The rest of the day, Ed held Rika close to him and didn't allow anyone to hold her. Lilly slept and slept. Finally, Winry got enough courage to ask Ed to call the doctor for Lilly.
"She had the baby now we need to make sure she's not in any harm, Ed." Winry pleaded.
Ed looked at Rika as he feed her a bottle.
"I know. I told Al to call the doctor about five minutes ago." Ed said not looking up from Rika.
"You did?" Winry asked oblivious.
"Yeah."
Just as Winry was about to say something else, Al walked up beside her.
"The doctor is on his way." Al said.
"Good. Good." Ed mummbled.
Al and Winry walked a few feet away from him to let him think on his own.
"I'm worried about him." Winry said in a whisper.
"I am too. He has completely block out everything. He hasn't layed Rika down since we left Lilly to rest. He hasn't took his eyes off her. I think he's scared he may lose her or Lilly. Lilly seems like the baby took a lot out of her and Rika looks healthy, but we could be mislead. Ed is scared that Lilly's life is in danger. Having the doctor come will clear up some things. All we can do now is wait." Al said looking her in the eyes.
Winry turned and looked at Ed.
"I'm afraid the wait is slowly killing Edward."

Ed walked in the room where Lilly was. He turned the light on and Lilly opened her eyes. She watched as a doctor with a doctor bag come beside her. She looked up at Ed with a confussed look.
"I called the doctor to make sure you were ok. He wants to run a few test on you and the baby." Ed said patting Rika on her bottom while rocking her.
"But..." Lilly objected.
"Don't worry, I'll be right here the whole time." Ed said smiling at her.
Lilly was nervous. The doctor smiled at her to try to calm her. He helped her sit up comfortably then undid the first few buttons on her shirt. Lilly objected and moved his hands.
"I'm only going to check your heart beat, I won't expost your chest." The doctor asured him.
Lilly looked up at Ed and he nodded. Lilly relaxed a littled and let the doctor work. He checked her heart, her pulse, her breathing, her eyes, and the firmness of her body. He took notes as he worked and never lost his serious look. Once he was done, he instructed Ed to lay Rika in her crib and take her clothes off but leave her diper on. Ed did as he said and the doctor ran the same test on her as he did with Lilly. Rika began to cry, but the doctor still continued. Lilly then got upset.
"Don't let her cry. Pick her up." Lilly said to the doctor.
"She's only crying because of the coldness of my hands. She's fine." The doctor said in a gentle voice.
"But she needs me!" Lilly cryed.
"I promise that I am doing nothing to harm her. Ask your husband, he is watching my every movement."
Lilly looked up at Ed. He was indeed watching the doctor work. Ed looked just as upset with Lilly but he trusted the doctor so he keep his mouth shut. Rika's crys got louder. Lilly panicked. She moved to the edge of the bed while Ed and the doctor wasn't looking. She stood up and her legs shook under her. She ignored it and began to walk towards the crib.
"Stop it! She wants to be held!" Lilly cryed.
Ed and the doctor turned to her and gasped. Lilly then lost her balace and started to the floor. The doctor readhed over and caught her as she passed out. Ed helped him get her in bed. Rika's crys sounded like she was being murdered. Al and Winry came in through the open door to make sure everything was ok. They noticed the men putting Lilly to bed and Al ran over to help them. Al noticed Ed's necklas and pointed at it. It was glowing blue. They looked at Lilly but nothing was wrong with her. Then Ed looked at the baby. He body had a shield around it as she scream. You could see the blue glow throw the cracks of her closed eye lids. Everyone gasped.
"Winry! Get Rika! She scared!" Ed shouted as he helped the other get Lilly in bed.
Winry ran over to the baby and spoke to it gentle to get her shield down. She was scared that if she touched it, she would be blasted back just like Lilly's shield does. Finally the baby's shield disappeared and Winry scooped her put and tried to calm her. Ed ran over to her after Lilly was in bed. He too Rika from Winry and patted her on the back to calm her. The doctor was confussed and spaced out. Buy thst time Riza and Mustang ran in.
Rika's crys slowly went quiet as Ed spoke to her telling her she was safe and that 'daddy's got you.' Once she was done Ed pulled her against his chest. She rested her small head below his left shoulder and fell asleep as Ed patted her and rubbed her back. He moved everyone out of the room and downstairs. He knew he had to explain to the doctor about eveything. Once they were down stairs, eveyone sat down. Ed handed Winry the baby so he could talk to the doctor.
"I know this was a big shock but, you see, Lilly's...." Ed began.
"Not normal." The doctor finished Ed's sentence. Ed looked at him with shock then noticed that the doctor was calm and understanding. Al brought him and Ed some hot tea. "Thank you." He said taking it from him. "I new Lilly wasn't....normal...when I first came here and found out she was pregnate. She was more healthy than any one I had ever checked on. She has never been sick and never had a small cough. At first I thought that I was doing something wrong, but then I relized that she wasn't like a regular human, she was a...super human, if you will. I didn't say anything because I didn't think it was my place to question you or her. I was asked to find out what was wrong with her and I found that she was pregnate, once I had found that out, my job was done. But when you called me and told me something was wrong, I didn't think it was possible. Lilly couldn't catch a sickness, she couldn't die so easly. It was hard to put the pieces together, but I think I have." He siped his tea.
"How...How...do you know so much?" Ed asked as the others listened.
"You see, my brother was an inventor. For years he talked about making a human with speacial powers and the ablilty to feel normal human emotions. At first I thought he was crazy, but once he came to me to show me the blue prints of his soon to be creation, and it all seemed logical. Somehow, someone found out about his plans and decided to fund him if he would create the person for him. Of coarse my brother signed a contract without reading it since he was to excited that he would have a way to create his human. A few years ago, I got a call from him. He told me he had done it and that she was perfect. He sent me pictures of her before he put the last pieces together and I was ssurprised to see that she was indeed a real looking human. She had the organs and everything. With a combination of Alchemy and other additional chemicals and experiments, he was able to shape and form her body, personality, and insides. But he found out that the man that funded him wanted to use the girl as a weapon....you know the rest I am sure." He took another sipe.
"Are you saying that it was your brother who created Lilly?" Mustang asked on the edge of his seat.
"Yes, I thought I had seem Lilly before, but I disposed of the pictures my brother gave my so no one would find them and ask questions. I finally relized who she was once I saw her baby use Lilly's gift."
"So you know about Lilly?" Al asked.
"Before my brother was murdered, he sent me copies of everthing about Lilly. How she functioned, how she used her powers and how her emotions and the necklas controll her. I put them in a safe box and never opened it again for fear that if anyone knew, they would come after me. I read them before I did, so I know most everything about her. My brother was very detailed with his notes and he put a lot of 'what if's' in them. One of them was 'What if she had baby.' He wrote pages upon pages of what would happen. If he were alive today, I am sure he wouldn't be pleased with what has happened to Lilly." He looked over at Rika. "The baby now has her powers."
"What are you saying? What do you know about her?" Ed asked.
"When Lilly got pregnate, she had to transfer some of her powers to the baby so it could live in her. Once Lilly had Rika, the powers stayed with her. Now Lilly is normal and Rika has her powers. Lilly is sick. She is weak and slowly dieing. He heart beat is weak and is fading. Rika now has evey power Lilly had, and without Lilly powers her body is out of balance. When she has those lead braclets on her..." He stoped. "Have any of you seen those braclets? They..."
"We have. Many times our enemy have used them against us to kill her." Riza said.
"I see. Well then you know when she wears them they balance out her powers and prevent her from using them without harming her. But without her powers her body has trouble trying to adjust. There is no telling if she will be able to adjust without them or die." Everyone gasped. "Rika, on the other hand, is as heathy as can be. Although she has her mother powers, she is perfectly fine. The only problem is she is still conected to Lilly. She can sence Lilly's illness and fear. So she cryed when she felt Lilly's fear when I was looking at Rika. Then when Lilly passed out, Rika got screaed herself and put up a shield. When she heard Winry's familar voice, she calmed down."
"This explains everything." Ed said sitting back. His face was full of fear and consern. His heart burned with anger for not knowing this and for the tought of lossinf Lilly. He thought a moment. "Will Rika ever lose Lilly's powers?"
"Yes, once Lilly's body adjusts to losing her powers, Rika will lose them too. No harm will come to her. She will be perfectly fine. But there may be a chance that she will have some of Lilly's powers left, like to have a shield, but nothing big. If Lilly should die, the same thing will happen." The doctor said.
"She won't die!" Ed snaped at him as if it was his fault.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name." Riza said.
"It's Dr. Mile." He looked over at Ed. "I am truly sorry for all the trouble of this."
"I am to. Thank you for your help, Dr." Ed said taking Rika back from Winry.
"If you have anymore questions or need my help, call me." he said standing.
Ed nodded then Dr. Mile left. Ed looked down at Rika. She was sleeping peacefully. Tears weld up in his eyes and he pulled her closer. He began to cry and whisper to himself about how helpless he was. He got up and walked quietly to his room and closed the door behind him. He had to tell Lilly what he had found out. He had to find a way to make her better.
Everyone watched as Ed walked up the stairs. They didn't say anything. Instead the sat in silence as Al held Winry close and Mustang held Riza close. They stayed like that and thought of their own future. To them it was unfair they would never have to worry about losing their lives over losing powers. To them it was unfair that Lilly and Ed could just live a normal, happy life. They wanted Ed and Lilly to have a normal life and live peacfully just like they could. They felt helpless. Their hearts were heavy with grief and sadness. They could do anything to help. And knowing this, was slowing breaking every bit of hope they had.

Their hearts were heavy with grief and sadness. They could do anything to help. And knowing this, was slowing breaking every bit of hope they had.
