“I honestly can’t believe that we’re even talking about the same Demon Lord that once flaunted his power over his entire realm,” Zemnas wearily said. He rested his head in his hands and softly asked. “Explain it to me once more. Tell me why you think this man is the answer, and tell me how you intend to control him.”
Lucia sighed, knowing too well that even he himself was confused at all the information that was coursing through his head. He couldn’t even hope to have someone else understand until he himself could make sense of the madness in his head. He took a deep breath and tried to clear his thoughts. Only focusing on what was really important and trying to push the other information aside.
“This Devil, has used every trick in the book to keep Alex under his control. That is because he is afraid of Alex’s capabilities. He knows that if Alex were to ever find out the truth, it would lead to his demise and his plans would be ruined. The reason I haven’t told Alex myself, the truth, is because Alex has been consumed by the Devil’s essence. Anything I told him now, he would never believe. He would turn a deaf ear to me and probably try to kill me. The only way I could figure out, to actually have some control over him, is to continue feeding his heart’s desire. I had to separate him from this Devil, break him apart and thus weaken his control over Alex. By setting Alex out on this journey, I had hoped to purify the essence surrounding him, for at the time, it was not that strong. Once Alex made contact with Brittany spirit, however, he became a completely different person. The Devil’s influence over him became unimaginable. So that, not even I could locate Alex with my all seeing eye, just because the darkness shielded him from me. When I finally did find him, the Devil’s control over him had increased so much, that I could barely believe the person before me was the same man who I had first met. Alex’s will is strong, and deep inside of him, he knows something is wrong. But they say love is blind, and Demon Lord or not, he is no exception.”
“Still, for someone to use this man’s love and devotion to his wife and child for his own personal gain, that is atrocious. This man truly is a Devil to do this,” Shimera stated angrily.
Lucia looked away at her comment. Even though she had not meant it in regards to him, he knew that, that was exactly what he was doing. Her words reminded him of what Brittany had said earlier to him.
“Calm down, Shimera. Do not be so quick to judge. That is what Lucia is doing as well, and you know that he is no Devil. Every man is either ruled by his heart or his mind. Finding that out, is the first step to understanding and to controlling someone. This so called, Lord of Demons, is controlled by his heart. Therefore to control him, you must first control the object of his affection. Lucia has the upper hand in that case. Still, the fact that this Devil has so much control over Alex is a bothersome fact,” Tristan said, intervening on Lucia’s behalf.
Lucia looked relieved that Tristan had stood up for him. When Shimera looked at Lucia once again, they were no longer filled with sorrow but detest. “As I said before, only a Devil could do something as cruel and as vicious as that. I’m almost afraid to ask, but if this Devil has Alex believing that he is doing something for Brittany, how do you plan on controlling him?”
Lucia took a deep breath, knowing the outcome he would receive if he told her. Despite his intentions not to be affected by her, he couldn’t help but not want to make her upset. The way she looked at him, with eyes that pleaded to him that he stop what he was doing, to stop going down a path that would only lead to pain and suffering; she reminded him of Brittany. Lucia looked away from, knowing that he couldn’t bare to tell her the truth.
“Tell me Lucia! Tell me how you plan on controlling him!” Shimera yelled.
“Shimera, calm down,” Zemnas ordered. “Lucia is doing only what he believes to be best. He is no Devil, so we have no right to condemn him as one. Let’s hear the boy out.”
Zemnas turned back to Lucia and continued. “I would however, like to hear how, exactly, you plan on controlling him.”
Lucia cleared his throat before answering. “He has already followed the path I have set out for him, because he believes in doing so, he will be able to bring back his wife and child.”
“What!” Shimera yelled, ignoring the looks from the other elders. “How could you do that, Lucia? I would’ve thought you to have more sense than that. To have more compassion than that as well. Were you the one who first guided him in the direction of bringing his wife and child back?”
Lucia nodded weakly. His resolve wilted beneath this woman’s fiery gaze.
“Then you are just as much at fault for Alex’s damnation is, as the Devil himself. The only way the Devil was able to control him, was by making Alex believe he was doing it for Brittany. By making Alex believe that by following her orders he could bring her back. None of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t interfered!”
“Silence!” Zemnas yelled.
Shimera looked at Zemnas with hate in her eyes, but she quickly looked away, knowing she had overstepped her boundaries. Once Zemnas was sure that she wasn’t going to say more, he turned his attention back onto Lucia, who felt thoroughly miserable by this point.
“Now, even though what Shimera just said was due to her losing control over her emotions, she is correct in the fact that the Devil gaining leverage over Alex, is still technically your fault. So, tell me what all this Devil has done. I want to know how he’s been able to keep one step ahead of you, no matter what you have tried to do. You were always a brilliant strategist, Lucia. The fact that you thought of Alex, and found out why the Devil hadn’t interfered in the first place, is proof alone of your genius. So how has this Devil been able to match wits with you?”
Lucia sighed and shook his head. “I honestly do not know. That is why, at first, I believed that someone had been helping him. The fact that I suspected any of you now seems ludicrous. I am sorry for that earlier belief. As for all this Devil has done, he has set up everything precisely. So that no matter what happens, the end result will be in the death of Alex.”
“So he wants Alex dead. I figured as much, but how does he intend to do this? If he openly fights with Alex, that will reveal the truth about himself and about his identity. If his goals are what we believe them to be and what are all seeing eyes have predicted them to be, then he can’t afford to reveal his true identity. Alex is not a foe to be taken lightly. Even if he is blinded by the darkness, he won’t just allow someone to kill him. He would use his powers, if it meant saving his life so that he might continue trying to bring his mate and child back,” Tristan stated.
“That’s just it. At first, I had thought as you have. Believing that Alex would be smart enough and rational enough to use his powers. After seeing him as he is now, I know that without a doubt, if it came to dying or using his power; he would choose death.”
“That still doesn’t explain how this Devil actually plans on killing Alex, though. As Tristan stated, he won’t dare show his true form until all his plans are complete. Alex is the one wildcard in his plan that must be taken care of before he can start the final stages on any of his other plans,” Zemnas added.
“He is going to start a war. He’s using the fact that Alex is killing the humans as an excuse for the armies of the realm to stand against him. Normally, they wouldn’t stand a chance against Alex, much less hope to actually defeat him. The problem is, is the fact that he refuses to use his demonic power or the power of the crystals. He would fight them in his human form, unwilling to unleash any of the power within himself. He would use only his natural power, and the power bestowed on him from the Devil’s influence that is controlling him.”
Aurhor's Note: Not much to say. I'm about to throw in a movie, so I'll keep it short. Please review, hope you like the update!
