Snake of a Different Color

A/N: Here's chapter two! If you want a list of colors that Ayame's hair will change into later on, just tell me. Or, you can be like the characters, and have fun finding out what the colors are on your own. Fun little mystery while you read…neat! Read and enjoy!

Chapter Two

Shigure nodded his head, twirling his pen as he listened to Ayame's tale.

"Uh-huh," he said. "And then what happened?"

"It was horrible! I looked in a mirror, and saw my hair was light blue! But, when I saw it, I got scared, and the most frightening thing happened!"

"What? What happened?" Shigure let his head fall to the side. "The suspense is killing me."

"My hair turned purple!"

"What a tragedy!" Kyo exclaimed.

"I know!" Ayame, at this point, had tears flowing down his cheeks.

"Well, it's not purple now." Kyo examined Ayame's hair. "It's streaked. Red, light blue, purple, and black."

Ayame screamed and ran from the room.

Kyo looked at Shigure. "He's very conscious about his hair," Shigure exclaimed.

"Oh, excuse me, Miss Honda," Ayame was heard.

"Ayame! What happened! We ran all the way here!" Tohru asked.

"Why do you ask? Nothing happened, I'm perfectly fine. Why don't you believe that I'm perfectly fine?" he said all in one breath.

"Well…"

"Because you're turning from green to red," Yuki said.

Kyo and Shigure looked at each other during the silence that followed. Kyo opened his mouth to say something, but Yuki spoke again.

"And now you're pink."

"What?" Ayame asked in a monotone.

Tohru walked into the room where Shigure and Kyo were. As soon as they saw Ayame in his snake form, Kyo fainted, and Shigure held his hand over his mouth to keep from busting out laughing. It wasn't working, however, he was shaking uncontrollably.

"What?" Ayame asked again.

"What are you changing colors every seven seconds?" Tohru asked him as he changed again.

"WHAT?"

Tohru pulled out a mirror from her backpack, and put him in front of the mirror. Ayame watched in horror as he changed from orange to brown.

Tohru looked down at him as she felt him go limp. She gasped and held him up. "He's dead!"

Kyo snapped awake. "Really?" he and Yuki asked at the same time.

"He's not dead, he's fainted," Shigure said. "See? He's changing again."

Yuki and Kyo slumped in disappointment.

"What happened?" Tohru asked, putting Ayame on the table.

"It seems that Aya has a spell put on him."

"In two seconds?" Yuki asked, disbelievingly.

"I couldn't see why," Tohru said. "He was running faster than the speed of light. He passed us when we were just a few minutes away from here."

"Well, he got a spell put on him by these two witches," Shigure explained. "He can't remember the spell, but when the magic was finished…"

Ayame jumped awake. "The most frightening thing happened!"

"What?" Tohru asked.

"I looked in the mirror and…"

"Saw your face?" Yuki asked. "OOO! So scary!"

Ayame ignored Yuki and turned to Shigure. "what am I to do? I can't go to our high school reunion looking like this!"

"Of course not," Kyo said, poking Ayame's little snake body. "All the girls will run and scream."

Ayame snapped at Kyo, and then turned to Tohru. "Excuse me, Miss Honda, my clothes please?"

Tohru blushed, ran out of the room, reappeared with Ayame's clothes and her eyes closed, and she ran back out of the room.

Just as she exited, Ayame changed back to his human form (complete with black hair), Shigure's face quickly wen tot that of someone who just got hit with realization.

"Aya…" he said, absently.

Ayame sat down, fully clothes, his hair changing to dark blue, sighing a sad sigh. "Yes, Shigure?"

"Did one have blonde hair?"

"Yes."

"And did the other have black-ish, green-ish hair?"

"Yes."

"Po and Crystal!" Shigure exclaimed.

Recognition passed through Ayame, and his hair changed to white, and his smiled. "You're right! That's why they were so familiar! I'm so happy that I finally figured out who they are!" His hair changed to yellow.

"Who's Po and Crystal?" Yuki asked.

"We dated them back in high school," Ayame said.

"You dated witches?" Kyo asked.

"Of course!" Shigure said. "Dating witches back then made you very popular. People were nice either nice to you or afraid of you. I don't know why, though…Sadly, though, they found out our secret and had to get their memories erased by Akito. Wait, if that happened, then how can they still know you, Aya?"

"What do I care? I've finally solved that dumb mystery that has been bugging me all day!"

Kyo looked around the room as Ayame started singing a victory song ("That mystery didn't slide past me!"). Kyo turned to Yuki. "What time is? I'm hungry."

Ayame suddenly stopped singing and dancing. "It's time to get ready!" He and Shigure ran out of the room, Ayame's hair turning to purple. "Hurry! We might not get there in time!"
