note-don't own the characters--only own Lilly
Lilly walked to Ed and Al's room. They have been gone only a day and I already miss them so much. She walked over to Ed's desk. A book that was for beginners of Alchemy was on it. Ed tryed to get me to learn Alchemy a while back. I wasn't interrested then. But now... She picked up the book and began to read it.
Lilly asked Hawkeye if she would get her more books on Alchemy from the library, and soon Lilly was studying all the books she could get her hands on. She never tryed Alchemy though and never asked anyone to do it for her since she had seen Ed and Al do it plenty of times. In a way, it kept her mind off of their absence. She studyed whatever she could and tryed her best not to think about them not being around. At nights she would have deams of Ed leaving and not comming back so she hardly slept, instead she studyed.
While Lilly studyed, Winry watched for Ed and Al's return. She was happy that Lilly didn't go with them because she hated the fact that Ed would always be by her and Winry would have to fall behind them. Ever since she found out about Lilly being there, she had been a little jealous. Ed had never showed so much care for Winry as he did for Lilly. He was so worryed about Lilly all the time and he even worries about her when she is safe. Winry wanted him to be that way with her. She always got sent home after a few days of visiting and at first she thought it was because he was scared to get her into more trouble like with Barry the Chopper, but now it seemed as if he wanted her to leave so he could do other things without her being in the way. Come to think of it, he didn't even look at me after we were rescued from Barry the Chopper. He didn't even say two words to me. I thought it was because he didn't want me to see him cry, but maybe it was because he felt I was a burden to have around..... No, he would never think that. Ed is my friend, and he has always tryed to protect me. But why has he ignored me so much latly, and been so close to Lilly? What makes her so special, besides her freaky powers? Why is she so important to him?
Winry had tones of thoughts that ran through her head, but she couldn't find answers to any of the thoughts. She knew that they would always only be thoughts, but to her, they were the most important things at the moment.

Ed and Al got out of the car and looked at the building. They were so glad to be back. Their trip had been another dead end. All they got was the same story the man had told them at the bar. They still had no clue as to what the man with the Philosopher Stone looked like or where to find him. They had learned nothing new on the trip and felt it was a wast of time.
Winry and the others had been waiting for their return and all greeted them with a hand shake. Winry hugged Ed and welcomed him and Al home with a smile. As Ed talked to Winry Al went inside to put Ed's bags down. When he sat them down he saw Lilly running. She slowed when she saw him. She gave him a soft hug and welcomed him home. She asked where Ed was and Al took her out side to see him. Before she got both feet our the door, she spoted Ed and ran towards him. Ed looked behind Winry and moved behind her as Lilly got closer. Lilly ran into Ed with open. She jumped into Ed's arms, who stummbled back some and began to laugh. Lilly began to laught, too, as she hugged him tighter.
"Welcome Home!" Lilly yelled not letting go.
"I am glad to be home," Ed said back.
Lilly finally let go and took a step back. Her smile brightened as she looked at the necklace in the shape of a tear drop around Ed's necklace.
"I have missed you and Al. How was your trip?"
"We have missed you, too. It was another dead end."
"Then you haven't found what you are looking for?"
"No. But one day we will find the Philosopher Stone."
Lilly reached her hand out and grabed Ed's. She smiled then walked inside with him. Winry stood and watched as yet again she was ignored by the one person she wanted attention from more the ever. She walked in after Ed and Lilly had gone in. She walked in Ed and Al's room where Al had begun to serve food for them and saved some for Winry. She smiled as he gave her a bowl and let her sit next to him. Ed and Al talked about the people they had ran into and the small adventures they ran into on the way there. Lilly and Winry laughted at Ed when Al told them how he blew up again at some stranger for calling him short.
Later that night, Lilly had fallen asleep on the floor where she had been drawing and coloring. Ed told Winry and Al that he would take her to her bed and would be back soon. It surprised him that she had fallen asleep so quickly and so early since it was only about 7:00 p.m. He gently carryed her to her bed and sliped her in. He was glad that she already had her sleep wear on since she changed earlyer that night. He took her red ribbon out of her hair and put it aside. He pulled the covers up to her shoulders and started to leave.
"Thank you for keeping your promises, Ed..."
"Your welcome, Lilly."
Ed turned the lights off and left her room.
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------
"Ed, are you awake?"
"I am now. What's wrong?"
Ed sat up for bed and looked over at Winry. She slowly walked over to Ed and sat beside him.
"I just wanted to ask you a question. I'm sorry I woke you, I just have to ask you or I want be able to sleep."
---------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------
Lilly woke up and was sweating. Another bad dream? Why can't I stop having these dreams? I know that Ed is safe and home, but something must still be bothering me if I keep having dreams of watching him leave. I don't know what's wrong. Maybe I should go talk to him. Lilly got out of bed and tip-toed towards Ed's door.
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------
"Ok, what's on your mind?"
"I want to know what you think of me." Winry stated
"Well, I think your nice and a good mechanic and....."
"No, I mean if you think of me as a friend or more than a friend."
"Oh, well....uh....."
------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------
Lilly got to Ed's door and found it cracked a little. She peered in before going in and saw Windy and Ed sitting on Ed's bed. Curious, she opened the door a little more to get a better view. She quietly listened.
"That's a very personal question, Winry. I don't like people being in my personal business."
"All I want to know is if you like me more than a friend. Is that so much to ask for? It's not even that personal when it's a question about the person who asked."
"Winry, It's not that simple..."
Lilly's eyes got bigger as Winry closed her lips around Ed's. Ed's eyes did the same thing, only closed after a few seconds. Winry let her tongue slip into Ed's mouth. Ed followed and Winry let out a moan. Winry wraped her arms around Ed's neck and Ed wraped his arms around Winry's waist, drawing her closer. Lilly put her hand over her mouth to prevent a sound form comming out as she cryed and ran to her room.
When Lilly got to her room she shut the door and got beck into bed. She cryed as silently as she could and tryed to stop, but the pain was to much. It hurts so much. I don't understand. How can it hurt if I only have a crush on him? Why does it hurt so much? Why can't I stop crying? This is too much. This pain is storng, it feels like my heart is being crushed by a huge rock. I can't stop the pain. I can't stop it...
Lilly cryed herself to sleep and finally figured out her dream. Ed was leaving her in her dream because in real life he was leaving her to be with someone else. She hated that feeling and blamed herself for not relizing that Ed had always wanted to be with Winry. She felt stupid and blind, but most of all she felt a pain she had never felt before.
---------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------
The next day it rained. Lilly never left her room and never answered the door. She kept it locked and didn't go out to eat nor tell Al, who kept knocking, that she was okay. She sat in bed and let her tears fall from her eyes like she was born with them that way. She watched the rain outside her window as she sat on her bed and wished that she had never seen Ed and Winry the night before. She wanted to erase it from her memory and move on, but the pain of her heart never left nor got better.
Lilly heard a soft knock on her door and knew it was Al, because his knocks were loud. Still, she ignored it and tryed her best to pretend no one was in the world, but her. The knock came again.
"Lilly, please open your door. I want to know what's wrong," Ed said with a gental tone. "At least let me know that your okay. Please, Lilly, say something or open your door."
Hearing his voice only mad matters worse. She cryed harder and couldn't keedp quiet any longer. Ed hard her sobbs and tryed to get her to open the door again. Her leaned his head against it. I wish I knew what was wrong. I hate hearing her cry. I should get some girl to go talk to her.
Later, Ed had brought Second Lietuenant Maria Ross over to Lilly's door. She knock softly and told her that it wasn't Ed or anyone else and that she only wanted to talk. Lilly hesitated, but opened her door and let Ross in. She looked at Lilly and grabed a tissue. She wiped Lilly's eyes, but she noticed the more she wiped, the more fell back on her cheeks.
"Lilly, what's making you cry so much?" Lilly kept silent. "I promise that no matter what it is I won't tell anyone."
"Will you answer any questions I have, too?"
"Of coarse, anything."
Lilly slowly explained everything she had saw and how much it hurt. She asked all the questions she had about the kiss and the pain.
"I think it's not just a simple crush anymore, Lilly. I think it's love."
"Love? I don't understand. I read that love is suppost to be wonderful not so painful."
"Love is many things. It can feel like it is the most perfect thing, but it can also cause so much pain that is can break your heart, which has just happened to you. You saw the one person you love with someone else and it broke your heart."
"How do I fix it?"
"It's emotionally broken. So it will heal in time."
"I hate this feeling. I hate that I got my heart broken."
"Everyone who has had their heart broken, says the same thing. Is there anything else you want to know?"
Lilly thought a moment. "How are men and women different?"
"Oh, boy... No one has told you?" Lilly shook her head. "What about sex?" Lilly shook her head again. "Well, I guess now would be a good time. I wouldn't want you to find out on your own."
Ross explained everything about men and women and sex. She added extrem details even though she could see Lilly's face was shocked at some parts of her explinations. Each time Ross finished explaining one thing she asked Lilly if she understood. Lilly did, but to a point didn't want to. She listened and soaked up everyword Ross said.
"Is that it?" Lilly asked looking a little hopeful.
"Yes, I have covered everything."
"Good. I mean, thank you."
"Is that I you want to know?" Ross asked laughing.
"Yes."
"Well, I have to get back to work." She stood up at walked to the door. "If you ever have anymore questions, I am always around."
"Thank you, Ms. Maria."
Ross nodded and smiled then left. Lilly sat on her bed and thought about Ross's words. ' I don't think it's a crush anymore,Lilly. I think it's love.'
Could I really love Ed? I always felt strongly about him, but love him? That is something new. Ms. Maria said love can be good. So where is the good part?
