Chapter 6:
Squall stared out of the window with blank eyes, his mind far away from Mrs. Perkins' class room. Not even the high-pitched
voice of Mrs. Perkins could reach his mind. Usually Squall was alert on history classes, but this time he was constantly
distracted by the memories of the previous weekend with Seifer.
::::::::::::::Flashback:::::::::::
Seifer stopped the Porsche in front of Squall's house. He turned off the radio and lay his hand on Squall's thigh, preventing the
younger boy from getting off just yet.
'Ok, gotta get this right...don't threaten him, just...act nice.' Seifer took a deep breath and met the brunette's eyes.
"Squall...umm...don't you agree that it's best if no one knows about this...I mean if the guys find out-"
"Oh don't worry Seifer; I won't tell anyone you actually wasted time with a geek like me! I mean, we don't want to ruin your
precious reputation, do we?!" the younger boy hissed, the tone of his voice filled with anger and hurt. Squall moved Seifer's
hand away and got off the car.
"Thanks for the ride 'Mr. Captain of the football team'!" the brunette spat and closed the door with a loud bang. Seifer just sat in
the car, dumbfounded, his eyes fixed on Squall's retreating back.
'...But I'm not even the captain...Oh hell! That didn't go the way I wanted...'
:::::::::::::End of flashback:::::::::::
"Mr. Leonhart? Squall? How outrageous! Are you sleeping?" Mrs. Perkins called. Squall was leaning against his palm, his eyes
closed.
"Dude, wake up!" Zell whispered and leaned closer to shake Squall by his shoulder. The brunette blinked his eyes and realised
the whole class was staring at him.
"Huh? ....What?" Squall saw the expectant look on the teacher's face and realised he was obviously supposed to answer a
question, a question he hadn't even heard, being lost in his own thoughts. Fortunately the brunette was saved from a reprimand
when the bell rang to inform the lesson was over. Everyone got up from their desks and crowded towards the exit. Squall sighed
and collected his books from the desk. As he made his way out, the teacher called after him.
"I do hope this won't happen again. I will not tolerate daydreaming on my class Mr. Leonhart."
Squall just gave her a nod and made his way out of the class room. The hallways were crowded. Everyone was heading towards
the cafeteria. Squall quickly made his way to his locker and placed all his books inside. He was soon joined by Zell.
"I wonder what shit they're serving us today..." the blonde spoke. Squall turned to face him, looking confused. "You know, for
dinner!"
"I seriously doubt it's hod dogs..." Squall mumbled and was suddenly pushed against the locker by the blonde. Zell leaned
closer and whispered something in his ear.
"What?? Zell you're spitting in my ear!" the brunette groaned, his brows drawn together.
"I said *jock alert!*" the blonde boy hissed and leaned against the lockers. "Act cool...maybe they won't even notice us."
The school's 'Kings' were nearing them, surrounded by the 'Queens', meaning cheerleaders, all wearing their cute little uniforms.
Squall immediately fixed his eyes on Seifer, who was walking behind Mike. The mere sight of the tall blonde made Squall's
heart beat faster. He didn't know if it was hate or something else that made his body heat rise.
"Ah, Chicken-wuss and little Mop-hair!" Mike exclaimed as he noticed the two lower grade students, leaning against their
lockers. "What a nice surprise, bumping into you two..."
"Ah....I'm outta here!" Zell informed and scuttled away before the bullies could get him, leaving Squall alone. The brunette
straightened himself and gave the group of bullies a scowl. With one hand, Mike pressed Squall back against the locker and
leaned closer, his face only inches away from the brunette's.
"You know twiggy...you're in serious need of a haircut. But hey, maybe I can fix that!" Mike teased, giving Squall a cruel
smirk. "Snap!" he laughed and used his index and middle finger to 'cut' Squall's hair.
Seifer watched all this from behind Mike's back, looking annoyed. He wanted to interfere, but just couldn't. 'Come on Squall!
Defend yourself!'
Much to Mike's surprise, Squall pushed his hand away and parted his lips to speak. "You know Mike. You're in serious need of
a Tic Tac." He said casually.
"What?! Why you little-" the bully was stopped by a loud laughter. He turned around and fixed his narrowed eyes on Seifer.
"You're actually laughing Almasy??" he snapped. Squall was as surprised as Mike. He met Seifer's amused eyes, raising his
brows in question. Seifer gave Squall a quick smile, but then lay his eyes on Mike's annoyed face.
"Well, the little looser here is right; your breath does stink Mike. I mean big time." The blonde stated, aware of the fact that he
had insulted Squall.
"...Well....screw you guys!" Mike just waved his hand and began to walk towards the cafeteria. Before following, Seifer glanced
in Squall's direction and noted the offended look on the younger boy's face. "Sorry..." he whispered, the apology almost
unnoticeable. He just hoped Squall could hear it.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::.
The bell rang for one last time that day. Squall followed the crowd of students out of the class room and saw Zell, leaning
against the notice-board on the opposite wall.
"There you are! Alive and all..." the blonde exclaimed with a stupid grin on his face. Squall just ignored his friend and walked
towards his locker, Zell following him.
"Hey...buddy....about the earlier...I didn't mean to ditch you like that...I just...remembered something important!" the blonde
stammered and tried to keep up with Squall.
"Yeah Zell, you always do when you see Mike and the others." The brunette noted and kept walking, finally reaching his locker.
"Hey that's not true!...There was that one time I didn't run away...but it was also the time I got locked inside my locker..." the
blonde defended himself. Squall remembered the incident and gave his friend a faint smile. Zell sighed in relieve, realising
Squall wasn't angry with him anymore. The brunette opened his locker and noticed a little white note. He picked it up and
inspected it closer. It was a piece of paper, torn out from a note book, obviously written in a hurry.
'Huh? Where did this come from?....Someone wants to meet me in the gym after school?' Before Zell could ask about the note,
Squall had already torn it in pieces. 'I bet it's Mike and the others! He wants revenge...there's no way in hell I'm going!' He shut
the locker with a loud bang and picked up his school bag. "Come on Zell, let's go or we'll miss the buss."
They walked towards the school entrance. Squall was lost in his thoughts, not paying attention to Zell's babbling.
"Hey earth to Squall! I asked you a question!" the blonde called and looked annoyed as he realised his friend wasn't even aware
of his presence. Squall blinked his eyes and turned his face in Zell's direction.
"Huh? Did you say something?" the brunette asked, finally returning from his thoughts.
"Yeah! I asked if you wanted to come over and study together?" Zell repeated his question, but realised that once again, his
friend's attention was elsewhere.
Squall frowned as he saw Mike with some other jocks, walking through the entrance doors. 'It wasn't Mike who wrote the
note...' The brunette stopped walking and turned to face Zell. "I ....I forgot I have a meeting with the tutor...I'll see you
tomorrow Zell." Before the blonde boy could say a word, Squall had already disappeared into the crowd.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Sq uall stepped inside the gym hall and closed the door. He stood still and glanced around, realising the hall was empty. The
clock on the wall was telling him it was already past 4.00 pm. 'Odd...I thought he'd be here...' Squall thought in his mind. Since
the brunette had seen Mike at the entrance, he had come to a conclusion that it was Seifer who wrote the note. Squall was about
to turn and leave, when he noticed the door of the stockroom was slightly open. For some time he stood still, not sure if he
should investigate or just leave. After thinking it over, the brunette let out a sigh and threw his school bag down on the floor.
'I can't believe you're doing this...' Squall said to himself as he took a hesitant step towards the stockroom. 'With my luck it's not
even Seifer but some brainless bundle of muscles, sent by Mike...' the brunette blinked his eyes as he realised that he didn't
actually think Seifer was one of the muscled idiots.
Squall kept nearing the stockroom, his steps echoing in the spacious gym hall. 'And why would Seifer even wanna meet me
here?...He made it pretty clear earlier that he thinks I'm just a geeky looser...no point in hoping he and I could actually be
friends...even if I'd like that.' The brunette stopped in front of the partly opened door and stood still. It was dark inside the
stockroom. Squall tried to listen but heard nothing. The whole place was silent.
'I'm gonna regret this...I just know it...' Squall could feel his pulse quicken as he opened the door. He tried to see if anyone was
inside but it was too dark. 'Ok, there's no one here...might as well leave.' He reasoned, blinking his eyes nervously. The brunette
turned around and was about to leave, when someone grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him inside the stockroom, closing the
door. Squall let out a surprised cry and tried to reach for the door, but was held in place by someone. The whole room was pitch
dark, preventing the brunette from seeing anything. He could suddenly feel a hand cover his mouth, making it impossible for
him to call help.
Squall tried to struggle, but was held in place tightly from behind his back. The room was filled with the sound of Squall's rapid
breathing as he became paralysed with panic. Who ever was holding him captive in the stockroom wouldn't let go, not until
Squall used his teeth and bit the hand covering his mouth.
"Ahh! Fuck that hurt!" the other person cried and pulled the hand away. Squall took the opportunity to rid himself from the grip
and reached for the door again.
"Squall wait!"
'.......Seifer?' the brunette stopped and turned around as he finally realised it was Seifer who had pulled him inside. Squall
searched for the light switch and the small room was quickly filled with light. The brunette blinked his eyes and saw Seifer
Almasy standing before him, inspecting his hand.
"Nice bite marks you gave me Squall..." the blonde hissed and raised his face. The look on Squall's face was a confused one.
"...Seifer?? W-what the hell!" he finally managed to find words, meeting the blonde's green eyes. "Y-you attacked me! But
why?"
"Hey now, I didn't attack you...I just...had to get you inside." The blonde tried to explain.
"But you almost scared me to death!...I thought you were----no it doesn't matter what I thought. Seifer why am I even here?...It
was you who put the note into my locker, right?" Squall was confused and wanted some answers from the older boy. Seifer just
motioned for him to calm down and sat down on a pile of mattresses.
"Yeah, it was me who wrote the note..." the blonde spoke after a moment of silence. "I just had to see you Squall." He
continued, keeping his eyes fixed on the floor. Squall sat down on the mattresses, next to Seifer.
'He had to see me? ...But why?...It's gotta be about the kiss...he wants to make sure I won't tell anyone!' the brunette waited
patiently for the older boy to continue.
"First of all, I wanna apologise that I called you a looser earlier...but I had to do it." Seifer spoke with a low voice.
Squall narrowed his eyes as the locker-incident returned to his mind. "You *had* to insult me Seifer??"
The blonde raised his face, looking genuinely regretful, this causing Squall's own features to soften a bit.
"Well, you know, Mike and the guys were there so.." Seifer didn't have to finish his sentence for Squall gave him an
understanding nod. "You understand Squall? Good! I was sure you'd-"
"Yeah I understand! You don't want to ruin your precious reputation Seifer!" Squall hissed, sounding hurt.
Seifer just shook his head, but didn't get the chance to explain or defend himself.
"If you want to be Mr. Popular so badly, why do you even bother wasting you time with me??" the brunette raged. He stood up
and turned his back on Seifer. "....You can kiss me, but you can't speak to me in public??...At least not without insulting me...so
why did you even make me come here?"
Seifer sat still. Squall's words made him think. '...Yeah...why did I? This is stupid...I can't have feelings for him...he's a
guy...and I'm...I'm supposed to date some brainless cheerleader...not fall for a geek.'
Squall realised the small storeroom had been silent for some time now. He turned around and saw the serious look on the older
boy's face. "Seifer?"
The blonde blinked his eyes as Squall's voice brought him back from his thoughts. He met the brunette's grey eyes, but said
nothing. '...Maybe...maybe these stupid feelings will go away if I...just take him here and now...'
Squall blinked his eyes and took a step back as Seifer suddenly got up from the mattresses. The look on the blonde's face made
Squall feel nervous. "S-Seifer?...What are you doing?" he asked with a shaky voice as the older boy neared him, his green eyes
twinkling menacingly. Seifer didn't answer him and Squall soon hit the wall of the small stockroom.
"I---I think I have to go..." the brunette stammered, the feeling of insecurity slowly filling his heart.
"No you don't Squall." Without a warning, Seifer grabbed the younger boy's smaller frame with both hands and threw him
down on the pile of mattresses. Squall was too shocked to resist at first. He just lay paralysed as Seifer climbed on top of him
and pressed Squall's lean body against the mattress. When the older boy began to kiss the brunette's neck roughly enough to
hurt, Squall finally blinked his eyes and realised what was happening. He began to wriggle under Seifer's tall frame, his efforts
to get away in vain.
"Don't resist Squall! I know you want this..." Seifer whispered with a hoarse voice.
The brunette could feel hands touch him all over his body and realised his jeans were partly removed. Even if he wanted to
scream, for some reason it was like he was missing his vocal cord. As Seifer kept kissing him, Squall dug his fingernails deep
into the mattress and closed his eyes tightly. 'This is a dream!! This isn't happening!'
Seifer kept kissing Squall's neck and used his other hand to get his belt open. The blonde failed to notice the boy lying under
him was as rigid as a board and shaking almost uncontrollably. Once he got the belt opened, he pulled Squall's jeans all the way
down. 'He'll like this! I know he wants me!' Seifer kept telling himself as he brought his hand down in Squall's groin. The
blonde used his other hand to grip the brunette's silky strands and kissed his cheek.
'Huh?......tears?' Seifer froze as he tasted Squall's salty tears on his lips. '....He's crying?' The blonde blinked his eyes and
quickly pulled his hand away from Squall's lower-regions. 'What the hell am I doing?? Fucking hell Almasy! Can't you see he's
terrified!' Seifer cursed in his mind as he watched the boy lying under him. Squall still had his eyes tightly closed and Seifer
could hear the brunette was whispering something.
'He's....he's singing to himself?' [1] the blonde realised when he recognised the familiar tune of some old lullaby everyone knew.
He got up and leaned against the wall. As Seifer rested his eyes on Squall's miserable form, he felt the urge to vomit.
'I can't believe I almost raped him!!...What the hell is wrong with me?...' When Squall made no effort to get up or even open his
eyes, Seifer took a hesitant step forward.
"Squall?" he called with a weak voice. After saying the brunette's name a few times, Seifer got a response from the younger
boy. Squall blinked his eyes and stopped singing. He looked around, tears rolling down his cheeks and finally met Seifer's
rueful eyes. For some time the brunette just stared blankly.
"Squall I'm sorry...are you alright?" Seifer asked with a shaky voice and took another step in Squall's direction. Slowly the
brunette sat up and finally realised he was half naked. He bounced up from the mattresses and pulled his jeans up.
"S-stay away from me!!" he hissed through clenched teeth, the tone of his voice threatening.
"Squall let me explain, please!" Seifer pleaded as the brunette wiped his teary eyes. "I don't know what went into me! I swear I
didn't plan this...I just..." the blonde stammered, feeling suddenly very small under Squall's accusing glare.
"It's just that I...I like you Squall, I mean really like you, in *that* way...but I know I'm not supposed to...so I thought that
maybe if....Oh hell! There's no excuse for what I did! Can you forgive me?"
Squall just blinked his eyes, not sure if he heard right. 'He has a crush on me?....Seifer Almasy has a crush...on *me*?'
Seifer eyed Squall from under his blonde brows, fearing the younger boy's reaction. "Squall?"
"...I have to go." The brunette spoke and stared Seifer with blank eyes, obviously lost in his own thoughts. Seifer made no effort
to stop Squall and was left alone in the stockroom. He clenched his short golden hair with his hands so hard it hurt.
"Oh fuck! What have I done! He'll never return my feelings..." the blonde cursed and slumped down on the mattresses.
