Frozen In The Snow
Chapter Eight: Snowflakes
By: Demon Priestess Saturn
Kyo stalked down the road grumbling to himself. Oh how he hated having to talk to this woman. As he turned a corner he reached the edge of the park. As he stopped at the edge of the park he looked around and waited for the woman he dreaded seeing. Soon he heard something move behind him. He turned quickly to see the woman he had come to find, Isuzu.
“What are you doing here?” Isuzu narrowed her brown eyes.
“I came to tell you that Yuki isn't coming.” Kyo grumbled.
“Got cold feet did he.” Isuzu looked away from the cat.
“Don't say that. Look I could have just let you sit out here for hours waiting but I was nice enough to come tell you. Besides it's not his fault he can't walk.” Kyo snapped.
“Well it's his fault for not talking to me before he went to talk to Akito now isn't it.” Isuzu glared at him.
“How were we supposed to know Akito was going to rip his stitches?” Kyo was getting a little more than pissed. He would have preferred to stay home and let the bitch stand out in the cold. “Look I'm sure he'll talk to you when he's feeling better. Oh wait that's right you're such a bitch that it doesn't matter how others feel.” Kyo turned and went to walk off.
“You should talk Kyo. After all who was the one who left Kagura out in the middle of nowhere and intended for her to suffer because you wouldn't tell her about you so called relationship. As far as I'm concerned you're the one who is the heartless selfish bastard. At least Yuki had the common courtesy to tell her she had no hope.” Isuzu snapped. “Or perhaps you were to wrapped up in how bad you life was to pay attention to that.”
“I know I'm a horrible person. Why did you have to remind me? Does it make you feel better to trance on others? You're just being a bully Isuzu and I don't have time to sit here and take your shit.” Kyo walked away without saying another word. Isuzu only stared at him as he walked off and kicked the bench a few minutes later. She wasn't getting the answer to her question today.
………………….
Kyo walked into Shigure's house and sighed. Glancing over at the phone he thought of Kagura. He walked over to the phone and picked it up off the receiver. As he looked at the phone he started to punch in the numbers and then stopped when he got to the last one.
“She's right… I am horrible.” Kyo hung up the phone and walked up the stairs. He looked over at Yuki closed bedroom door and sighed heavily.
“Kyo.” Tohru stepped out of her room and into the hall.
“Hey.” Kyo frowned.
“What's the matter?” Tohru walked over and looked up at him.
“Isuzu said something that upset me a little that's all. It's not big deal. How's Yuki?” Kyo looked at her.
“He's asleep finally.” Tohru looked down.
“How's his back?” Kyo asked.
“Hatori said he should stay in bed for a few days to get better.” Tohru said while still looking at her shoes.
“What's the matter?” Kyo stared at her.
“I'm so worried. Yuki hasn't said a word since we left the main house. I don't know if he's okay. After what he said I just don't know what to think. He's never ever said anything about being abused.” Tohru looked up at Kyo with tears in her eyes.
“I know… I was shocked when he said it too.” Kyo looked down. “You know. Yuki never says anything. I never really paid attention until now but he never says how he's feeling or what he wants. He's worse than you when it comes to expressing himself. I can't believe I never noticed before.”
“I don't know what to do Kyo. I want to help but I feel like he doesn't want me to.” Tohru said with a frown.
“Maybe you should talk to him about it. Now that you know I think it's time you said something to him.” Kyo looked at her.
“That's okay?” Tohru looked up at him wide-eyed. “You won't be mad?”
“No.” Kyo shook his head. “Talk to him. Somebody needs to. I would suggest Haru but…”
“Poor Hatsuharu san… Yuki was so upset when that happened.” Tohru bit her lower lip.
“Really it's okay. Go talk to him.” Kyo smiled slightly.
“Have you talked to Kagura yet?” Tohru looked at him.
“No. I don't deserve to talk to her.” Kyo folded his arms.
“But I'm sure she would like to hear from you.” Tohru said calmly.
“Then why does she keep hanging up the damn phone?” Kyo snapped.
“I… I don't know… Why don't you try again?” Tohru said quickly.
“Oh I don't know.” Kyo sounded frustrated. Tohru rested her hands on his arm.
“Keep trying I'm sure you'll get a hold of her.” Tohru smiled at him. “She'll forgive you.”
“You think so?” Kyo looked at her.
“Yes of course she will. Kagura chan loves you.” Tohru smiled brightly.
“Okay. I'll try again.” Kyo sighed.
“I'm going to go make dinner. Do you have any suggestions?” Tohru said as she walked down the hall a little ways.
“Yeah something without leeks.” Kyo said calmly.
“Okay.” Tohru smiled and walked down the stairs.
“Stupid Isuzu doesn't know what she's talking about.” Kyo grumbled and looked back at Yuki's door and frowned. After thinking to himself for a few minutes he walked into his room and changed clothes. When he came back out he headed downstairs and picked up the phone.
“Hello this is Kyo I need to…” Kyo glared. “Fuck! God damn it Kagura!” He slammed the phone back down.
………………….
“Hello Hari I brought you some treats!” Shigure said from outside Hatori's front door. Hatori opened the door calmly and gestured for him to come inside. As they walked back into the spotless house which smelled kind of like a doctor's office Shigure could see a man with long platinum blonde hair sitting at the table with a cup of tea. “Aya!”
“Shigure!” Ayame's golden yellow eyes went wide as he jumped up and danced over to Shigure.
“It has simply been too long my friend.” Shigure sighed.
“Yes it has now don't tell me you've been running game while I was gone. Naughty, naughty puppy. You know I am the only one fit for you.” Ayame extended his arms out and his long red dress style coat swayed a little.
“Oh Aya you know I wouldn't betray you. I simply care for you too much to do such a horrible act.” Shigure over dramatized.
“Right on!” Both Ayame and Shigure gave each other a thumbs up.
“Shigure would you like some tea?” Hatori asked from the kitchen ignoring they're banters.
“Oh I'll get him some tea!” Ayame brighten up.
“I assure you I can handle it myself Ayame.” Hatori said calmly.
“Yes I would thank you.” Shigure smiled.
“So how are things back at the house? How is my little brother doing?” Ayame looked at Shigure.
“Not well I'm afraid.” Shigure said with a frown.
“Akito ripped Yuki's stitches the other day.” Hatori said as he walked over and handed Shigure a cup.
“Ah thank you. Nothing like a cup of warm tea to brighten up your day.” Shigure took a sip and almost spit it out. “Hot… Hot…”
“I heard that Yuki got upset with Akito for going back on his word.” Ayame said as he sat down at the table again followed by both Shigure and Hatori.
“Yes he did.” Shigure sipped the tea carefully and smiled.
“Has he come out of his room yet?” Hatori looked at Shigure.
“No. Kyo and Tohru have been trying to talk to him but to no avail.” Shigure looked back at Hatori.
“He must be blaming himself again.” Hatori shook his head.
“Or maybe he just needs some brotherly attention! And seeing I am his only brother it is my job to comfort him in his time of need. Then it is decided. Shigure I shall return with you to your house and help my brother get better.” Ayame said boldly.
“Whoever said we were deciding something?” Hatori looked at him. The three were quiet for a moment before Shigure looked seriously at Hatori.
“Are you fairing well?” Shigure asked.
“I'm fine why?” Hatori looked at him with an expressionless face.
“Oh Hatori we both know that things aren't well. How is she fairing?” Ayame looked at him. Hatori frowned and stared at the table suddenly realizing what they were referring to.
“She's not doing well.” Hatori continued to stare. “In fact she's getting worse.”
“It seems Akito was wrong about her happiness.” Shigure sipped his tea again and Hatori looked up at him. “It's a shame really. Is there anything you can do?”
“No… There's nothing.” Hatori looked down at the table and then back at Shigure. “How's Mayuko taking it?” Shigure almost dropped the tea cup at the mention of his ex-girlfriend.
“She's very upset. Or at least she was when I last talked with her.” Ayame said calmly.
“Oh dear.” Shigure commented.
“Perhaps you should pay her a visit.” Hatori looked at Shigure.
“Oh don't be silly.” Shigure waved his hand slightly and smiled. “She doesn't want to have anything to do with me.”
“Besides me and Shigure are together we don't need a girl getting in the way.” Ayame boosted.
“I'm sure Ayame.” Hatori rolled his eyes. “Anyways I better go check on Akito. It's about that time again.”
“Is it? Time sure goes by fast now-a-days.” Shigure looked at a clock.
“Yeah.” Hatori sighed and stared out the window.
………………….
Kyo paced around the living room glancing at the phone. He had left a message on Kagura's answering machine and had been waiting for her to call for three hours. He sighed heavily again and flopped onto the couch. Shigure was off at Hatori's house and hadn't come back. Tohru was out with Hana and Arisa for a day of shopping. And as for Yuki, he still hadn't come out of his room.
“This sucks!” Kyo yelled as he grabbed the phone and dialed Kagura's number. “Hi!” Kyo perked up as he heard a new voice on the other line. “I need to speak to Kagura is she there?” Kyo frowned. “Oh she's not… Do you know when she will be back? No… Okay I'll call back later.” Kyo hung up the phone and sighed again. “Damn it…” The cat whined. “All I want is to apologize.” Then the doorbell rang. Kyo jumped up from the couch and opened the door. He frowned at the person standing in the doorway. “What are you doing here?”
“Yuki called me and said he would like to speak with me today. So get the hell out of my way Kyo.” Isuzu glared.
“Is that Rin?” Yuki came halfway down the stairs.
“Yeah.” Kyo was so happy to see him out of his room that he temporally forgot Isuzu was there.
“Oh good.” Yuki came down the stairs the rest of the way. “I'm sorry about the other day.”
“Yeah whatever.” She pushed past Kyo and walked over to him. “I want an answer. What happened to Haru? I know you know.”
“Calm down Rin and sit down.” Yuki gestured to the couch.
“Fine. And what are you still doing in here?” She glared at Kyo. “Leave!”
“Fine! Bitch.” Kyo stormed out of the room.
“Well.” Isuzu looked over at Yuki.
“To tell you the truth I'm not sure yet. When I confronted Akito with the question he avoided answering it.” Yuki looked at her.
“So you don't know. Fine I'm leaving.” Isuzu stood up and started to walk away.
“Wait.” Yuki grabbed her arm. “I need to ask you some things. It's the only way I am going to find out what happened. Rin I need to know why you broke up with Haru.”
“Why I broke up with Haru… What does that have to do with anything?” Isuzu glared at him.
“Well I have to start some where.” Yuki frowned. “Haru said that he didn't really know why you broke up with him. I asked him if Akito had anything to do with it and he said he didn't know. The reason I am asking you is if Akito did have something to do with it then that proves my theory that Haru's accident wasn't an accident.”
“You think Akito did it?” Isuzu looked at him like he was crazy.
“Akito said something to me that has been bothering me for a few days now. He told me not to disobey him or he would punish me as he did Haru. So tell me Rin was Akito the reason you broke up with Haru? Did Haru find out what Akito did? Because if so…”
“That stupid cow!” Isuzu looked away from Yuki. “Stupid… Stupid cow!”
“Rin…” Yuki looked at her strangely.
“I've heard enough. You stay away from Akito and stop asking those stupid questions.” Isuzu glared. “How could he have found out… Hiro…” Isuzu's eyes went wide. “Hiro…”
“What's going on?” Yuki looked at her.
“Nothing just mind your own business.” Isuzu glared and then walked out the door. Yuki blinked a few times and then sat on the couch. He was even more confused than he was before. Kyo stepped back into the room and looked down at him.
“Well I'm glad to see you look better. At least you're not limping as bad.” Kyo looked at him.
“Yeah…” Yuki whispered as he put his hand to his forehead and continued to think.
“So Isuzu was dating Haru. Why didn't you tell me?” Kyo sat down next to him.
“You were listening?” Yuki looked at him.
“Yeah just like I was listening the day Haru tried to kill himself.” Kyo looked at him.
“I should of known you hadn't really left.” Yuki sighed.
“I was worried about him.” Kyo shrugged. “Why did he anyways?”
“Because Rin broke up with him. He didn't know how to deal with it. He had fallen in love with her. In fact I was glad when he decided she simply didn't know how much he loved her because it distracted him and got him focused on something other than the pain.” Yuki stared at the scar on his hand. “So then he was trying to prove how much he loved her after that.”
“So you think their relationship might be the reason Haru is in his coma?” Kyo looked curiously at him.
“I don't know. All I know is I don't believe it was an accident. I also am blaming Akito for it though I'm not sure why.” Yuki looked confused. “And the conversation just now has confused me even more.”
“Yeah I wonder why Hiro was mentioned. He has nothing to do with this.” Kyo leaned back against the couch and stared at the wall.
“Hiro…” Yuki perked up. “Or maybe he does.”
“What do you mean?” Kyo looked at Yuki.
“Hiro is good friends with Rin. So if there is anyone who knew what happened with their relationship it's him.” Yuki stood up.
“That still doesn't mean anything.” Kyo looked at him a raised a brow.
“Yes it does because Hiro can never keep his mouth shut for too long. If he blurted something out to Haru this might explain the whole situation.” Yuki said calmly. “Thanks Kyo I think you just gave me an answer.” Yuki walked over to the door.
“Where are you going?” Kyo looked over at him.
“To the main house. I need to talk to Hiro.” Yuki said as he walked out the door.
“But Akito's still mad at you!” Kyo yelled but Yuki was already gone. “Go damn it… Stupid rat…” Kyo looked at the telephone and then at the clock. “It's been a half an hour…” Kyo dove for the phone and dialed Kagura's number for the sixtieth time. “Hello is Kagura there?”
