and turned around to face her. “Yes?”
“Do you think he’ll ever bring back what he’s lost? The man from my dreams, I mean.”
Lucia smiled at Brittany’s innocent question. Not knowing whether to laugh or cry at how serious she was, even though she didn’t know how much of a big part she played in her own question. Without a hint of doubt Lucia calmly replied. “Yes, of course he will.”
Brittany smiled and turned to gaze up at the sky. “I’m glad. His hearts so full of sadness, even if he does try to block it out. He deserves to be happy.”
Lucia stole one last look at Brittany before leaving. He does deserve to be happy, but then again, so do you. He’ll come for you no matter what it takes. Even if he does lose himself in the process, the moment he finds you, he will find himself again. It’s only a matter of time.
Alex stepped into the darkened inner chamber of the cave. He was become increasingly aware of darting movements within the darkness, but he sensed no hostility as of yet. Glowing eyes of all colors peered at him through the darkness. He silently dared them, even wished that they would attack him.
I cannot smell any humans. He had better be right about this, Alex thought as he continued through the cave. He was following the glowing eyes, sensing that they were leading him someplace. Sure enough, after a few moments of following the eyes, Alex was beckoned in to a large chamber. It was lit with candles, and Alex instantly realized where he was.
“The Arena of Rajah,” Alex muttered. He noted the coliseum style seating, along with high walls and battle arena in front of him. The seats were already filled by what Alex guessed, were the members of the Cult of Rajah. Their murmuring stopped the moment Alex walked in. All eyes were on him, and Alex instantly realized that they had been expecting him. Alex heard a loud ‘clink’, behind him. He didn’t even need to look back to know that the door had been locked behind him.
Well, guess that only leaves one option. I should’ve been more careful. I should’ve expected something like this, thought bitterly as he strolled forwards towards the front of the arena. Alex smiled wickedly as he finally picked up the scent of several humans. Good, so this trip wasn’t for nothing after all.
Alex’s thoughts were interrupted as a loud booming voice called out to him. “Greetings, you are either very brave or very stupid to wander into here. Given the fact that as of now you have killed almost twenty of my assassins, I will believe that you are very brave.”
Alex’s eyes shot towards the direction of where the voice was coming from. There, seated high above everyone else, was a man cloaked in black and red. His face was wrapped in black cloth, an evil grin and malice filled, glowing eyes were all Alex could make out. Alex glared at the man, a low growl escaped his throat. He felt like a caged animal, and that was a feeling he didn’t particularly enjoy.
“Cut the crap. I take it you are the leader of these men. I would hate to kill you all so I suggest you listen well. My only interest is in the humans you have working for you. Give them to me and I will promise you that you will be able to continue living your miserable excuses for lives,” Alex said in a tone that showed he meant business. Alex’s instant dislike for the man was obvious. Despite him trying to suppress his demonic energy, Alex allowed a little to lash out at the man. Just to show him that he didn’t stand a chance.
To Alex’s surprise the man smiled after feeling Alex’s power. “Well now, you do mean business don’t you. Well, we have a certain way of doing things down here. So, if you want the lives of my men, I shall offer them to the victor of the battles.”
“I don’t have time for your stupid games! Give me those men, or I shall kill every last one of you!” Alex roared.
The man stood up and laughed. “You are strong, but you cannot defeat us all.”
“I’ve heard that from many a dead men. You are not the first to say that to me, nor shall you be the last.”
“Is that a threat? Do you dare threaten me? The man who commands a hundred assassins. The man who could end your life in an instant.”
“I don’t make threats to dead men. I only make promises.”
Author's Note: See, I told you Brittany would start coming in more. To be honest, she plays more of an important role in this, than Alex does. Won't say too much more, if you'll keep reading, you'll find out soon enough. Also, more fight scenes are on their way! Cya.
