Chapter 12: The lost desert
Over the course of the next few days, Jira began to recover. As she slowly started to recover, Claire searched her healing books to see what to do about Jira. Though tiring work, Knoll agreed to hover Jira and her bed along with us for her day of “rest” we all had to be silent, as not to wake Jira. Jonas had to do a complicated spell (with the help of Claire, and Knoll) to keep Arielle’s lips shut.
As we entered a seemingly small desert, Payton noticed something on the map. “This desert isn’t on the map” he said
“Huh? Really?” I asked him
“Yeah,” said Riley, looking over Payton’s shoulder at the map “we’re currently entering Renais, but there aren’t deserts listed here!” I silence fell over the group, aside from Arielle noisily trying to pry her lips apart. “Malikai was walking silently aside Parz, and suddenly stopped moving.
“Oh no!” Said Malikai, in a strained voice
“What?” Asked Lord Ken
“MMMMmmfffFFfFFthhththhthtpppthth!!” Said Arielle, in a muffled voice
There was a silence. Everyone stared at Arielle. Jonas tried to undo the spell on Arielle’s lips, but couldn’t. Suddenly, Knarth stepped forward and snapped his fingers. Arielle was free again. Nobody knew that Knarth was that experienced in magic.
“This is known as the lost desert!” She said, in a heavily breathing voice
“Yes,” Malikai continued “I heard stories about it long ago. The desert never ends, unless you wish to cross the endless sea.”
“Well THAT sounds pointless” said Jira
“Jira’s right!” exclaimed Claire “There’s GOT to be a way out of here!”
“Well, it’s not exactly an endless sea, it’s just that nobody’s ever returned from it.”
“Ooh! That’s even better!” Claire said, exasperated. Suddenly Parz’s Pegasus, who was gliding next to Parz and his Wyvern, jumped up, and started flying in circles around Parz. Riley went to investigate what was happening, and tripped on something. We all looked down to see a man, fully armored, lying in the sand. There was blood trickling down his face, coming from a wound on the top of his head.
“K-King… Eph-Ep-hraim!” The soldier stuttered. Ken knelt beside the man, and said, “Where is my uncle?”
“A-all… Go-gone…b-boat… gone…” Then the soldier faded, and died. Arielle shrieked, and hid behind James. Jira weakly walked up to Ken, and whispered something in his ear with her weak voice. Ken straightened up and announced, “Jira, here has made sense of this poor man’s messages! It seems that somebody, most likely my uncle and his troops, attacked HIS troops, which were standing guard here. What they were guarding, we don’t know. Apparently, my uncle escaped on a boat. And the only way out of here on a boat is-“
“The endless sea…” said Payton. Everyone turned to look at him. “We need to find out what the men were guarding. It may be something helpful to our quest. Also, if we wish to pursue the King, we need a boat. This thing the men were guarding could be a boat.”
Following Payton’s words, the group trudged forward. We walked for miles and miles. The men shed their shirts, with the exception of Knarth, who never made a sound. Claire, Arielle, and Jira decided to shed their shirts too, but leave their bras on.
While most of the guys were drooling over the girl’s bodies, I saw something ahead, in the distance. Wavy from the heat, it could have been an oasis, but it wasn’t. It was a house. A house surrounded by a lake, and palm trees. “HOLY F**K!!!” Exclaimed a surprised Jonas “It’s a house!”
We all dived into the water, and swam out to the island the house sat on. It was a relatively small house, all made out of logs. There was absolutely nothing inside besides a hole in the floor, exposing more of the lake, but under a roof. We all settled in.
Later that night, everybody had settled in. We had all rolled out our sleeping bags, and were relaxing either in the shade, or in the lake. I was taking a catnap under a palm tree, when somebody crawled on top of me. I opened my eyes to see Jira’s face jammed up against mine in a tight kiss. When she broke the kiss, she stood up, revealing her wearing her mom’s revealing swimsuit. As we entered a seemingly small desert, Payton noticed something on the map. “This desert isn’t on the map” he said

“Hey!” she said, merrily
“Uhh…” I was staring at the tightness of the swimsuit “…Hi!” Jira leaned in close to me
“Wanna skinny dip?” she whispered in my ear
“What?!” I asked, surprised
“Yeah, you know! Swimming naked!” There was a silence as Arielle walked by, wearing only undergarments.
“Well, I…”
“Yes!” Jira pumped the air with her fists, dragged me to the water, and began to strip down…
Claire’s POV
Where is it? I must have SOME book on it! Hmm… spontaneous fainting… unprompted fainting… impulsive fainting… I know I have something about it! But where is it!! ………………. Oh no! Oh, no way!
Claire woke up at around midnight. Malikai had fallen asleep inside the “in-house lake”, and was snoring soundly, with only half of his body visible from above the water. Claire tiptoed over to me, and sat down next to me. “I found out what was wrong with Jira!” She whispered in my ear
“Really?” I asked, impatiently
“She may be possessed!” Claire said reluctantly “There was only a paragraph about it in one of my books. It said, ‘When preceding the entrance of an unexpected land, a certain person may be possessed by a dark entity. There has only been two known recordings of this happening, and is very rare.’” I broke down in tears. Claire slinked back to where she was sleeping. I turned around, and put my hands down on the ground, only to see Jira lying below me. I had my hands squeezing her breasts on accident. She chose that exact time to wake up.
