Chapter 6: Only in the dark…

The Luca Goers had won the match 6 nothing. The boys were stuffed and happy, that there 2nd favourite team had one. Yet there was still no sign of Manda. “Where do you think she went?” Livy asked sounding slightly worried. “Who cares.” Chris grumbled, his gut still sore. Melissa flashed him a hard yet cold look. “I care, that girl is the closest thing I have to family, and I sure as hell will kill anything that hurts her or prevents her from her pilgrimage do you understand me? If you don’t like it than leave, she asked you to come with us as one of her guardians, so treat her as a summoner, not like some 10 cent hoe you picked up!” She yelled, all was silent.

She felt the hot tears pricking at her eyes slightly, she held them back before storming off, racing right out of the stadium. She found herself in abandoned alleyway where she sat and cried. She cried about everything, about feelings she couldn’t explain, about her parents, simply about Life.

“Mel…?” Chris called softly, she wiped away the tears hopping it hadn’t smeared her make up. “What?” She called, trying to make her voice seem as icy as possible. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean it to come out like that, its just I guess I was still mad about her hitting me and all.” He said quietly, sitting down beside her. She didn’t say anything, “It’s not your fault…but it just she’s the only thing I have left…I lost my parents, my sisters, even my own lover…and I just can’t loose her too.” She said quietly, he felt himself going numb, she had a lover before him. “Your lover? How did he die?” He asked. She looked at him, he looked back at her but neither said nothing, she opened her mouth to say something, but the words would not come out, until finally she croaked. “Sin.” He felt horrible at that moment. “Sin took everything away from me…but that’s Spira’s punishment for using machina, to fight wars and stuff, I guess.” she said.

“Mel?” He called lightly. She looked at him again. “Yes?” He took her chin. “Let me mend you than?” He asked softly leaning it slightly, till it was forehead to forehead. She said nothing, he didn’t wait for her answer, he moved in cautiously, hoping not to find rejection. She met him half way, lips meeting lips, for the first time, a new love blossoming right before there eyes, the softness of her lips, He placed a hand on her cheek and pulled away softly, caressing her cheek with his thumb. She smiled at him slightly. “We should get back.” He said softly. She nodded in agreeance. “Chris.” she said before he stood up. “Yeah?” He asked, “Lets not let the others know this…you and I… are only in the dark…for now, just until things cool down a little, we’re still to early into the pilgrimage to allow romance to get in the way, alright?” She said, he felt slightly upset about this, but she was willing to give him a try, and that was all he needed to look foreword too. “Only in the dark,” He said nodding his head.
