Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Lonely ❯ Plays and Regret ( Chapter 7 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
This is my second FMA fic. There are a few warnings: Winry bashing, Al OOC, Ed OOC, and this will be an Ed/Roy pairing. This fic switches POV back and forth between Ed and Roy. Some chapters with have both, some only one. I don't own FMA but this original story is mine.
There is also a color key.
Black: Author's notes and other people speaking.
Black with * means random noises.
Blue: Roy (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Red: Ed (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Now without further ado, here's the story. Enjoy!
Lonely
Roy and I entered a very fancy building after the car stopped. It looked like an opera house or a palace. It was elegant on the outside but, on the inside, it was stunning! High ivory ceilings lit with crystal chandeliers with detailed paintings covering the walls and polished hardwood floors with majestic carpets in gold and crimson.
“I've never been here before,” I said shyly as I held on the Roy's arm.
“This theater is famous for plays, ballets, and operas,” he says gently as we walk.
“What's being preformed tonight?” I asked as we started to head up a flight of stairs.
“A classic Shakespeare play,” he grins, “ `A Midsummer night's Dream' to be precise.”
I had somewhat heard of this play before but I couldn't remember the details for the life of me.
“What's it about?” I ask. We enter a private opera box labeled `number ten'.
“It's a comedy,” Roy explained, “About fairies who play jokes on each other and mortals.”
I almost start giggling right there. That was until I picked up the opera glasses he gave to me and looked down. Al and Winry were sitting in the house seats. I noticed that Al seemed to be ignoring Winry. She kept trying to get him to cuddle her and he kept moving away. If they break up, I'll be the one to blame. I cry as I watch them.
I watch Ed and I noticed that he wasn't watching the play but the people in the house seats. I picked up my opera glasses and looked in the same direction he was looking in. I fumed. He was looking at his idiot younger brother and his screech owl bride. However, I noticed that Al didn't like sitting beside her. I look over at Ed again and notice that he's crying.
“Hey,” I whisper as I touch his shoulder, “Forget about them. Just pretend they're not even there. This is a really funny play so have fun, Edward. Okay?”
He looks at me and whispers sadly, “Sorry, Roy. I'm just worried that if they break up, it'll be my fault. I just seem to ruin everything.”
“How about we go for dessert after the play,” I suggested, hoping that Ed would stop blaming himself for what's going on below. “And you haven't ruined a thing.”
“Okay,” he sadly smiles as we watch the play.
After the performance and as Ed and I were leaving, I heard…
“AL! COME BACK HERE!” Rockbell.
I look over at Al as he stomps out to the hall with his monster bride chasing after him.
“Winry,” he says through clenched teeth, “We WILL discuss what we did to my brother at home tonight or you can consider the engagement off!”
“Alphonse,” Rockbell wines, “Why do we have to talk about Ed for? He's a loser!”
I decided to get Edward out of here before they saw us and started to yell at him! We were almost at the door when I heard, “Further!”
Damn! I turned around and saw Al. Rockbell was lost in the crowd because I could hear her scream his name. Thank God I kept Ed's back to Al. I didn't want Al to take Ed away.
“Yes,” I reply angrily. I'm still mad at you for how you treated Ed like a dishrag.
“If you see my brother tonight? Could you please tell him that I'm sorry for hurting him,” Al says sadly, “That I never meant to hurt him in anyway. I was only angry that he chose to stay a State Alchemist because I was afraid that I was going to lose him but, because I was too cowardly, I lost him anyway.”
“Why didn't you stop your cow when she started to hurt Ed?” I asked, “Why wasn't he allowed to move out?”
“Winry said we needed him for the money he gets,” Al said as he hung his head, “For the wedding and our future.”
“Rockbell is an automail engineer and you're a strong alchemist,” I snarl, “You two didn't have an excuse in the world for what you did to Edward!”
“Believe me when I say this, Further,” said Al as he raised his head, “Ed was the last person in the world I would ever want to hurt. I love my older brother yet; I treated him like garbage. Winry and I will talk about what we did to him. Please tell him for me, that I regret everything and that I still love him.” Al's eyes held the same regret that they did when I took Ed home with me.
“I already heard you, Al,” says Ed as he turns to face his shocked brother.
I was pretty stunned myself. My Fullmetal angel has more inner strength than I thought.
Thank you Roy but I'll take it from here. I look at both Roy and Al, who both looked equally shocked, as I ask, “Al, this is something I need to know, what did I do to make you hate me so much?”
“You didn't do anything, Brother,” says Al sadly, “Everything that happened is my fault. I took advantage of you and let you get hurt in horrible ways. I'm so sorry, Ed.”
“ALPHONSE!” Winry screams.
“You two better run before she sees you!” Al urged us, “Good bye, Brother.”
“Bye, Al,” I said as he left. We walked out minutes later.
TBC! Guess what? I'm going to be updating this fic twice a week until after Christmas because some of the later chappies have holiday themes! Ja ne!
