Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Undercover but with what? ❯ way too early for his liking ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
I've decided to re-write this story a little, or revise it or whatever you want to call it because I have major writers block and it isnt going away. So I'm hoping this will help. The story has changed a little, well a lot...but I hope for the better!
Disclaimer: I in no way own FullMetal Alchemist, though I do own the current Fuhrer, Javob.
Warnings: Um...well, this is yaoi! There's nothing overly graphic in the first kind of chapters, but there will be, so be warned!
Im thinking of lengthening the chapters with this change but taking out a lot of Roy/Ed juicy bits so I can build their relationship up nicely...I hope you readers like the new change! Or for those who haven't read it forget this and just enjoy:D
Happy Reading!
Chapter 1: Far too early for his liking!
Bang, Bang, Bang.
A small blonde haired head briefly unstuck itself from its pillow and promptly flopped back down, the head almost dissapearing from sight amongst the cool softness of it. He was secure in the knowledge that his brother would get the door.
Bang, Bang, Bang.
The head popped up again, barely opening his eyes, gold peeping through. Who the hell was that? Where was Al? His head dissapeared again.
Bang, Bang, Bang.
"Open up FullMetal!" a voice filtered through the air. FullMetal Alchemist Edward Elric groaned and buried his head further into his pillow. He should have known. It was the Colonel. Couldn't he knock like a normal person? And what was he doing here in the first place?
"Al," Ed whined. Why wasn't he answering the door? Then it came back to his hazy, sleep filled brain. Al was in Risembool with Winry and their teacher, Izumi. Al had been getting more and more worried that he was losing his memories that Ed had suggested he return to Risembool for a break. Al had refused until Ed had paired it with a lead they had gotten. Ed had decided to stay in Central to give Al some time alone. (Using the excuse there were some books in Central's Library that needed his immediate attention). It had been three weeks since then. Even though he knew they both needed this, Ed really missed him.
Suddenly he heard strange jingling and then his door was unlocked and opened. Ed quickly sat up angrily, his eyes still sleep filled. He moved his hands to rub his eyes so he could see properly. Mustang had some nerve! Ed turned towards the front door and found Mustang leaning against the doorframe with a grin on his face. He seemed to be enjoying himself.
"You can't do that!" Ed objected angrilly, standing quickly to face Roy. Only when the cold air blasted against his chest did he remember he was only wearing his boxers. Mustang looked him up and down as he stepped inside and shut the door with the heel of his foot. Ed was mildly glad that he had forgotten to take out his braid before dropping into bed the night before.
"I just did. Why are you still sleeping?" Mustang asked, his eyes locking with Edward's as they came up to his face. Ed blushed and then cursed himself for being so obvious, and stupid!
"It has something to do with it being 7am on a Saturday morning you moron!" Ed snapped, partly from anger and partly from shame at his reaction to Mustangs gaze. Then he noticed the Colonel was wearing his military uniform.
"Going somewhere? The doors there"
"Get dressed Ed. Where's your dining room?" Mustang said with a slightly bored look on his face.
"Dining room? Pu-lease. The only thing that aint connected in this place is the bathroom. Notice the table there? Cupboard, bench? Lounge chair and...Hey wait a sec! What do you mean get dressed!? GET OUT!"
Mustang sighed and then put the large brown paper bag Ed had failed to notice in his anger onto the small dining table next to the small - medium-ish - sized fridge.
"For once can you not argue with me? I don't make it a hobby - much as you'd like to believe - to wake my subordinates up at 7 in the morning on a Saturday...at least not in uniform. Just get dressed"
That was when Ed noticed that Mustang looked hassled. Rolling his eyes he went over to a chest of drawers in the far corner and began pulling out some clothes. Black pants, black top...Mustang was seriously considering taking the kid shopping for a new wardrobe...something with a little color maybe? (Except for that hidious red jacket he sometimes wore - oh wait, there it is).
"You couldn't have found anyone else to pick on?" Ed asked.
"Believe me, I wish I could," Roy muttered. Ed glanced at him with a curious look before going into a new room Roy assumed was the bathroom. After a few moments Roy heard the shower turn on and he stared at the door in disbelief. Then his face coiled into anger. He didnt remember telling Edward to take a shower! He didn't need this crap right now! He just wanted to get this meeting over and done with. Fighting with Ed was always a nice rush but he'd prefer it be about something else, anything else. He charged towards the door and swung it open, a little suprised it was unlocked.
Ed turned at the sound and his jaw dropped. What the hell did Mustang think he was doing? Mustang gulped as he looked at a naked, wet Edward Elric. He'd never seen Ed with his hair down. And he really liked it.
Then Ed came to his senses and hurried out of the shower to grab a towel.
"WHAT THE HELL YOU BASTARD!? ARE YOU SOME KIND OF PERVERT!? GET OUT!"
Mustang raised an eyebrow because Ed was blushing a rather dark shade of red.
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!? GET OUT YOU STUPID FUCK!"
Mustang smirked and stepped closer. Ed narrowed his eyes. What the hell was Mustang doing?
Mustang was wondering the same thing as he advanced on the small blonde.
"You know Ed, that free-spirited wet look you've got there is really turning me on. You look sexy!" Mustang whispered seductively. Ed stared at him wide-eyed. If his brain had been fuctioning he would have pinched himself to see if this was a dream.
"Uh...," Ed tried to form a sentence and failed. Mustang stepped closer, bringing them excruciatingly close. Ed knew he should have stepped back, it wasn't like he was pressed against a wall or anything but it seemed like his legs wanted this as much as the rest of his body did. His mind was screaming that this wasn't what he wanted but his body didnt seem to care and his body was in control. Mustang leaned down, the distance between their lips slowly closing...
"Edward! Get out of that shower right now!" Mustang yelled as he threw a towel at the blonde. Ed started and stared at him. Had he just spaced with a fantasy about his superior officer? He shook his head. No way, trick of the mind. He hated the bastard. The towel got Ed in the stomach and slid to the floor without him even attempting to grab it. Mustangs eyebrows creased.
"Ed, what's wrong with you? Are you deaf?"
Edward glared at Mustang before grabbing the now wet towel and wrapping it around his slim waist. Unbeknownst to him Roy had gotten quite a good look at the alchemist prodigy before he had covered up. Ed was way out of bounds, for so many different reasons, but Roy had to admit, he had a body anyone would yearn for.
"What are you doing in here? Get out you pervert. Do you always watch your subordinates shower in the mornings?"
Mustang scowled, remembering why he had barged in on FullMetal.
"I don't have time for this Edward, dry yourself off and get dressed, understand me?"
"No, I don't you egotistical - "
"I'll make it an order if I have to just hurry up!" Mustang barked out.
Ed sighed angrilly and slammed the door in Roy's face. Mustang's scowl deepened. But instead of charging back in and toasting the disrespectful young teen he backed up and went and sat on Ed's bed. He glanced at it. It was all rumpled in a way that made Mustang wonder whether Ed had had a restless sleep. The pillow had a small dent in it from Edward's head. Roy looked over at the bed that the younger Elric usually occupied. It was neatly made and looked like it hadnt been touched for a while. Which, Roy remembered, was true. Al had been gone for three weeks. Mustang wondered how Ed was coping, knowing that it was Al that was the responsible one. That is was Al that looked after Ed, not the other way round. Roy sighed, was business was it of his anyway? As long as Ed showed up at work on time and with the necessary reports and such it didnt matter what was happening in Ed's personal life.
He stood up and walked over to the cupboards above the benches and set the table with glasses, knives and plates. Looking into the fridge he stared, slack-jawed at the lack of food or anything in it. Rolling his eyes, deciding to add food shopping onto the clothes shopping he took out the butter, thankful that there even was any. He took out the grilled sandwiches and chocolate chip muffins and set them on the plates. He filled the glasses with water since there wasn't anything else to drink. For some reason there wasnt even any milk...what exactly did the older Elric eat and drink? Sure, he had enough money to always eat out but...how the hell did he keep a figure like that with take-out food for breakfast, lunch and tea? Didn't he know what a healthy home-cooked meal was?
When Ed walked out of the bathroom, his hair braided tightly, Roy was lounging on the couch, waiting.
"You're still here?" Ed asked.
"Sorry to dissapoint FullMetal," Roy said as he stood up.
"Who said I was dissapointed?" Ed muttered as he watched Mustang stretch. But Mustang hadnt heard him, because of the buzzing one gets in their ears whilst stretching. Ed looked over to the table and his eyebrows rose in suprise.
"What the hell is that!?"
"Well gee Ed, it looks like food to me," Mustang replied.
"I know that! Why?"
Mustang smirked, the look on Ed's face. That suprised, curious, confused look. Still such a child, even through everything that he had been through. Mustang went and sat at the table.
"I haven't had any breakfast and since I woke you up it's obvious you haven't had any either. The sandwiches might be a little cold but I'm sure we'll survive"
Ed still didn't move, now eyeing the food with suspicion. He looked as though he thought either the food or Roy was going to attack him. Mustang laughed and Ed's facial expression changed dramatically to suprised wonder. He'd never heard Mustang laugh before...it was a nice sound.
"Come on Ed, I didn't poison it"
Grumbling something that sounded like 'bastard colonel...damn laugh...stupid superior' Ed sat down at the table. Only then did Mustang begin eating.
----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------
Having told a lie about not having had breakfast Mustang only managed to eat the grilled sandwich. Bacon and eggs was a quick way to fill you up and that's exactly what Mustang had had, as he was actually an early riser. Except for Sundays of course. Ed managed to eat his sandwich, his muffin and was now eating Mustangs muffin. Mustang leaned back in his chair, strangely sated. Content. He really didnt want to think about why.
"Wow Ed, you've got a big appetite for such a small guy"
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SMALL A MUFFIN WOULD BE TOO BIG TO EAT!?"
Mustang just laughed as Ed glared at him. Then he shook his head and went back to eating, deciding it wasnt worth it this early in the morning. When he was finished eating they just sat there in a comfortable silence, each of them lost in their own thoughts. Finally Ed sighed and Mustang looked over at him.
"All right, I'm curious, what do you want? And this better be good," Ed said.
Now it was Mustangs turn to sigh. He stood up and walked over to the window.
"We're dogs of the military right Ed? To serve we must distance ourselves from emotional attatchment," Roy said quietly. Ed looked at him curiously.
"I've never thought about it that way, but sure, go on"
Mustang turned to face Ed.
"For the mission we have been ordered to conduct, we have to create one"
Ed's face held confusion until Mustang explained the mission they had been ordered to conduct. Now he was staring at Roy with a horrific expression. No fucking way...
For some people this chapter will be a cliff-hanger, for those who have read my first version, I guess it won't be. But for those who like suprises don't go and read it. It's only really still up for those who have already read it. I'm not sure how often people check their emails so I'm keeping it up until I have reached the same place on this as it was on that. Anyway, I hope you've liked the new and improved first chapter! I really enjoyed writing it. I left out the mission details this time because it didnt really fit and for those whose first time it is reading this, I'll keep you wondering for a little while. No peeking k? I really love hearing feeback so feel free to review! I would really appreciate it...otherwise looks down and points toe towards floor and shifts it back and forth daintilly I may not find the inspiration to continue. Lol, jk. But blackmail works wonders doesnt it?
I know that in the series, around chapter 18 and stuff, that the room Ed and Al occupy is huge but I wanted them to have a small cramped space, and to have a small little kitchen, dining, lounger and sleeping area; of course, not too small:D Yeah, Im strange.
And with Mustang hurrying Ed up and then slowly eating breakfast before explaining? Mustang just wanted to be the one in control, lol. Does that make sense? He always seemed to me like someone who liked to be in control.
For those who havent read this before I tend to randomnly switch between Roy's first and last name (Mustang and Roy)...sorry about that, I guess I just do it all the time. I hope it isnt too confusing. As you'll notice I also switch between Ed and Edward and you'll figure out I do it with Maes as well (Maes and Hughes) later on.
Anyway, sorry about the long authors note. I just needed to explain all that. R and R please! Feedback is always good:D
