Chapter IV: Demon Rising
Disclaimer: HI! I'm back again. As always, I don't own Final Fantasy X. I'm still working on finishing the stupid game.
Auron: Ah hem.
You again? I thought I scared you off.
Tidus: I told him not to come, but he wouldn't listen.
What do you want?
Auron: I want to know what the heck you are on.
ON? ON? I'm not ON anything. I'm always like this.
Auron: Right…. Carrying on now… * He walks off again. *
Some days I don't understand men.
* * *
But only when the darkness shows its face
Will he step up and take his rightful place;
A placed destined for the damned
Souls touched by fate's cold hand.

Yuna sat on the beach, watching the waves crash in and out. She was thinking about the previous week's events. 'I wonder what is with the guy. He just seems to pop up at the wrong places at the exact right time. Maybe he's the cause of all of the attacks…. No. He can't be. He's saving our hides but he could be the cause of…No. Don't even think that. He's not a problem. He'll come around eventually.' Yuna continued to watch the waves, continuing to let her mind wander. Unbeknownst to her, a figure watched her from the upper branches of a tree.

He sat in the tree branches, watching the summoner with a quiet apprehension.
'What are you waiting for?'
'I know they're coming; it's better that I be prepared.'
'How do you know they're coming?'
'I just do. Call it a bad feeling.' His eyes darted around thew beach, searching for unseen enemy. He stopped when he saw the brush rustling. Out of the bushes on the edge of the beach slithered a large blue serpent. 'See, I told you they were coming.' He shifted toward the trunk of the tree.
'Now where are you going?'
'Down there. There's more than one coming.' He began climbing down the tree.
'Are you sure you can handle this?'
'With you, definitely.' He landed on the ground with a gentile thump. 'Be ready when I call.'
'Got ya.' The man took off towards the beach where Yuna sat.

Yuna watched as the sea continued to flow on and off of the white sands. 'I wish he would come back.' She whipped her head around when she heard the bushes rustle.
"Who's there?" She got no reply back. She watched intently as the bushes shook and a small, blue serpent slithered out. "Oh, I thought you were something dangerous there for a second." The serpent cocked its head and hissed at her. She giggled at the action. "Don't worry I won't hurt you." A loud, screeching roar cut through the air. She turned to see a very large behemoth standing behind her. Other fiends were piling up on the beach behind it. "But that most certainly will hurt me…" She scrambled to her feet and took a quick look around. The beach that she had been sitting on was rapidly filling with fiends. "This isn't good…" She became trapped very rapidly. "Oh god. I am in soo much trouble." She shifted nervously; there was no way she was getting out of this one alive with out any help. She sighed; there was no one coming for her. From the back of the pack of fiends came a hollowing screech. She spun around, but couldn't find the source of the noise; she couldn't find it. She watched the fiends draw ever nearer and heard it again, but this time it was much closer. She spun around and came face to face with the mystery man who had been floating around the island the last couple of weeks. He gripped Tidus's sword in his right hand, blood leaking from its tip. He said nothing, but that was enough for Yuna. She spied the open
path behind him and knew exactly what he wanted her to do.
"Are you sure you can handle them all?" He nodded and Yuna ran off apprehensively. When she reached higher ground, she turned back to keep an eye on he blonde savior.

He shifted, staring at the hundreds of fiends standing around him. 'Now where do I start.' He continued to scan the fiends that were growing ever closer to him. 'Ok, now I'm getting too far in over my head.' The fiends were starting to snap at his ankles. 'I hate to do this, but I need his help.' The man hefted the blade skyward. In the middle of the blade appeared a black outline of a dragon. He shifted it to the left, drawing the blade into one thin line. He flipped the butt over in his hands, pointing the blade downward. In one clear swoop, he slammed the blade into the unyielding earth. When the tip of the blade embedded itself into the sand, a black pool formed around his feet. The mist floated upward like a swarm of pireflies. The blackness faded out about ten feet above the crouched man's head and a black gorge shattered the blue sky above his head. Out of the gorge floated a black dragon. The beast landed, his mottled wings folding neatly along his back. The beast reared up and let out a bellowing trumpet, bearing its white fangs. It turned it s head to scan the area. It hissed at the surrounding fiends and the slowly backed away from the aeon. The aeon kept turning his head to keep an idea of how close the fiends were. The beast swung his mighty tail and the fiends jumped back. The dragon hissed, protecting his summoner.
'Are you going to attack or are you going to stand there the whole day?'
'I'm TRYING to figure out the best plan of attack for this situation.'
'Ah. Come up with anything?'
'Not yet.'
'Why don't you just slaughter them all like you always do.'
'That does sound like a good idea…'
'You're welcome.' The dragon hiss at a set of fiends that were growling closer to him. He swung his mighty tail behind him and loped the fiends in half, leaving a bloody spray behind. The blood rivulets splashed everywhere, tainting the sand where the fiends once stood. The dragon hissed again and dove towards the fiends standing in front of him. The fiends scrambled to get out of the way, running into other fiend in the process, but not being able to escape the giant talons of the dragon. The black beast slashed at the fiends again, shredding the soft flesh in one clean swoop. The fiends crashed to the ground with a sickening thud and a spray of blood. The blood splatter hit the summoner in the side of his face, but he gave no heed to the sickening spray. The serpentine beast continued to slaughter the fiends in this fashion until the only one left standing was the monstrous behemoth. The two beasts hissed at each other, waiting for the other to make a move. The dragon took the initiative and sung his mighty tail. The behemoth tired to dodge it, but it was too slow. The scythe like tail beheaded the beast in one clean swoop. The beat's head hit the ground with a thud, the body following in short suit. The dragon turned back to his summoner and the man waved him off. The dragon nodded, knowing what was coming next, and flew off, disappearing into thin air. The summoner stood, unmoving, watching the blood flow in and out past his ankles with the oceans tides. He sighed, hefting his sword up to his shoulder. He uttered a few silent words and hefted the blade skywards. The sun caught on the blade, casting a gentle sheen across the blood and fallen fiends. He sung the blade out in front of him, making it parallel to the ground. A few pyreflies floated up from the mess and danced around the blade. He spun in a circle, returning to his original position, gathering more pyreflies in the process. He slammed the blade into the ground, sending the pyreflies and blood flying away from him, leaving a patch of clean sand in front of him. He raised the blade once again and swung it over his head, spinning around in a circle. When he stopped again, the area was clear; there was no evidence that a battle had ever taken place there. He shifted the blade on his shoulder and began to walk away, leaving bloody footprints in his wake. Yuna dashed from her hiding spot, trying to catch up with the man.
"Wait!" The blonde stopped and turned to look at her. She ground to a halt, unwilling to move any closer to him. "I just wanted to know who you are. You've been here for long enough and no one really knows you, so I thought it was about time that some one tried to get to know you." The man snorted at her actions, turned around, and began to walk away again. Yuna stood appalled as the man slowly disappeared from her sight. She wanted to chase after him, but something stopped her. A small piece of paper floated in front of her face and she snagged it before it reached the ground. She opened it and reveled in what was written.
All will be known in good time, my lady summoner. The harder you press, the more resistance I will meet you with.

Well, wasn't that fun?
Jecht: I'd say so, but Tidus is looking a little whiter than usual…
Not a fan of the gore, eh?
Jecht: I guess not.
He'll have to get used to it though, there's more where that came from.
Jecht: Fun…
