Suddenly, Alex launched himself out from behind the tentacle wall. His fist connected with Raion’s face, cracking his jaw. Raion was sent flying backwards, but before he could be sent too far, red tentacles launched themselves at him and wrapped around his body. Alex then quickly swung him toward the ground, shattering the ground around the sight of impact. The tentacles quickly withdrew themselves back into Alex’s arm, and Alex then proceeded to walk over toward the downed form of Raion.
“Alex, don’t do this! I’ve talked to Brittany! Her soul is weeping at what you are doing. She is crying her heart out because of all the blood you have shed. You’re killing her, Alex. You’re killing her over and over again every time you do something like this. If you really loved her you would stop this!” Aurora yelled.
Alex stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to face her. “Don’t you dare speak as if you know her. Don’t you dare speak as if you know what she wants!”
“You’re only getting angry because you know it’s true! You want to know why I’m fighting so hard to kill you. It’s because Brittany told me that if you continued down this path then this world would be destroyed. Think about it, Alex! Your heart is connected to the heart of this realm. If your heart dies and is consumed by darkness, than that too shall become the fate of this realm.”
“You lie. I too have seen Brittany, and trust me, she is not what she appears.”
“I don’t! I’ve seen Brittany. She told me that she tried to talk to you, but you couldn’t see her. I don’t know what you may have thought you’ve seen, Alex, but it wasn’t Brittany.”
“For once, you are correct. It wasn’t Brittany, but neither was the one you have been speaking with.”
“How can you be sure? I can hear the doubt in your voice.”
“Shut up! I don’t care, I have been deceived once, I won’t let my heart be deceived again and given false hope!”
“It’s not false hope. I know that if you continue down this path, you will result in the death of all of us. That is what Brittany said!”
“Shut up!” Alex roared. He raised his right hand and held it out toward Aurora. Before Aurora realized what was happening, several razor sharp tentacles launched themselves out at her.
Aurora closed her eyes and cringed as she awaited the stinging pain of the blades. She felt warm blood spatter all around her, but she didn’t realize what had happened until she opened her eyes. The look on Alex’s face told her that he too, wasn’t expecting what had happened.
“Y-you...okay...kid?” Raion asked weakly. Blood dripped from his lips as he spoke. Aurora was too petrified to respond. There before her, Raion was pierced by several tentacles, all of which had been intended for Aurora.
“Damn fool,” Alex cursed.
“W-why...why did you?” Aurora stammered.
“I promised someone very dear to you that I would protect you no matter what. I intend to keep that promise, even if it costs me my life,” Raion replied solemnly.
An image of himself and Brittany flashed through Alex’s mind after hearing Raion’s words. An ounce of regret manifested itself on his face, but he quickly shoved it away. At the same time however, he realized just how much the Devil Armor had consumed him.
The Devil Armor that had consumed much of Alex’s body began to slowly disappear. All that remained of it, after a few moments, was the part that was still attached to his arm. Alex retracted the tentacles from Raion’s body, making sure he got to him before Raion collapsed to the ground. Before Raion could collapse, Alex slammed his fist deep in to Raion’s stomach, causing Raion to throw up even more blood. He then quickly pulled his hand back, flexed his muscles, and hit Raion in the side of the head with a bone cracking backhand. Raion collapsed to the ground from the punishing blow, leaving Aurora alone to defend herself from Alex.
Oh, God. This is it. This is the end. Shadow, oh God. I’ll never be able to see you again. I’ll never be able to experience the joy of being a mother, or really starting a real life together with you. I’m so sorry. We should’ve never come here. Please, please forgive me, Shadow. I will always love you.
In a split second Alex was upon Aurora. His clawed hand aiming for the area that contained the one thing most precious to her at this second.
“N-no!” Aurora screamed. She instantly moved her hands to try and protect her stomach, even though she knew she could do little to stop the attack from coming none the less.
Even as Alex reared back to strike at her, his ears caught a faint sound that made even his blood run cold. The sound was faint, but Alex’s sensitive ears could catch the sound.
Heartbeats. More than just hers. They’re coming from her stomach. Shit, she’s pregnant!
Those thoughts rushed through Alex’s mind in the fraction of a second before the realization of what he was about to do hit him. With a quick movement, Alex slammed his right hand hard into the ground. His punch changed his momentum, allowing him to flip over Aurora, avoiding attacking her stomach.
What, he had me? He could’ve killed me right then, but he didn’t? Aurora thought in shock. She turned to see where he landed, only to have a hand appear in front of her face.
“A battlefield is not a place for a pregnant woman. Go back to Shadow, I’m sure he’s worried about you. Don’t throw your life away for a useless cause, and don’t interfere in what I have to do,” Alex said in a grave voice. Before Aurora could respond, Alex released a pulse of demonic energy which sent her flying backwards and knocking her through several remnants of stone before finally laying her body on the ground.
The wind began to pick up around Alex as he returned to his normal form. He once again headed to his bag and threw it over his shoulder. He looked toward the Southern Realm, debating what he should do next. Regardless of what he did, there was one thing that he had learned from this.
Aurora has talked to Brittany. She said this realm would be destroyed if I continued down this path that I now walk. Aurora was right about one thing, before I can do anything else I need to know the truth. I need to find out whether or not the person that appeared before her was the real Brittany. The only way to do that is nearly impossible, but I have to do this. I have to talk to Brittany.

Author's Note: This ends the madness that has consumed Alex. After this point, hopefully things will start to fall into place and you'll be able to gain a better perspective of what is going on. Next stop on this journey, enter in the Celestial Realm ; )
