Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Snake of a Different Color ❯ three ( Chapter 3 )
Snake of a Different Color
A/N: This is the chapter that makes the story take a turn for the better! Yay! All right, I don't own Fruits Basket. I'm not quite sure how (and if) they have their high school reunions, so I'm just going to make up how I think a high school reunion will be like for their school! Of course, I don't think they had Homecoming kings and queens…
Chapter 3
Shigure was the one to break the silence with a sigh. "It looks so beautiful," he said.
He, Hatori, and Ayame were standing in front of the gym of their old high school.
"Nothing special," Hatori commented. "They didn't even bother to decorate the outside."
A happy couple passed them. "It's so beautiful! I can't believe it's been ten years!"
Ayame walked up to them. "It should be illegal to keep us away that long."
The couple turned to him, and stared at him blankly. Ayame smiled at them.
"Ayame Sohma?" the woman asked. She looked at him up and down, taking in his red dress suit and his black hat, holding all his hair in hiding.
"The one and only!" He closed his eyes and smiled wider.
"What's with the corny hat? Where's your hair?"
Ayame's eyes opened, and his face turned blank. "Eh…"
The man laughed. "Don't tell me you cut it all off! This is the same hair, that you were very obsessive of in high school, that we're still talking about, right?"
"Look at the time!" Shigure exclaimed, walking up to them. "We better get inside!" He pushed Ayame towards the gym. Hatori nodded at the now confused couple as he passed by.
"Well," said the man, "that was strange."
The woman agreed, and they followed the others into the gym.
Not too far away, laughter was heard from behind a bush.
"Did you see that?"
"Po, this isn't good," Crystal said, looking at her sister, who was hugging a tree for support from laughing so much. "Aya was wearing an illegal looking hat with his clothes! I hope he isn't too hurt about it."
Pojo gasped and pushed herself off the tree, but fell back onto it again, for she was still laughing. "But did you see his face when those two mentioned his hair?"
"Pojo! Be serious!"
Pojo immediately stopped laughing. "Don't you talk to me about being serious! You don't have the right!" She sighed at Crystal's frightened looked. "Come on, time to go."
