Chapter 11: Embracing Bracelet

Hikari stared at Sanzo a while. He hasn't said a word for at least the past 10 minutes. Maybe he's a little shy...she thought. Sanzo was bored.

"So, Sanzo, what's it like to be in love?"

"Is that why we're here?"

Hikari stepped back as if something bit her.

"I'm trying my best to make a conversation with you. I want to know more about you."

Her voice sounded hurt. Sanzo took a good look at the girl and replied with a sigh,

"Sorry. I had too much to think lately."

"Is it about Shyirin?" She asked.

Sanzo kept silent. Yes, his mind was aroused with questions of Shyirin and the future. So what about the future? He won't know. It's in the hands of God and God alone controls your fate. But what if you could change the Will of God? Is it possible? Sanzo lit his cigarette. Hikari asked out,

"If Shyirin didn't appear in this world, would you have fallen in love?"

Sanzo exhaled.

"No."

Hikari took a step back. Sanzo looked at the sky. He hoped that his journey had broadened his horizons. It did, as a matter of fact, but it didn't change his attitude at all. Shyirin… Shyirin… Shyirin… What if she never came back? What if she had another for a lover? What if? What if? What if? That was the only thing ringing in Sanzo's mind. He closed his eyes, hoping of a glimpse of her. Then, he felt something touching his lips. It entered his mouth and he returned it back. But the strange thing was… it didn't felt like Shyirin… He opened his eyes and, he was face to face to Hikari.

He turned surprised. But what was strange that there was a girl, no bigger than Hikari behind her under a veiled hat with a staff in her hand, dressed like a traveling priestess. She only had a thin yellow kimono on her and you can see a white color dress inside. The priestess was crying, you can't hear her but he could see teardrops. That was weird but Sanzo felt as if he knew this priestess from a long time ago. He pushed Hikari away and walked towards the priestess. His heart raced and each step his heart throbbed with pain. He lifted her face and his face turned pale. The sapphire ring around her neck glowed.

It was Shyirin.

"You liar!"

She screamed and placed a hard blow to Sanzo's face.

"I hate you, I hate you, I HATE YOU!!!" she cried.

Sanzo touched his left cheek. The pain was stinging. Shyirin turned away and ran off. She wanted to get out of here, get away from this manor, this scene, and most of all, him.

Hakkai saw a yellow priestess crying with her face veiled. She ran into him and fell down. She continued sobbing. Hakkai bent down and wanted to know who this yellow priestess was but she hid her face. She choked out,

"Tell me, how you would feel if someone who you really loved promised you he will never leave you for another and you found out he cheated on you and now, you feel like killing yourself?" Hakkai unveiled the girl.

"Shyirin? How? Most importantly, when did you return?"

"I returned back here to slay the Godhuntress but I found out something else."

She wiped her eyes and said,

"I mustn't stay. It only breaks my heart more."

She got up and replied, "I'm sorry. Please find somewhere in your heart to forgive me."

She then kicked Hakkai in his stomach and ran off. Hakkai cried out in pain. He knew she didn't do it on purpose. She did it to prevent him from stopping her. Hakkai got up after the pain was gone.

"Shyirin…what had made you do this?" he thought. He gazed at her direction as she ran.

Gojyo walked slowly and saw a yellow thing running towards him. He stopped her and grabbed her.

"Where are you running off to, young one?"

The yellow priestess fell down to her knees, feeling guilty.

"You are the only one I can talk to now, Brother Gojyo."

The voice was familiar.

"Shyirin? You returned already? But how?" he asked.

Shyirin got up and replied,

"Now is not the time to talk about that. I want to tell you so much but I-"

Shyirin suddenly felt light and the next thing she knew, she saw the pitch darkness. Gojyo lifted the girl into his arms.

"Poor girl… It must've been really hard on her…"

Sanzo turned to Hikari.

"How did she appear?"

"Shyirin was here a long time ago, looking for the Godhuntress. She was with Kanzeon Bosatsu last night. I thought she would return a bit late…"

Sanzo slapped his head hard.

"DAMN!"

Shyirin was here all along. How is he going to explain to the poor girl? Hakkai walked in.

"She was here…"

"I know…"

"What did you do to her to make her like that?"

"My mind slipped off… and this girl here…"he replied.

Hikari looked guilty. "I'm… sorry,"

"YOU SHOULD BE DAMN RIGHT ABOUT IT!!!"

"I was only proving myself. I am in love with you, Sanzo… I really do," she choked.

Sanzo frowned.

Ying Hui blurted in, "I have no business to butt in but Hikari, what have you done?"

Gojyo arrived.

"I-" he saw Ying Hui there and he paused.

"Well, Shyirin just passed out and now, she's in the guest room.

Goku, Li Shi and Mei Shi are busy taking care of her… but I advise you…"

he held Sanzo,

".. You should leave her alone now, Sanzo. You've caused enough misery for today…"

He turned his back and walked back towards the Guest Room.

The scenery was blurry. The sound of lively birds chirping outside filled the room. There were whispers around the room. Shyirin got up and looked around. Her hat was gone and she was in her white dress. Her yellow kimono-like robe was placed aside, her staff in the other, her twin golden Desert Eagles that hung around her waist was now hanging on the chair, her daggered fan, her lightweight whip which looked like a ribbon, her small crystal dagger were all on the table. She put her hand on her chest. She felt the necklace around her neck. She thought of Sanzo and removed the necklace from her neck.

"Some kind of promise, huh?"

She threw the necklace down on the floor. Goku, Li Shi and Mei Shi looked at her.

"You sure are loaded."

Goku said as he fingered with her guns. Li Shi took a closer look at the ribbon-like whip.

"Where'd you get all this stuff is still a mystery to me."

"I agree."

Mei Shi replied as she checked Shyirin's temperature.

"If you excuse me, I would like my things back again."

"What for?"

"They're for my mission."

Li Shi kept the whip and asked,

"So, you didn't come back here to see Sanzo."

Shyirin bit her lip.

"He had nothing to do the mission. If I didn't love him, I would have shot him dead."

Li Shi and Mei Shi looked at each other and both of them nodded.

"What if we told you that he was still in love with you and that kiss was actually Hikari's intention?" Shyirin shot back a look.

"Excuse me."

She got out of the bed and robed herself with her weapons. She tied her hair into a bun and slipped the ruby small hairpin with dangling ruby butterflies into her hair.

"Where are my shoes?"

"Outside."

She walked and opened the door. Sanzo was outside. Instinctively, Shyirin took out both of her Desert Eagles and placed both of them right before his head.

"Get out of my way… NOW!" she shouted.

"And what if I don't?" Sanzo threatened back and placed his gun on Shyirin's forehead.

Shyirin jumped back and unrobed her kimono and all.

"I didn't know that she wore a something else shorter than the dress inside!" Li Shi cried.

Shyirin was wearing a white barebacked sleeveless shirt and a tight black leather short skirt inside.

"No more Miss Nice Down-To-Earth Shyirin!" she cried and fired a shot at Sanzo's shoulder.

As Sanzo fell to the ground, she made her escape and ran out of there.

"Shyirin's getting a little better now." Hakkai commented.

Sanzo weakened, got up steadily.

Li Shi took out the thing that was stuck in Sanzo's robe.

"It's no bullet, that's for sure. It's her necklace. The problem is, how did a thing like this made a huge impact and made you fall? Unless of course, she had some third party to handle it." Li Shi explained.

"Her God powers," Mei Shi replied.

Li Shi placed the necklace in Sanzo's hands.

"Go and make the best out of everything but please, as a friendly advice, be gentle with her feelings because girls' feelings are very delicate."

She rolled her eyes at Gojyo and continued her sentence, "I hope my advice had been useful to you." Sanzo looked in his palm.

`The ring brings a lot of memories…'

"I'm not going after her."

"What?!" the rest cried out in disbelief.

Sanzo folded his arms and walked away.

"I'm going for a walk… Get some new cigarettes…"

"But we bought some yesterday!" Goku cried out in disbelief.

Sanzo replied sternly, "Shut up. The only cigarette brands left are Gojyo's. I only smoke my favorite."

Sanzo walked off into the sunset.

Hakkai smiled and whispered, "Here he goes again."
