Squall lead Zell into the restaurant.

Squall's - Griever's - bodyguards stayed outside, giving Squall privacy.

The host immediately approached Squall, jumping to tell the Super Star that the President of Esthar was waiting in a private room in the back. Then the host lead Squall and Zell to the room, where Laguna was waiting - his own bodyguards standing around.

"Griever!" Laguna greeted Squall, choosing to use the Stage name. Squall's real name wasn't something the Star wanted advertised, after all.

"President," Squall replied softly, walking towards his father.

Laguna stood up and pulled Squall into a tight embrace, then stepped back with a bright smile on his face.

"You've grown!" Laguna said brightly, looking his son over.

Squall sighed quietly, looking to the floor.

Laguna then saw Zell. His eyes went wide. "How old are you?!"

"Eh, 15?" Zell replied, unsure of what his answer should be.

Laguna smirked, looking to his son's face. "Riding the younger ones, Squallie?"

Squall looked up to his father's sea-green eyes. His cheeks turned a light shade of red, but Squall blinked the embarrassment away, moving past his father to take a seat in the booth.

Laguna laughed quietly, taking a seat across from Squall. Zell sat next to Squall on the hard cushion of the booth.

"You do love blondes, don'tcha boy?" Laguna said softly to Squall, looking at Zell.

Squall stole a quick glance at Zell before turning back to look down at the table. "President..."

A waiter walked over to the table, giving the three males menus. He frowned down at Zell for a brief moment before Laguna spoke.

"Something wrong, Harold?" Laguna asked.

The waiter looked at the President of Esthar. "No, sir! ... Just... thought you ... were going to ... that this was a date between you and Griever... sir."

Laguna smirked. "Griever is a bit young for me, don'tcha think, Harold?"

"I just thought... before... those were dates..." Harold stuttered, his cheeks flushing. He really wished he hadn't said anything.

Laguna laughed quietly, looking down to the menu. "Harold, those were just dinners and I'm just a fan."

Harold nodded. "Sorry, sir. ... A-anything to drink...?" he asked.

"I ordered a bottle of Manzanilla," Laguna replied, looking up.

"Oh yes!!" Harold said. "I'll go get it, sir." the waiter looked at Zell, then back to Laguna. "He'll be...?"

Laguna turned his attention to look over Zell before answering Harold's question. "Don't see why not."

The waiter nodded, then turned to hurry away.

Laguna looked to Squall. "I thought we could have a few drinks before we eat...?"

Squall just nodded, keeping his eyes locked on the menu in his hands.

"Um..." Zell said, looking from Squall to Laguna the back. He leaned to Squall whispering. "I don't know what any of this stuff is..."

Laguna laughed. "We should have just gone to Geezard-Burger, ne? This is really to formal of a place."

"What do you like to eat?" Squall asked Zell softly.

Zell's eyes sparkled as his bit his lower lip. "... Hot dogs."

Laguna laughed. "Definitely too formal of a restaurant."

Zell looked back down to the menu.

"Its okay... Zell, right? ... Yeah, I like hot dogs too! ... Maybe we should just order a whole bunch... Sounds pretty good actually!" Laguna looked over the menu. "Yeah! Why not?! ... Do you think they have hot dogs here? ... Well I am President. They could just make some special or something."

Zell smiled at Laguna, who was being completely serious as he scanned over the menu.

"Well! Hot dogs it is, then!" Laguna said, closing the menu and placing it at the edge of the table.

Zell carefully put his menu on Laguna's, trying to old back a laugh.

Laguna cleared his throat, looking at his son.

Squall felt his father's sea-green eyes watching him, so he looked up. "...What?"

"Why do you even bother looking at the menu?" Laguna asked.

Squall sighed, closing the menu and placing it over with the others. "Whatever..."

Laguna turned to meet Zell's sapphire eyes. "He always orders the same thing. Every time we come here. Large salad. Cheese, bacon, and crouton toppings. Then Blue Cheese dressing on the side."

"Its good here," Squall replies softly.

Harold came back with the wine and poured a small amount into Laguna's glass.

Laguna sighed, picking the glass up and tasting it. He nodded at Harold, who then continued to serve the wine.

"Harold, Griever will have the salad... you know how he likes it. Then Zell and I want hot dogs," Laguna replied.

Harold blinked, holding the wine bottle. "Sir... we don't have hot dogs."

Laguna shrugged. "We have time. Or do you not give special orders to Presidents and Super Stars?"

"Sir!" Harold said quickly. "I'll... run down to the super-market myself, right now!"

Laguna smiled. "Good, thanks."

Harold left the wine at the table before hurrying away.

"...President," Squall said softly, eyes his father.

Laguna smirked. "He's getting it."

Zell laughed softly, trying to hold in his giggles.

"...How's sis?" Squall asked, taking a small drink of the Sherry.

Laguna nodded. "She's good. Working on her beauty school things. She's confusing most of the time. More then you, Griever. With her - I don't have a clue. And I don't want one, either."

Zell covered his mouth to muffle his giggling.

Squall sighed. "How's Kiros?" he said, changing the subject. He didn't really like his sister that much. She'd been a large prep in school, slightly an airhead, really. Wonder where she got that trait. Laguna?

"He's good. Works hard. Keeps me in line. Makes sure I know exactly what's going on," Laguna replied. "You should come by the Palace. Kiros hasn't seen you in nearly two years! He was hoping you'd come by. You should spend more time with me, since you're here! Yes!

"Maybe I'll go to your concert Saturday... wait, no I can't. I already asked Kiros that. Don't have time... that's too bad. I want to spend more time with you, boy! ... You need to come by more often! You really have grown. Look slightly different then last I saw you, too."

"Whatever," Squall replied.

Laguna turned his attention to the tattooed blonde. "...You're quiet cute, you realize that? Can't believe my son is sleeping with someone so young-"

"Daddy!" Squall snapped.

"-but who am I to stop him? Since your his second boyfriend. I think he did a good job picking someone out this time. Seifer was always so controlling. ... Some of the rumors spread around about you two," Laguna said to Squall, shaking his head. "Blowing your boyfriend on stage in the middle of a concert!"

Squall's eyes widened slightly as he bit the sides of his tongue.

"I guess it was good to have a boyfriend like Seifer, though. Since he did force you to be a little more normal. Moping about when you were younger was really a drag on my peppiness. ... And sex was obviously a good thing for you! Because the time I caught you-"

"Dad!" Squall said loudly.

Laguna blinked, his expression neutral. "Not a good subject in front of Zell?"

Squall looked at Zell, who had a huge grin on his face. "No, its a'kay!" Zell said. "Keep goin'. This is interesting."

:Laguna laughed. "It was quiet a sight... But at least Squall was having fun! That's what really counts..."

Squall put his hand over his eyes.

Zell was laughing hard.

"Why are you so immature?" Squall asked his father softly.

Laguna smirked, then his eyes went wide and his smile brightened. "Speaking of immature! I've got something for you. Ward!" Laguna called one of his bodyguards.

A large man shifted his stance, looking at Laguna.

"Get Griever's birthday present," Laguna said.

The large man left the room.

"Present?" Squall asked, not really wanting to know what his father got him.

Laguna smiled a proud grin. "Yep! I was thinking about getting you a real-live Lion, but then I realized you travel too much, don't have time to take care of it."

Ward entered back into the room dragging a large, huge, gigantic stuffed animal. A stuffed toy lion animal.

"Ah!" Zell squeaked brightly. "That's awesome!"

Squall put his fingers to his temple, closing his cloudy eyes.

Laguna smiled proudly at Zell. "I liked it too!" He turned to his son. "Whatcha think?!"

Squall sighed, opening his eyes to look at the giant stuffed toy. "Thank you, daddy..."

Laguna smirked, but held back a retort. "I have something more to your liking in my pocket," he said in a normal voice. Reaching into his pants pocket he pulled out a black-velvet case, handing it over to Squall.

Squall accepted the box, opening it. Laying on a soft black-velvet cushion was a silver tear-drop shaped locked on a small, delicate chain. "This was mom's..." Squall said softly, tracing a finger over the cold locket.

"It has a picture of her holding you as a baby," Laguna replied in an oddly serious voice.

Squall looked up from the locket to meet his father's sea-green eyes. "Thank you."

Laguna nodded, smiling softly.

~ *--time passes--* ~

Guards left the private room after Squall received his presents so the three guys could talk privately.

"He's adorable," Laguna said to Squall after Zell left the table to find the bathroom.

Squall took a moment to watch his father's face before speaking. "I really like him."

Laguna blinked. "Like him?"

Squall breathed then licked his dry lips. "Yes."

"You... okay?" Laguna asked, moving in the booth to sit closer to his son.

Squall stayed silent, looking at the table with glazed over eyes.

Laguna put his hand on Squall's shoulder. "You haven't expressed emotion since... well... You know. So ... are you alright?"

Squall swallowed, his eyes locked with his father's. "Scared. I've been indifferent for such a long time. I... I've only known him for 3 weeks."

Laguna put his hand on Squall's chin. "You even smiled today."

Breathing, Squall closed his eyes.

Laguna took his hand back. "You like-"

"Heya," Zell said as he returned to the table.

Zell took his seat next to Squall as the brunette Super Star looked him over.

Zell looked at the father and son. "Eh? I interrupt sometin?"

"No," Laguna replied with a smile. "We were just talking about you."

"Uh... r- ... why?" Zell asked.

Laguna moved back over in the booth to his side, across from Squall and Zell. "I'm just interested in my son's love life, that's all."

Zell nodded. "Ohhh."

"And-" Laguna started, but was interrupted by a beeping sound. He sat back in the chair, moving to pull his portable phone from his belt. He pressed a button and the phone opened up. A small paper-thin view screen flipped open, the digital box below the screen reading "Palace". The view screen turned on, Kiros looking up at the President.

"Sorry to disturb your dinner, Laguna," Kiros said, his voice sounded as though he were actually standing there. "But the Board wants to have meeting right now about Trabia. Wouldn't have bothered contacting you, except I know you were really interested in his deal."

Laguna's shoulder's slumped. He looked up to his son, sighing. "Guess I should be leaving then."

Squall nodded.

Laguna flipped off the phone, snapping it back to his belt.

Squall motioned for Zell to stand up, which the blonde did in a bounce. Squall followed him.

Laguna moved from the booth seat. "Stay and finish your lunch," he said.

"We will," Squall replied.

Laguna smiled softly. "It was good seeing you again, Squall."

Squall smiled meekly. "You too, dad."

They embraced, holding each other tightly. Pulling back, Squall turned his head and pressed his lips to his father's.

The kiss, although closed lipped, lingered longer then it really should have before Squall released his father.

Laguna patted his son's cheek, smiling. "Love you. See you soon, ne?!"

"Hopefully," Squall replied softly.

Laguna looked down to Zell. "Wonderful meeting you, Zell. Maybe I'll see you again, too?"

Zell smiled at the President. "Yeah. It was fun meeting Squall's dad."

"Sayonara," Laguna said brightly, then turned and walked out of the private room.

Squall sighed, watching his father leave. Then he saw the giant stuffed-toy-lion sitting with its head titled to the side, looking up at him with blank black eyes.

"So..." Zell said.

Squall looked down to his young, blonde lover. "...so?"

Zell watched Squall a moment before saying "Never mind."

Squall nodded, taking Zell's hand, pulling the blonde back to the booth where they finished their lunch.
