Chapter 7: Caught up in the moment…
Chris and Melissa walked back to the stadium, neither saying anything, Marjan, Livy and Steph sat on the steps. Livy looked up at Mel slyly, “You look a little flushed Meliss.” she giggled. They watched as Chris coughed nervously, and Melissa turned a deep cherry red. The group looked at each other before they burst out laughing. “We couldn’t find Manda anywhere…We’ll look more tomorrow morning, but its to cold and dark to keep looking, we’ll check in at the inn, if were lucky she’s already there.” Marjan said coolly, his face look steady, not a sign of worry.
The others agreed, and headed for the smallest and cheapest inn in Luca. Only to find there were only 3 rooms available. “I’m so sorry Sir, there are only 3 available, its not normally so busy, but its blitz ball season…will you take the rooms or?” The short woman at the front desk asked. Chris opened his mouth to speak but Melissa cut him off. “It’s fine we’ll take it,” She said, they looked at her. “Look we have to be mature about this whole situation.” she said. “Steph will get a room on her own just in case Manda comes back, and me and Livy will get a room together and you and Marjan can sleep together.” “WHAT?!?!” They yelled together. “Oh never mind, god forbid you touch.” Livy said while rolling her eyes. “I’ll sleep with Marjan, you sleep with Chris.” She said, Mel nodded.
They walked down the long narrow hallway. “315...this is it” Marjan muttered, before unlocking the door. Livy looked around, her hands behind her back, she looked around her surroundings noticing the bed in one corner and the bookshelf in another the bathroom on her right in a separate room, the couch against the wall. Livy sat on the corner of the bed, biting her lip nervously. “So…”She said softly. “Yeah uhmmm…” Marjan said while clearing his throat and walking over to the bookshelf and pulling out a random book.
He flopped lazily on the couch, before opening the book to a random page. Livy stood up and walked over to him, looking at the book. She sat beside him as she read over his shoulder slightly, he moved the book so she had a better view of it. “Luca…its got quite the history doesn’t it?” Marjan said gazing deeply into her eyes, it was impossible not to know she was an Al Bhed, she acted exactly like one, lean and tough, but there was something about Livy that was different, she was soft, and playful.
After a few minutes of jokes and laughter, the two stopped, and just starred at each other long and hard, Livy was the first to clear her throat and stand up. “Well I’m beat.” She said, muffling a fake yawn. “Livy…wait.” Marjan called softly pulling her back by the wrist. Livy crashed onto the couch, and looked at him curelessly. “What is it?” She asked, blinking curiously, almost waiting for answers immediately.
Those answers she was not given, instead it was replaced with a soft and brief kiss. He pulled back almost immediately. “I’m sorry…that was uncalled for…” He said nervously, standing up shovelling from side to side, knowing she obviously thought differently of him now. “Marjan!” She almost said in a high pitched voice, standing up, his temptation took over him pulling her in as swiftly as he could and planting a soft but deep kiss. She did not object and followed. Thoughts ran threw there head, until Livy finally withdrew. “I can’t…I’m sorry…its not that I don’t like you…but we can’t be this way yet, I barely know you…and…well…I don’t want to get to serious, I became a guardian because I knew what my fayth was, when this whole pilgrimage is over, we may not be alive, so lets not get to caught up in the moment…alright?” She said softly.
Marjan looked at her, licking his lips slightly, tasting the remains of her lip gloss. He scratched his head nervously before shrugging. “Whatever.” He muttered, Livy stood there for a while just looking at him, he threw a pillow on the couch and laid down facing the couch so she couldn’t see his face, he listened to her shuffle around and than the light turned off, his fist clenched and unclenched tightly. He knew he had feelings for her, but she was right it was still to early, he was caught up in the moment.
