“Well then, let’s see if these men of yours are capable of killing a Devil,” Alex taunted.
“Destroy him,” Raion growled.
It was in that instant, that the true battle began. The demons all charged at Alex, their blades and claws readied for battle. Without hesitation, Alex launched himself into the fray. He felt their blades dig deep into his skin, but he didn’t care. Right then, he just wanted to make them pay for desecrating Cherish’s body. He twirled around in a circle, letting the Devil Armor consume part of his arm allowing him to slice through all those close to him with ease. He quickly retracted the Devil Armor after using it, for fear that he might let it consume him once again.
Several demons piled on top of Alex, trying to knock him to the ground, which at first they succeeded. The moment Alex got his hands on the ground, however, he easily shoved himself back up, throwing them off of him. This however, gave the others a perfect chance to strike at him. Two demons plunged spears through both his legs, stabbing the spears deep into the ground, pinning him there for a second. Four more demons came charging at him from all sides, blade in hand, ready to see if they could finish him off quickly. Alex quickly bent over to break the spears, but the moment he moved his arms, he felt several chains wrap around his wrists and forearms. Alex looked up to see his arms bound by jagged chains, which blades were digging deep into his skin. When Alex tried to pull free, he realized that he wasn’t moving whoever was holding onto the other end. As soon as he looked back, he realized why. There, on each end of the chains, were ten elephant demons, better known as Gigantes. Each one weighed well over five tons, and with the amount that were holding on to him, Alex knew he wouldn’t be able to move them.
Shit, I’d better activate the crystals, otherwise this might start to get a little complicated, Alex thought dryly. He closed his eyes and tried to draw upon the power of the crystals. His eyes snapped open as he realized that he couldn’t activate them. He quickly looked around to see what might be stopping them. What he saw, were ten glowing blue strands of light, each one wrapping itself around one of the chains that bound him.
Binding spells? Who in the Hell would be casting a binding spell? Much less have the precision and mental stability to hold it this long, especially against me! Who in the Hell is doing this? No demon should be able to cast any spells, and I highly doubt the mages would get involved. So who?
Alex turned his head, knowing that within a hair’s breath of time, the blade wielding demons would be upon him. Alex quickly scanned the crowd of demons that surrounded him, trying to pick out who could be casting the spell. When his eyes finally laid rest upon the ones responsible for the spell, he couldn’t believe it.
The two elves that had been traveling companions of Rire, were now on either side of the Gigantes. Their hands were on the chains, and Alex could see their mouths moving quickly to continue the spell.
Shit, the spell they’re using isn’t strong, but it is a good one. They’re using the wounds in my arm as a medium for their binding spell. By putting their binding spell inside my body, they are able to increase its effectiveness. Despite the fact that I want to rip them to shreds right now, I’ve go to hand it to them. That’s what you call thinking on your feet. Between Rire and them, they would’ve made one Hell of a team. That is, if I hadn’t killed him already.
Alex looked back at the elves and then ahead at the forms of Aurora and Raion, who stood ahead watching the scene unfold. The blade demons were only a few feet away from Alex, who knew that unless something happened in the next few seconds, he might actually lose this battle.
“Why in the Hell, does it seem like every time I get into a bind, it’s always because of you damn elves! Everywhere I’ve fucking turned today, an elf or a demon of this army has tried to kill me! I’ve already killed one elf today, I regret that, but I won’t hesitate to kill two more if they continue to stand in my fucking way!” Alex roared.
Raion held up his hand just as the four demons came within striking distance of Alex. Despite the odd not being in his favor, Alex kept his eyes open, even as the blades came crashing down upon his neck. Much to Alex’s relief, however, the blades rested on his neck without going any further. It was then that the rain ended, giving Alex a perfect view of those who stood before him.
Aurora looked shocked that the demons had halted their attack. She angrily turned toward Raion and demanded him tell her what was going on. “What the Hell is this? Kill him while you can! Don’t wait and don’t give him time to think of how to get out of this. You have him now, so kill him! You know as well as I do what will happen if we let him live, don’t you?”
Alex couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He knew that Aurora wanted to fight him, but still he couldn’t believe how far she was taking this. He couldn’t believe that out of all of them, she was screaming for his death the loudest of all.
Alex stared in disbelief. So much that he even reverted back to his human form as he watched Aurora cry out for his death. He was stunned that she would do this.
“Raion, we won’t be able to hold him forever. He killed Rire, for that alone he should be sentenced to death. Much less the death of Baou, and of all these innocent humans,” Eltrio argued.
Raion raised his hand once more to silence them. To others, the look in his eyes might’ve intimidated them. To Alex, the look in his eyes was just pissing him off.
“What the Hell do you want Raion?” Alex snapped. After a minute of silence Alex continued. “If you don’t want anything then quit staring at me and get this over with!”
“I won’t have you executed unless I have to. Besides, it wouldn’t sit well with me if I killed a man who was fighting with all his heart,” Raion replied finally.
Aurora’s eyes opened in shock at Raion’s words. She couldn’t believe what he had just said. “Raion, he nearly took my head off! He’s already killed almost twenty men! How in the world can you say he’s not fighting with all his heart?”
“Look at his eyes and you can tell. That man’s heart is at war with itself right now. He hasn’t even used his Devil Armor. That alone should tell you something’s not right.”
Aurora stopped and looked in Alex’s direction, but Alex quickly turned his head away the moment she did so.
“Raion, I don’t know....”
“Aurora, we didn’t capture him because we are better than you. You know much better than I do, just what he is capable of. Even now if he wanted to, I’m pretty sure he could escape. It is for that reason, and the fact that I don’t want to have to fight with him, that I need to know something before this continues any farther.” Raion turned his attention back to Alex and continued. “I want to know why you did this, but more importantly, I want to know if it was in fact you that killed Baou and Rire.”
Alex’s hair covered his eyes, so it was hard to tell what exactly was going through his head at this point, but when he finally gave his answer it was unmistakable. “They died by my hands. So, yes, I am the one who killed them.”
“Why?”
“They tried to stop me from completing my goal. They stood in my way, so I made sure they would never stand in my way ever again,” Alex replied softly.
“That’s deplorable,” Raion said with disgust. “To think so little of someone’s life like that. Have you ever stopped to consider that you might be putting others through the same pain you feel over losing your mate?”
Raion waited for Alex to respond, but when he never did Raion continued. “Fine, in that case I have but one more thing to ask you. I want to know if you’ll willingly turn yourself in for your crimes. If you give up on this damn quest to bring your mate back, then as much as I hate to say it, nothing will happen to you. Just quit this damn foolishness and go back to where you belong.”
“I can’t do that. For me to go back where I belong, that would be with Brittany. The only way I could do that is by ending my life. I can’t do that, because I have unfinished business I have to handle before I can even consider dying. There is one last person I must kill. No matter how many tomorrow’s may come, I know I shall never find the love I am searching for. The only way I will be able to see her again is if I die.”
“Then why the Hell did you kill all these people to try and bring her back?”
“That’s a question I myself cannot answer,” Alex said softly.
“Just why in the Hell not?”
“Because I too, am searching for that answer.”
“Then you have chosen your fate. I am truly sorry, but this must be done. Get ready,” Raion instructed. He looked away as his men drew their swords back, preparing for the final strike.
Alex wasn’t worried about the blades that were being drawn against him, what was bothering him however, was the fact that Aurora’s hate filled gaze never once wavered as they prepared to strike him down.
So much for lasting friendships, Alex thought dryly. Fuck, no way in Hell I’m about to die here. I still have a promise to keep. Fuck it, I can’t move, nor can I use the power of the crystals. I don’t want to have to rely on the power of the Devil Armor, but that looks to be my only choice. Shit, what am I so afraid of? I never used to have a problem with using my power before. What was it that Raza said? This power, it’s my birthright. Fuck it. I can’t die, not here, not now. I’ve got too much to do, to die at the hands of these fuckers.
“Do it,” Raion commanded.
Alex saw the blades coming at him from all direction. He quickly transformed back into his demonic form. He closed his eyes to focus on controlling and manipulating is Devil Armor, with only one thought coursing through his mind. Trust in the Devil Armor.

Author's Note: Geez...I was reading what I made Alex say. I never realized how much I really made him cuss before...but given the situations he's been through, I guess he's allowed to cuss as much as he wants : /
