Sunrise Reminiscing
.Chapter 3. Roommates
By: Gator Ri
Hearing the door open I frowned, "What do ya want?" I grunted as I hooked the last three RCA plugs into the back of the VCR.
"What I want is my room clean," came a very cold voice.
I cringed and then blinked that voice sounded familiar. Standing up I turned around and faced the boy from the bookstore. I gape at him my eyes blinking as I looked at his shocked face, which quickly turned to one of neutrality.
"Um…well," I sputtered as I looked at my mess, "I'm workin' on it."
His eyes, which were a beautiful color of chocolate, narrowed and darkened, "Well, then as long as it is done and kept clean," there was a note of disdain in his voice.
I could tell he didn't like me from his tone and the fact that he hadn't moved from the open door.
Trying to not let my anger at the other boy rise, I stepped forward and offered my hand, in a friendly manner, "I'm Tasuki by the way."
He looked at my hand a frown on his face. Finally he gingerly took it, "I'm Chichiri," he then let my hand go and closed the door.
Turning away from him I moved back into the room and picked up my pile of CDs, which I shoved onto the shelves above my desk.
As I moved around the room picking up my clothes and stuffing them either into my dresser or closet, I could feel his eyes following my every move. I scowled, I didn't like this scrutiny, it made me feel like a bug under a microscope.
Finally I turned to him, he was still just standing inside the door, giving him a glare, "What the fuck! Can' ya do somethin' besides watch me!?"
He kept his face unreadable, "It's kind of hard to get across the room when there is no place to step," he said coolly.
I growled at him as I swept my blankets off the floor and threw them on the top bunk.
"There now ya happy?"
He shrugged at me as he moved across the room to his desk where he sat down and turned on his laptop, ignoring me.
I angrily climbed up to my bunk and started to try and make sense of my blankets when his voice floated up to me, "Don't be using such disrespectful language in this room. I will not tolerate it."
"Damn! Who died and made you king?" I all but shouted at him, no very pissed off, all hopes of ever trying to be his friend flying out the window.
He turned in his chair and glared at me, "No one but I am the third year and you are a first year therefore I have the authority."
I gave him an eat shit and die look, which unfazed him, this just angered me all the more. Jumping off my bunk I stormed out of room. 'I hate him!' was my thought as the door slammed shut behind me.

As the door slammed shut I gave a sigh of angered relief, glad to have the little maggot gone. I normally had a lot of patience but he didn't deserve it. He was an irritating, rude, and untidy pig. He was the last thing that I needed in my life. I live in order and cleanliness while he lived in chaos and mess.
I sighed in an aggravated manner, I would give him the next few days to straighten up and then I would ask that he be moved. I didn't need him to distract me from my studies. I had to have good grades and besides I didn't want to see what type of people that he would pick up as friends either.
Finally shoving Tasuki out of my mind I turned back to my laptop to finish the email to my family.

I don't know how long I spent stomping and cursing around campus but I knew it had been a long time, for the moon was shining brightly, as I finally went back to the dormitory.
Reaching the door to the room I turned the knob to find it locked. Cursing softly I searched my pockets and cursed more, I had left my keys in the room in my angry dash out.
I angrily ran a hand through my hair as I paced in front of the door, trying to figure out what to do. I should probably just knock but I really didn't want to see the look on Chichiri's face when he opened the door.
After a few more moments of pacing I finally decided that, that was about my only option that I had, at least this way I wouldn't wake up the RA too.
My mouth was set in a deep frown as I knocked as quietly as I could on the door. Then stilling my motions I held my breath to listen. I could hear him getting out of bed and come to the door. There was the click of the dead bolt and then the door opened.
I looked at him sheepishly as he glowered at me, standing there in a pair of sweatpants, "I fergot my keys."
"I see," although his voice sounded sleepy I could still hear the chilliness.
"Um…sorry," I said as he stepped aside and let me in. It was then that I noticed, through the light of the moon that came in through the blinds, that he had a very nice looking…I shook my head at this, reminding myself that I hated him.
I heard the door shut behind me as I dug through my dresser drawers for a clean pair of boxers.
Finding a pair, I turned to see him sitting on his bed a frown on his face and a far away look about him. Then sensing my eyes on him he glared at me, "Don't let that happened again. I don't appreciate being woke up in the middle of the night."
"Sorry," I mumbled as I turned and walked into the bathroom. It wasn't until I had closed the door that I realized it really shouldn't have been my job to apologize to the uptight bastard. He was after all as much at fault as I.
Shedding my clothes I pulled on the clean boxers and went back into the room to see my roommate already on his way back to sleep. I stopped a moment, looking at him in the moonlight that came through the blinded windows, he looked rather handsome and friendly.
"Go to bed."
I jumped at the sound of his voice, "I was jus' lettin' my eyes adjust," I muttered as I climbed into my top bunk of messed up blankets. This was going to be a long year.
