Confessions and Realizations

----------------------------------------------

“Vincent?”

“Yes, Lucrecia?”

“Could you please go get Dietrich, I'd like to speak with her”.

“Sure…”, he nods, raising from his seat and heads for the door, “I'll be right back”.

He walks down the hall and knocks on the door four rooms down.

“Dietrich? You in here?”, he questions.

He is greeted by silence.

“Dietrich?”, he asks, as he opens the door.

The room seemed empty, Dietrich's uniform laid neatly set down on her bed.

Suddenly, the door to the connected bathroom opens, and the red-head walks out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel.

Lilac eyes met red ones as she stared at him in shock and Vincent stood there speechless with his mouth hung open.

Dietrich suddenly lets out a blood-curdling scream, as her face turns a shade of crimson darker than her hair.

Vincent could only quickly turn around and shut the door, his face almost as red as his eyes.

“I-I-I'm s-s-s-sorry…”, he stutters, his embarrassment audible in his voice.

“What the hell are you doing in my room?”, she screams, through the door.

“Lucrecia asked me to get you, she requested to speak with you”, he replies, embarrassment still evident in his voice, “If it means anything, I did knock before entering…”.

No answer.

“Dietrich?”

“I'll be there in five minutes!”, she snaps.

He could hear a blow-dryer turn on.

`I can't believe he just saw my in that state of undressed!', Dietrich growls in her head as she runs a comb through her hair as she dries it with the blow-dryer, `He looked pretty embarrassed though…', she thinks, lightly chuckling to herself at the thought of how red his face had turned.

She slips her uniform back on and opens the door to her room to find Vincent standing there; waiting for her, with a light blush still visible on his cheeks.

“You're still blushing…”, she teases, as she walks past him.

This only causes his blush to darken, as he avoids eye contact with her.

“Lets go…”, he says, leading the way, `I can't believe I saw her like… like that…!', he groans in his head.

Dietrich follows without a word, knowing she had some ammo on her superior officer.

`She probably won't let me live this down…', he sighs.

`I won't let him live this down', she thinks, smirking.

“Oh my, Vincent why is your face so red?”, Lucrecia asks, as the two Turks enter.

“Um…”

“He got warm from the steam of the shower I had taken before he came to get me”, Dietrich lies, covering the true facts of the encounter.

“So that is what happened, I could have sworn he was blushing”, the scientist says.

“You wished to speak with me?”

“Yes, I do. Vincent could you please go wait outside, I wish to speak with Dietrich in private”, she requests.

“Of course, Lucrecia”.

Vincent leaves, closing the door behind himself.

“What is it you wish to speak to me about?”

“I apologize for blowing up on you earlier, when you had asked me about what had happened between me and Vincent”.

“You're forgiven, it wasn't my place to pry into your business, yet I was trying to…”.

“I want to tell you the reason why”.

“Huh?”

“It was years before I had met Vincent, I worked along side Vincent's father; Grimoire, but during one of my experiments, there was an explosion and Dr. Valentine at the last minute had pushed me out of the path of the blast, and he was killed. It was all my fault…”, she explains, tears brimming in her eyes.

“Does Vincent know?”

“Yes… he does…”.

“What was his reaction?”

“He told me, that he doesn't hold me response for his father's death, and that it had been an accident, that it wasn't my fault…”, she sobs.

“And yet, even though Vincent didn't resent you, you still went to Hojo…”, Dietrich adds, figuring out the rest of the story, “That must have been one hell of a guilt-trip you were having”.

“Yeah… thanks, I needed to have a girl-to-girl talk…”.

Two Days Later…

“Dietrich, could you pass me the beaker of Ethylene Glycol, please?”, Lucrecia asks.

“Sure…”, she says, putting on rubber-gloves, filter-mask, and face-shield before she went over to the fume-hood where it was stored, “Hydrochloric acid, Phosphoric acid… Ah! Here it is! Ethylene Glycol”, she mutters to herself, carefully removing the beaker from the fume-hood, “Here you go, Lucrecia”.

“Thank you, your degree in biotechnology is coming in handy. I really needed the help”.

“Doesn't Hojo help you?”

“No, he's too busy ordering people around and having his god-complex”.

“He's sounding more and more like an asshole every day…”, Dietrich comments.

“Is that what you think of him?”

“I've been thinking that since the day I met him!”

“What do you think of Vincent?”

“He's my superior officer, what is there to say about him?”

“He's been acting like a lost love-sick little puppy ever since he proposed to me and I turned him down”, Lucrecia says.

“He proposed to you?”

She nods, “But I ran away, and when he had gone for a walk, he found me embracing Hojo by the front-gate…”, she replies, “He looked so devastated when he saw us…”.

`Poor Vincent… I had no idea that had happened to him… Yet, he still loves Lucrecia', Dietrich thinks.

“Uh…”, Lucrecia groans, clutching her abdomen.

“Lucrecia, what's wrong?”, the Turk asks, going to her side.

“It's nothing, I'm probably stressing myself by working too hard…”.

`Vincent might be right about the experiment, it's too hazardous for Lucrecia…', she thinks, as she watches Lucrecia throw-up in a trash-can, `Because this isn't morning-sickness, that stops when the mother reaches three-months into her pregnancy'.

“Lucrecia, it might not be my place to ask this…”.

“What is it?”

“Are you sure the experiment on your unborn baby is safe? For you and your child?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“Morning-sickness stops when a woman reaches the three-month marker of her pregnancy, this is not morning-sickness your having”, she explains.

“It's not morning-sickness…?”, Lucrecia mutters.

“Did Hojo tell you other-wise?”

“Yes…”.

“You're a bio-technician, and you don't know anything about pregnancies?”

“Yes…”, she sheepishly replies.

Dietrich sighs, “Since I know you'll go on with the experiment, regardless what Vincent or I say, let's just focus on keeping you healthy and tone down your work a little bit so you're not stressing yourself so much, until the baby is born”, she says, remembering how stubborn Lucrecia was when Vincent had tried talking her into stopping the experiment.

“I guess you're right, let's take it easy on my work”, Lucrecia sighs, slightly smiling.

“That's the spirit!”, she states, `Vincent might hate me for not trying to talk Lucrecia out of doing the experiment, but at least I'm trying to protect her health'.

But Ritalin stayed up to 1:30am watching it, and she had a freaky-ass dream last night!

Come to think of it, she still hasn't finished telling me what happened in it…
