The man scoffed at Alex’s boldness. “Good, you have spirit. I’ll make you a deal. If you are so thirsty for blood then you shall have it.” The man took a knife at his waist and slid the sharp blade across his hand. Blood dripped from his hand and he held it for Alex to see. “Come, drink if you are so thirsty.”
Alex roared at the man’s insolence. He launched himself at the man with ferocity. He jumped up and propelled himself off of the wall and towards the man. As Alex neared him, several demons launched themselves at his flying form. Alex spun around in midair, lashing out at all who dared to stand in his way. Blood sprayed all around him as he landed on the banister before the man. His long white hair twirled around him, his eyes glowing with rage.
“Do you still want me to drink?” Alex asked with an evil grin.
The man nodded and smiled. He moved his hand towards the armrest of his chair. He looked at Alex with evil intention glinting in his eyes. “Yes, come, drink your own blood!”
Before Alex could react, the floor beneath his feet gave way sending him falling towards the arena floor. Alex dug his claws into the side of the wall and tried to flip back up towards the man, but before he could demons were launching themselves at him from all sides.
Alex was sent pummeling towards the floor with demons all over him. He didn’t have time to lash out at them before he connected with the hard floor. Alex’s breath was momentarily knocked out of him, but he knew better than to lie still with this many enemies after him. Alex quickly shot upwards, out of the moving mass of bodies beneath him. Alex twirled around in air, astonished to see that the coliseum seats had cleared out. All of the demons who had been watching him were now waiting for him on the arena floor.
Shit..., Alex thought as he descended into the mass of bodies. He locked eyes with the masked man, the underlying hate between them increased with every passing second. Alex readied himself for his descent, not wanting to reveal his true form unless absolutely necessary. He landed, claws thrashing and slashing at everything that moved.
The man in the mask watched as the bodies of his own men were sent flying through the air as the man with white hair effortlessly slaughtered his most ruthless assassins. It’s been along time since I’ve felt this much hate and bloodlust consuming a man. I looked at him with nothing but contempt and rage, yet he looked at me as if I was nothing. That man has eyes of one who has slaughtered countless hundreds. These poor fools don’t stand a chance against him.
“Kill him, make him pay for insulting the Cult of Rajah. I command you now, fight till your dying breath. Fight for me, fight for Senka!”
So, Senka’s this bastard’s name. I’ll have to remember to carve it into his grave before I leave, Alex bitterly thought as he twirled around and slashed at a demon behind him. He felt a sword graze his side, and a spear hit his shoulder. That bastard’s going to pay.
“Oh, that reminds me brave warrior. Those humans you want so badly, they are down there fighting you even as I speak. So, if you want to get to them, I suggest you hurry,” Senka taunted.
“Oh, that bastards going to pay when I get out of here!” Alex roared. His body was covered in cuts, he had a spear lodged through his left leg and a dagger through his right arm. Several chains covered in blades were attached to both his arms and several demons were trying to contain him. Alex roared with rage, pulling the chains together and yanking the demons towards him. Alex viciously slaughtered any demons that neared him, but still there were more coming.
Fuck, I need to find those damn humans. That bastard knows that I need them, that’s the reason he put them in here. I can’t go after him until I’ve found them. Still, the moment I find them, I’ll go straight for Senka, Alex thought. Even as he did so several darts zipped past his head. Some stabbed in his back. Alex could instantly feel the affects of whatever poison or drugs that the darts were laced with as they coursed through his body. His body began to feel sluggish, and his reaction time was slower, thus enabling his enemies to get in more attacks on him.
Despite Alex trying desperately to fight back, the poison on the darts was so potent that he was barely able to move. Several more darts pierced his skin, at the same time a demon jumped onto his back, he had dagger in each hand and mercilessly stabbed them into Alex’s shoulders.
Alex roared with pain and he felt his legs start to go out beneath him. Even with his body being riddled with pain Alex’s main focus was on Senka. His hate filled eyes looked upward, towards the place where he was sure he would see Senka’s gloating face. Instead, he saw an empty chair and no sign of Senka. Alex’s eyes quickly darted around the room, trying to spot his quarry. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to find him soon enough.
Senka’s rock hard fist slammed into Alex’s face. The demon’s around him held him tight so that he wouldn’t fall backwards from the sheer force of the punch. Senka glared at Alex, sneering with pride and contempt as he grabbed Alex’s throat and lifted his face to look at him.
“I know you want to kill me. I can see it in your eyes. You hate me with every fiber of your being right now, don’t you? Those darts that you have been hit with are my own special concoction. A mixture of all this realms most powerful sedatives and numerous other ingredients. No one, can stand after being hit with them. I am surprised that you were able to stand as long as you did after being hit with so many. Still, it matters little. Just as everyone else who has been infected with my darts, you fell soon enough. Heh, you should see yourself as I see you. Covered in your own blood. Your face and hair covered with blood, your body torn to shreds. You killed a lot of my men, but in the end you were no match for them. Now, what do you have to say for yourself. I am a generous man, you can beg for your mercy,” Senka said with a laugh.
Senka’s laugh was cut short as Alex spit blood into his face. “Sorry, but I’m no longer thirsty. I’d much rather taste your blood than my own.”
Senka’s eyes glowed with rage and disgust. “Fine then. You don’t like the taste of your own blood? Then I will let you drown in it.”
Senka raised his hand to lash out at Alex, but he stopped in midair as Alex stared laughing in a low pitched tone. His voice growing lower as his demonic energy swirled around him.
“I had wanted to keep my identity a secret, but now I guess I’ll just have to kill every last one of you!” Alex roared.
Senka backed up in shock as Alex transformed before him. The demons who held onto his limbs continued to hold on out of shock and disbelief. They wanted to let go, but their bodies wouldn’t respond to their mind’s thoughts, due to the fear that began to consume them.
Once Alex was completely transformed he looked to either side of him, glaring at the demons that held his limbs. His lips curved into a cruel smile. His fangs amplified his already frightening appearance, but what scared the demons the most was his eyes. The demons bodies finally got the picture their mind was sending to them, but now even though they tried to release their grip on Alex they couldn’t. When they looked down at their hands they saw red tentacles working their way through the demon’s hands and up through their arms.
The demon’s screamed in horror as Alex’s Devil Armor coursed through their body. Suddenly, after a moment of uncertainty, Alex simply walked forwards toward the stunned form of Senka. The demons that held his limbs shook violently before blood began spurting from wounds that opened up withing their bodies. Blood sprayed in the air as Alex walked up to Senka.
“Now whose blood shall I drink?” Alex whispered evilly. Senka’s eyes widened in fear, but he quickly tried to regain his composure.
“Please my Lord, I did not know it was you. If it is the human’s lives you want, I shall gladly give them to you. They are below this arena in the catacombs. I put them there because I knew you were searching for humans. One of our men saw what you did to Balfour and the others and I knew you would be coming here.”
Alex stopped and stared at the man before him. The man who had claimed to be the demon of shadows. The man feared by hundreds was now bargaining with him. He was trying to spare his own life by giving away the life of his men.
“You are pathetic. You command these men, you should be willing to sacrifice your life in their stead. Not bargain with their lives so that you might live!” Alex told him. Then a new thought entered his mind and his eyes widened with realization. “You mean to tell me, that I went through all that and the humans weren’t even here?”
Senka instantly realized what he had done and even beneath the folds of his back mask, Alex could tell that he was paling. As Alex stared at the man he noticed something about him. Alex looked at Senka and smiled wickedly. “You are a panther demon, are you not?”
Senka was shocked at Alex’s words and Alex could tell that he was right. “How did you know?”
“I like to know what kind of demon I kill, that way I don’t wipe out their species,” Alex replied coldly. Senka’s eyes widened with realization of what Alex was about to do, but before he could react, Alex reached up and grabbed both daggers out of his shoulder blades. Blood spurted from his back as he did so but he didn’t care. Alex then stabbed both daggers through Senka’s shoulders, piercing him to the wall. Alex leaned in close to him and whispered. “Wait right here, I’ll be back for you.”
Alex then turned his back on Senka and faced the hordes of demons ,that only seconds earlier were ready to rip him limb from limb. Now, they looked at him with uncertainty and fear. They looked at each other with fleeting glances, each one realizing that they wouldn’t stand a chance against Alex unless they did something quickly.
Alex waited in the calm before the storm. He knew that any second the peaceful silence would be broken by the sounds of battle and the screams of death. Just as he thought that, the silent bond holding the demons away from him broke. In the blink of an eye all the demons launched themselves at Alex. Their weapons were readied and their minds were reeling with possible ways to kill him. They were men possessed by the fear of death. That fact alone made them stronger, and made them deadlier.
Alex didn’t show the slightest hesitation as the charging group of demons made their way towards him. His face was a cold stone of apathy, but his muscles flexed involuntarily at the thought of combat. Alex raised his right hand in front of him and the moment the first group of demons got to him, he allowed himself a small smile.
The moment the demons saw his smile they instantly knew they had made a mistake. Before they were able to call out and warn their counterparts, Alex was upon them. His claws slashed through their flesh and bones with ease. Their blades tried to connect with his chest, but instead of meeting flesh they connected with red tentacles as Alex allowed his Devil Armor to consume him. Their blades broke on impact but that mattered little to them. They knew they were dead men even with their weapons. Without them, their death would only come sooner.
Alex twirled in a circle, decapitating two demons with his claws and freeing another from the use of its arms. A spear was lunged at Alex’s legs, but by this time his Devil Armor had begun to cover them too. Alex launched himself over the spear and into a group of demons. They slashed and hacked at him, but their blades and weapons broke the moment they connected. Alex dug his claws into the chest of one demon, literally ripping him in half before starting on another. Alex didn’t even bother to duck beneath a large broadsword that was aimed for his chest. Instead, he lunged straight at it! The blade shattered upon impact, allowing Alex to pounce upon the demon who wielded it. Even as Alex fought the hordes of demons his mind was at war with itself.
I shouldn’t kill them. This isn’t right. Just because they know who I am, that doesn’t give me the right to take their lives. All that matters is the human lives. So why am I killing them?
They are murderers by trade, they deserve to die. They all deserve to die at my hands. Their deaths are justified by all the innocent people they have killed. By killing them, I am only ending another unnecessary evil that plagues this realm.
If killing them is justification for the people they have killed, what is my justification for all the people I have killed? Was Brittany’s death really the result of my actions? If so, is it really right to bring her back? No, I mustn’t second guess myself. I will bring her back, I will be happy again, and I will have the love of my life by my side. Nothing these pathetic demons can do will stop me.

Author's Note: Okay, I'm starting to get the hang of updating regularly. So, I hope you will bear with me through the rest of this story. This is the first time you really see Alex start to mentally debate with himself, as he tries to decide what to do. Throughout the story, you will see Alex begin to debate whether or not he is doing the right thing. This is only the beginning of his hard journey, both his heart and soul will be tried and tested before he can even begin to think about getting Brittany back.
