A/N: WARNING! This story is a slash fic between Quistis and Selphie. First off I don't want any flames from anti-slash readers or homophobes. If you don't like it don't read it okay? Oh and this is my second time writing slash so if someone could give me some pointers it would be nice. This fic is going to be a regular fic taking place 1-2 years after the original game. This first chapter contains references to rape and abuse so if you can't stand reading that sort of thing skip over some parts in the story. Enjoy!

Pain. Pain tortured Quistis from every angle. Not only did she feel emotional pain…that was normal for her. No…now she felt a physical tearing of her body as well.
She whimpered as she lay on her side on the hard concrete. Seifer…why did you hurt me? Recently she had been dating Seifer Almasy. When they had first started going out he was really kind to her. Then…out of the blue he began to drink again.
It was difficult for her to conclude on why Seifer began to drink heavily once again. It could have been their caretaker Matron, who had recently died of cancer. It could have been all the pressure that was placed upon him when he came back to garden. It could have been many things.
Quistis had told Seifer time and time again to stop drinking. He never seemed to listen to her though. Alcohol apparently drowned out all his pain and sorrow. It was his last escape. And Quistis hated him for that.
Once he started drinking Seifer Almasy became a different man. And all that depended on the situation and the mood he was in. If he were happy, the alcohol would cause him to become a `happy drunk'. If he were in a shitty mood, the alcohol would make him a monstrous individual.
He started hitting her for no reason at all. Quistis would try to fight back but it was no use. He was just too big.
She even went to the headmaster in order to get the beatings to stop. She was successful and managed to have a restraining order placed upon him. Maybe then she would be safe.
However, it didn't stop him from raping her. All he would have to do is get her all alone and she would be screwed. And that's exactly what he did.
On her way back to garden she knew she was being followed. She just didn't know whom at that moment. Her bodyguards weren't there to protect her because she thought she would have been safe in Balamb. How was she to know that her ex was stalking her?
When she started to hear footsteps coming from behind her…that was when she got worried. Seifer are you following me?
She turned to find nothing behind her at all. She was confused. Was he hiding in wait for her? What was going on?
When she continued to make her way along the road to Balamb she heard the footsteps again. This time she became angry. She was tired of being screwed with. “Seifer stop screwing around,” she turned around and yelled. “This isn't funny anymore you hear?” No one answered her. This was beginning to get downright frightening.
Suddenly when she moved to step forward, a hand clamped over her mouth. Quistis could have sworn her heart skipped a beat. Even though terrified, she still fought back to the best of her ability. It still wasn't enough though. This man was too strong. Too strong even for her.
What happened next Quistis tried hard to forget. He beat her…giving her a black eye and a bruised abdomen. The only thing that was going through her mind was please stop.
That wasn't the worst part either. Seifer then proceeded to brutally rape her. Quistis just had given up at that point. As he ripped her open with his thrusts she could feel blood trickle down her bare thighs. She didn't even fight back because she knew it was hopeless. At that point she became a rag doll.
Finally, after what seemed hours of torture…he left her on her own. Quistis whimpered as she attempted to move. Was he leaving her to die? No not now…I don't want to die now.
She reached out her hand and called to somebody, anybody. But no one was there. She was all alone once again.
A petite teenager attempted to pull her crazy hair back. She giggled when she saw that it was perfect. At least it was as close as it ever was going to be with her.
Her name was Selphie Tilmitt and she was a SeeD at Balamb Garden. She'd been training for quite some time and two years ago she'd finally passed the field exam. She smiled to herself. That was the best day of my life.
Most would consider Selphie to be a bubbly hyperactive teenager. And she was. Every now and then she was told to cut down on the caffeine as it made her even more hyper.
Her jade green eyes glittered in delight when she found that her ponytail was almost perfect. She gave it one last little tug and she was done.
She admired her work in the mirror. Booyaka! I finally did it! It took me forever to get this right! Selphie's hair wasn't what one would call tamable. Especially when she first got up in the morning. It stuck out every which way and became impossible to brush. That's when Selphie realized what mousse was for.
Selphie loved to have a good time. And that's exactly what she was going to do that night. Dance her little heart out.
Ever since she had broken up with Irvine Selphie was never the same. She felt like the most important thing in her life was gone…never to return.
It would be safe to say that Irvine was Selphie's first love. How could she deny it? When they had first met she couldn't get her heart to stop hammering. She was actually nervous around that guy.
She remembered the first tender kiss they had shared. It was the best feeling she had ever had in her life. She felt like she was standing on a cloud.
And the conversations they had shared. What an even better memory. The couple would talk about anything and everything. From dogs and cats, to sex and novels. Selphie giggled at the thought of Irvine talking to her about novels. Sure he was a smart guy and all, but not really the `reading' type.
Selphie of course was. She had over thirty books in her dorm. She couldn't get enough of reading! She remembered how Irvine would constantly call her a bookworm for wanting to get into a good book rather than go out to eat. She cheerfully smiled at herself in the freshly cleaned mirror. Irvy you were such a sweetheart.
And he was.
On Valentine's Day he would always give her a large bouquet of flowers to show how much he cared for her. Which of course must have been a lot considering that he also gave her chocolates as well.
She would never forget the last Valentine's Day when he had given her an actual book. She was so excited when she found out it was one of those mystery novels she loved so much. As soon as she tore the gift-wrapping from her present, she gave the love of her life a kiss right on the lips. She was that happy.
Of course all good things would have to come to an end eventually. And they did for Selphie Tilmitt.
She remembered exactly what he had told her when he was breaking up with her. He told her that he wanted a change in the dating scene. Basically that he wanted to see other people. Irvy why?
Selphie took especially hard because she was the one who actually loved him. She was dreaming of a future with him one day. She even knew what their kids were going to look like! And he wanted to see other people? Selphie just couldn't understand.
What had she done wrong? Was she not good enough for him? Did she not satisfy his needs? She thought he loved her. Was their relationship all a lie?
Selphie felt herself becoming depressed again. Nothing is going to get me down now. I'm going to have a super duper time. I can get over Irvy I just know I can…because I believe in myself.
She knew that there was always a little pattern in life. There were ups and there were downs. Even though she was suffering through a down at the moment didn't mean she was going to forever. Things would change and she'd be truly happy again.
She ran her fingers through her hair. She guessed that's why people liked her. She was different from the average depressed teenager. Where she had hope they thought they were doomed. Where she smiled they constantly wore a frown. She was a special girl if one could say that.
She looked at her digital watch. And she was going to be late for the time of her life!
Selphie quickly threw on her short red dress and ran out the door in a crazy fashion. On her way down the hall she managed to run into Zell. And when she ran into him she literally ran into him.
“Geez Selph,” he whined. “Watch where ya going next time.” Selphie scolded herself for knocking poor Zell over. What a bummer…I caused him to drop all of his books.
“Oh Zelly I'm really sorry,” she apologized. “I was just in such a hurry that I didn't notice you in the hallway and bumped into you.” Zell laughed at Selphie's almost hyperventilation episode.
“Oh it's fine Selph,” he tried and failed to calm her down. “Let me guess…you're going out dancing.” Selphie did a little dance of joy when Zell mentioned that word…that very fun word.
“Yep,” she nodded excitedly. “And I'm going have a SUPER DUPER fabulous time!” She then started to help him gather all his books. When they were all in his strong arms she waved to him and ran off in a Selphie fashion.
“Hey Selph wait!” he called out to her. She turned and noticed a worried look was plastered all over his face. She quickly returned the way she came.
“What's up?” she asked with concern. Zell shrugged.
“It's Quisty,” he explained. “She hasn't got back yet. I'm worried about her. You know how she got a restraining order on Seifer right? Well I'm worried that he might try to hurt her because he's so pissed off because of it. And what's worse is that she doesn't have any body guards with her.” Selphie gasped. He was right. Anything could have happened to Quistis and they wouldn't even know!
“Oh my god,” she gasped. “You're right Zelly! I hope Quisty's okay.” He nodded in agreement with her.
“You know what,” she announced. “I'm not going dancing tonight. I'm too worried about Quistis. Maybe we should ask Head master Cid?” Zell nodded and they both ran as fast as they could muster to the third floor.
Quistis felt her life force slowly fade away. She was going to die in the middle of nowhere. Nobody even heard her cries for help. What hope did she have to survive?
I should have brought a bodyguard with me. I was foolish to think that I could fend off Seifer all by myself. She even forgot to bring her weapon with her. She was a moron.
She tried to crawl back into town. She had to find someone who would help her.
As she desperately made her way to freedom her internal clock ticked away. She was running out of time.
And time was something that she couldn't afford to lose.
“HEADMASTER CID!” Selphie and Zell both yelled.
The middle-aged man turned around, surprised to see his good students in his office. “Zell? Selphie? What are you two doing here?” They both panted from the exhaustion. Zell almost fell over.
“It's Quistis,” Selphie panted. “She hasn't come back yet and we're both REALLY worried about her.”
“Yeah,” Zell added in. “We're afraid that Seifer might have hurt her.” The headmaster nodded.
“Both of you calm down,” he commanded. “I'm sure Quistis is just doing some late training. There is no reason for us to jump to conclusions.”
Suddenly the phone rang. Cid picked it up. As he talked to the person on the other line his face went white. He slowly put down the phone. “Oh my god,” he muttered.
“WHAT,” Zell and Selphie both gasped. He turned towards the two hyperactive teenagers with a grave expression.
“It's Quistis,” he announced. “Something terrible has happened to her.”
A/N: Well there you have it. Chapter one! Next chapter things will begin to get more interesting. Thanks for reading.
