Shuichi felt like he was on the top of the world, and no one could knock him off.

He took the drink Hiro offered, holding it up as Hiro declared another toast, then tipping it back and drinking. They had been celebrating their success all night, more so than they normally would, since the bill was being paid by the company. Shuichi was already moving past tipsy, but he knew he was likely to be completely drunk before long. He laughed, screeching in surprise and glee as Hiro grabbed him around his waist and hoisted him onto Hiro's shoulders. He wobbled, but held his place, raising his arms in the air and throwing his head back in glee.

A moment later, Hiro was putting him down as Ryuichi arrived to join in the party, bringing yet another drink for Shuichi. Shuichi sipped at it, his eyes automatically scanning the room, wondering where Yuki had gone off to. He had come over to congratulate them earlier, but had disappeared just a moment ago. He was distracted from his musings as Jason Nikigawa arrived to congratulate them. Shuichi briefly felt awkward before a small jolt of something went through him at a small touch from the other man's hand against the small of his back. He glanced up in surprise to find Jason looking at him, that same look in his eyes that he'd seen on the night of the party, the same look he'd seen in Yuki's eyes when he wanted sex.

As Jason's hand drifted across Shuichi's back and fell to brush across the back of his hand, Shuichi smiled back, vaguely noting Hiro sliding away from the group. He suddenly felt empowered as he realized that he really wasn't attached anymore. He was free to do what he wanted, who he wanted, when he wanted. He couldn't deny that Jason was attractive. He was tall, athletic, his dark hair pulled back into a small tail at the nape of his neck, and his dark eyes were so different from either Yuki or Tohma's. Maybe he was ready to move on now, and from the look he had seen in Jason's eyes, he thought the man was still interested. As they made small talk with Suguru and one of the few reporters who had managed to squeeze into the event, he leaned slightly against Jason, not enough for anyone else to comment, but just enough for him to realize that Shuichi was returning his interest.

Once the reporter had drifted away, after realizing she wasn't going to get a lucky break from the slightly inebriated rock stars, Shuichi felt a hand back on the small of his back, pushing him gently toward the elevators. Glancing around quickly, Shuichi followed Jason's lead, satisfied that neither Hiro or Suguru was observing his exit. He missed the sharp-eyed look sent his direction from one Sakuma Ryuichi, however, as well as the way the man made a bounding bee-line for Tohma as soon as the elevator doors closed behind Shuichi and Jason.

They rode up in the elevator silently, Jason's hand a constant, warm presence at Shuichi's back, fingers drawing small, enticing patterns over his silk shirt. Shuichi managed to keep his expression clear, holding on to a slight smile that was just small enough to avoid betraying how nervous he suddenly was. When the elevator finally slid to a smooth stop and the bell gave its small warning, he followed Jason as the man walked down the long hallway to a suite paid for by the company. Inside, he walked toward the windows, taking in the view of Tokyo Bay in the distance as he heard soft rustling sounds behind him. Soon he felt a warm hand at his back again, and another gently turning his head. He followed, allowing his gaze to break from the nightscape outside. Jason had removed the jacket he had been wearing and undone the cuffs of his shirt. Shuichi felt himself being pulled gently forward and brought up his hands to rest on Jason's chest, the fingers of one hand playing nervously with the button underneath them.

His eyes closed as Jason gently, softly brought their lips together. Jason's hands were warm on his back and his cheek, his lips were soft and full, teasing and stroking so softly Shuichi at first wondered if he was truly being kissed. As soon as he parted his lips slightly, Jason pressed his lips more firmly against Shuichi's, his hand moving against Shuichi's back until he had lifted his shirt enough to touch bare skin, warm from alcohol and the beginnings of arousal. Shuichi gasped softly, his back arching slightly as he felt the brush of warm skin against his and the gentle caress of a silky tongue against his lips. His fingers twitched, then clutched, finally beginning to slowly work at the line of buttons on Jason's chest.

Once the first few buttons had been undone, Shuichi slowly, tentatively parted the fabric, his fingertips brushing against smooth skin. He felt Jason's hands shift to his hips and gasped, the kiss breaking as he was gently lifted, his hips pressed more firmly against Jason's, the movement as the other walked to the bed rubbing their hips together sensually. The contact was broken as Shuichi was lowered onto the bed. He scooted back toward the headboard as Jason placed a knee on the bed and started to crawl toward him.

The harsh ringing of a telephone broke the silence in the room, making Shuichi start and Jason sigh. They looked at each other, Jason with a questioning look, Shuichi with a calm smile as he calmly told him to answer it. Jason stood and walked across the room to his jacket, removing a cell phone from the pocket. He glanced at the caller ID, then answered the call, speaking calmly and easily. Shuichi lay back on the bed for a moment before sitting up and rising to look out the windows again. With the moment broken, he realized that he wasn't doing this for the right reasons, and it would be best to put a stop to it now, if he could. He stared out the window, his eyes searching the city, idly picking out different landmarks as he only listened enough to know if Jason was still on the phone or not. After a moment, he recognized the distinct sound of a flip-phone being snapped closed and then tossed on a tabletop. He turned, his arms hugging himself, eyes dark. Jason paused as he walked back to Shuichi before continuing. He came close enough to be able to reach out and brush his fingertips across Shuichi's cheek, but no closer.

"I'm sorry," Shuichi began, but Jason just dropped his hand, instead placing it in the pocket of his slacks and shook his head.

"Don't be. I hoped, but -- I never really expected I'd get even this far with you, after you left LA the way you did."

Shuichi reached out, but drew his hand back before he could touch the other man. He wanted to explain himself, but he just wasn't sure how to go about it. He sighed, then looked back to the view outside for a moment. "I guess I'll just be going, then. I'm sure you need to get some rest."

Jason shook his head, his expression firm. "I wouldn't be a gentleman if I just threw you out. You've been drinking tonight, and I suppose it should be my responsibility as part of the management of NG to make sure you stay safe. Take the bed, I have some work to do, anyway."

Shuichi shook his head vehemently. "Don't you need to rest? I'll stay of you want, but I insist on sleeping on the couch. Besides, I'm kind of used to it."

Jason chuckled, shaking his head. "Relax, Shuichi. I'm still operating on LA time, so it feels much earlier than it really is to me right now. Honestly, I probably wouldn't sleep even if you weren't here." He stepped closer to Shuichi, brushing his knuckles on Shuichi's cheek again before threading his fingers through the pink-streaked hair. "I insist you lie down and sleep. I'll do some work to get ready for my meeting with Seguchi tomorrow morning, then I'll try and get some rest on the couch."

Shuichi looked up, determined to argue for a moment, but then stopped and merely nodded. He had to admit he was tired, the near-frantic pace of the last few days catching up to him now that the adrenalin of winning and arousal was leaving his system. He yawned, covering the act with his hand and chuckling slightly, nodding as Jason merely smiled and pointed at the bed. He pulled back the bedspread and climbed between the sheets, finding himself becoming more and more sleepy with every passing moment. Before long, his breathing had evened out and he slept as Jason worked and watched over him.
