ML: All righty, here's chapter five.

 

Yzak: Let me guess, you had school?

 

ML: Yeah. Anyway, same disclaimer applies. I don't own GS, but I do own all original characters. Last time, while Kira was doing his thing guarding Lacus, Athrun's trying to survive a sticky situation! There. ROLL IT!

 

 

Chapter Five - Another Attempt!

 

As the whistle on the oncoming train sounded, Athrun struggled to get out before the train hit his car. But somehow, the car door wouldn't open. However, the train was a few minutes away! So, he kicked out the glass, got out of his car and ran as fast as his legs could carry him just as the train hit his car, destroying it. With debris flying everywhere, he called Kira.

 

Kira was in his room, in Lacus' mansion when the butler called his name. “Mr. Yamato, you've got a phone call.” Kira went downstairs, and answered the phone. “Kira here.”

 

“Hey, it's me.” Athrun said. “I've been ambushed.”

“WHAT?” Kira said. “What happened?”

 

“Someone tried to take me out by bumping me on the train tracks!” Athrun yelled.

 

“I'm on my way.” Kira replied, and went into Lacus' room. “Lacus, I'm going to be leaving for awhile.”

 

“What happened?” Lacus asked. Kira explained everything to her. “I better take you with me.” He waited while Lacus got changed, and as soon as they were both prepared, Lacus and Kira went to the crossing where Athrun was. It was the full nine yards there. Dearka was waiting there too, and he wasn't alone. His colleagues were with him, and he also had the man who tried to bump into Athrun into the tracks.

 

“I tried to talk to him, but he wouldn't respond.” Dearka said.

 

“Well, I doubt he'll be quiet long.” Athrun said. He then turned to the perpetrator, and took him away. While that was being done, Kira talked to Dearka.

 

“Where did you find this scumbag?” Kira asked.

 

“I found him near the crime scene.” Dearka answered. “When Athrun escaped, he ran for it, and some officers nabbed him.”

 

Kira said, “Well, Athrun's got some pretty persuasive methods of gaining information.”

 

“I'm afraid to ask.” Dearka replied.

 

Meanwhile, Athrun took out the perp to a field he knew, and turned on a wood chipper. He then asked, “Who are you working for?”

 

“It was just a job.” The perp, whose name was Aaron, said. Athrun just put his head closer to the guiding wheel. “OK! It was Livorno!”

 

“Thanks.” Athrun said. He then went back to the crime scene, perp restrained. He then flagged over Dearka and Kira. “It turns out that our guy here is working for Livorno.”

 

“Well then, I'll take him over to the station, you guys just worry about Lacus.” Dearka replied.

 

“Thanks.” Athrun said. They drove off after that. Kira and Lacus were dropped off, and Athrun went back home. Kira thought about what had happened. Other than Lacus and Athrun, he would be next! However, as he plopped down on the sofa in the sitting room, Lacus sat next to him.

 

“Whatcha thinking about, Kira-kun?” Lacus asked.

 

“Maybe you, maybe our relationship…” Kira answered. “I mean, I never thought I would see you again.”

 

“I wanna ask you something… am I just an assignment?” Lacus asked.

 

“No. Gods… you were a lot more… I mean, if I could have spent a lot more time, you wouldn't have cheated on me…” Kira began.

 

“Kira… I need somebody to protect me… somebody… like you…” Lacus said, as she leaned in close to Kira…
