Mirai Trunks and his ‘brother’ yawned at the same time, both resting on their chests. Goten shoved Trunks, who moved into Mirai. They glanced up at him in curiosity. The Son just shook his head.
“Alright class, settle down and listen to me just once. We have a new student. Patti Mattimeo.”
A young girl with long black and green highlighted hair stepped forward from the classroom doorway. She had on the typical attire of teenagers; plain long black t-shirt with baggy denim pants. A grey shoulder back pack hung by her hip. Raven locks hid her slightly pale face as her cheeks blushed lightly.
“You may pick any seat you wish.”
Goten shot up, causing Trunks to jump. “You Can Sit Here With Me!!! I mean….us….” He rubbed his head in the typical Son fashion from the mistake.
Matti did so quietly, taking a seat beside Goten. As the teacher began his lesson, the students started to converse with each other in whispers. “Hey, I’m Son Goten.”
The girl glanced at him. “Patti Mattimeo. You can call me Matt or anything related to that.”
“Hey, that rhymed. That’s so cool.” Trunks and Mirai groaned at the charming comment. “Where do you come from? I’m from the East Region 439, and the brothers behind me live in Capsule Corp.”
Matti blinked. ‘Uh-oh…..What did Knives tell me…..’ She quickly sought out an answer. “Um-well, I’m from…..Arlington. Yeah! Arlington!”
“Really? That’s not very far.”
“I know. The East region is. Don’t tell me you commute.”
Goten grinned. “Yup! My brother did when he came here too. One hell of a boring ride, no doubt about it!”

Aside from the classes, lunch was another difficult time for Greed. She had Goten in only two of her subjects, Trunks in one, Mirai in gym. She could not understand why everybody had to eat with each other. Her siblings never did in the church.
“Hey guys.”
She glanced over her shoulder to see Goten and his friends at a table. He sat down. Trunks leaned over and grabbed a hand full of fries.
“What do you think of the new girl?” The purple headed hybrid asked before dropping the potatoy goodness into his awaiting mouth.
Mirai took a sip of his soda through a straw, hand resting on the cover. “I think we all know what Goten is thinking every time he sees her.” He informed, smirking like his father.
Unknowingly, both Greed and Goten blushed in unison. “Aw, shut up,” the boy snapped, “At least I don’t go around sniffing girls to see if they’re in heat or not!!”
“Fuck you, homo.” Trunks shot, knowing the insult was directed to him.
Mirai glared at both of them. “Boys, stop it. We’re in school, for crying out loud. At least save it for the sparring matches.”
‘Sparring?’ Greed thought. She now took a table a short distance away to listen and watch while still being out of site.
“Whatever Mirai. Anyway, that Matti is a smart girl. Patti Mattimeo…..I wonder where she got a name like that.”
‘Wrath and his books.’ Greed answered with a smile.
“No idea. Weird name. Eyes too!” Mirai pointed at his own crystal pair. “Have you seen them?! Scariest orbs I ever had to see. Dark PINK! Never seen anything like it.”
Greed slapped a palm to her forehead. ’Shit! The one thing I can change in my appearance….that humans have and I had to screw up! Why didn’t I let them stay green?! Damn it….’ She glanced around, then covered her face.
Goten, glaring at Trunks for another insult, caught Matti a little farther away. He got up, flipping the table and catching Mirai’s drink and letting it spill in his lap. “M-chan! Hey-Sit-Ov-Er-Here!!”
Mirai growled in his throat, the cold ice freezing his shorts. “Goten, what the fuck?!” Face red, he brushed off his pants.
Matti sat beside Goten after he pulled a chair up for her. “Ah, hey guys. What’s up?”
“Goten.” Trunks turned to hide his snickers.
His friend glared, but said nothing. “How have your classes been?” he asked the girl.
She shrugged, not sure how any other student would respond. “Same as you guys, I suppose.”
Mirai miserably plopped back down, tossing his jacket on the table. “You have Mrs. Pozdena , right? Make sure to kiss her ass extra hard for an A. She’s a bitch. Through my years with her, I‘ve never had an A and neither has any of my friends.”
“Um, ok. I’ll remember to do that.” Matti said. ‘Knives always taught us that we should never have to bow down to anybody…..’
“You know, Mirai, you should find a change of cloths before people start to think you pissed yourself……or had a REALLY dirty thought.”
“Shut up, bro.” He blushed vividly folding his arms and pouting to hide his embarrassment. “I’ll change next class.”
“Mirai!”
They both looked at Matti curiously from the out burst.
She smiled and rubbed the back of her head. “Gomen. I just remembered…that I wanted to comment on your name. I really like it, yet I don’t understand why it means ‘future‘. I think it‘s really nice.”
Goten’s jaw dropped.
Mirai smirked charmingly. “Arigato gozaimasu.” he thanked in formal, “My father liked the name. Since I was the first born, I was to be the ’future’ of his legacy. My brother wasn’t so lucky…”
“Wow. That’s neat.” She then noticed Trunks’ reaction to his brother’s explanation. “Ah, your name is rather….unique too, Trunks.”
“Well, can I ask you where your name came from?” the time traveler asked, “I’ve never heard a pretty name like that before, or seen such eyes like yours.”
Goten’s blood was boiling now. He knew Mirai could sense his ki; it was hardly unnoticeable.
Matti thought up answers as she spoke. “Um-you see, the name is passed down from a lot of generations. Mine is from Italy, actually.” ‘Atta girl, not fully the truth, but close enough.’ “As for my eyes, I wear contacts. That’s why they changed color.” ‘Even Better! Nice Work!!’
“Really? Bad vision, huh?” Goten asked, trying to nudge his way back into conversation with the girl.
She just nodded. “Yeah, can’t see very well.” ’I’ve got them eating out the palm of my hand! Knives would be proud!’

“So, how did the little Bookworm’s first day go?” Envy asked his sister as he awaited her arrival.
Greed shrugged him off. “Fine. I have homework, so do not bother me. I’ll be in my room.” She hugged her books and continued down the hall.
Envy howled obnoxiously, leaping from his high perch in the wooden rafters. “Have fun with that. As long that you don’t get any detentions, I won’t kick your ass about homework!!”
“Whatever, Envy.” Greed mumbled, closing her bedroom door behind her. BlueBell chirped, emerging from under the bed to rub against her leg. His tail curled around her ankle. She set her books and backpack on the pine desk by her window. Peeking outside, her emotions caused sulking. The day made her whole body exhausted, not to mention how crammed her brain felt.
