Part 4: A losing battle

Meanwhile...

A stretcher came bursting through the corridors, carrying Amara's unconscious body. The paramedics rushed towards the emergency room, hoping it wasn't too late to save her life.

Trista, Michelle and Hotaru were admitted inside the waiting room. It was an absolute silence. The initial shock did not wear off. It was well known that Amara loved the high speed and was willing to take risks. She wisely took precautions during her racing. Her friends did not expect this day would come...

A young nurse came forward and expressed her deepest sympathy. "The doctors are doing everything in their capable hands to save your friends," She said sincerely. "Is there anything I can do?"

"I'm going to make a long distance phone call," Trista announced. "To let everyone back home know Amara's condition. Will you be alright while I'm gone?" She asked the others.

Michelle briefly nodded. "Go ahead, Trista. We'll managed."

"I'll be back," Trista leaned over and kissed Hotaru's forehead. "Everything is going to be fine, sweetie." She said softly, brushing a lock of Hotaru's hair. Hotaru's eyes were puffy from crying.

"I'll show you where the phone booth is located." The nurse said to Trista. "Please follow me, right this way."

"Michelle, I'm scared." Hotaru's voice quivered. She spoke after Trista had left them.

"Me too," Michelle said, reaching for Hotaru's hand. She clasped Hotaru's cold hands unto hers, warming them.

"Fight it Amara," Michelle said urgently. "Come back to me..."

"Billy, let go of my arm!" Amara hissed sharply at him. She tried to yank her arm away from him but he tightened his grip on her.

"Dammit, Amara!" Billy muttered. "Shut up!" He dragged her across the street where his Jaguar parked by the fire hydrant.

"Hold on! We can't leave an expensive car lying around!" Amara exclaimed. Her eyes lingered on the Porshe but she accidentally made an eye contact with an angry, pissed off Duo. His unforgiving eyes were cold and harsh.

"Can you forget about that fucking car?!" Billy shouted. "There are cops trailing after us!!" The police siren emitted loudly in the distance.

"Is it my problem?" Amara said sarcastically.

"I don't intend to spend my time behind bars," Billy said with a grim reply. He dug his hand deep inside his pockets and he pulled out a set of keys. "Get in," He said gruffly, unlocking the car door. Wordlessly, Amara went inside and fastened her seatbelt. Within minutes, the Jaguar sped off like a flash of lightning.

"Cowards," Duo said disgustedly, shaking his head completely. He kept watching until the green jaguar vanished from his view.

"Duo! Duo!" He could hear Hilde yelling out his name. His angry thoughts quickly vanished. He was smiling again, back to his old self. Hilde frantically rushed to his side. He felt touched by her kind, thoughtful concern.

"Duo, are you okay? Hilde asked him. There was a real fear in her eyes.

"No sweat at all!" Duo said arrogantly. "Everything's fine. Why are you worried? Nothing happen!" He waved a hand in the air.

Hilde didn't answer him but instead she punched him in the pit of his stomach. "You jackass!!" She screamed. "I came running all the way here and you had me worried!" She was furious now. "You promised that you won't do any more stupid stunts remember?" He dropped to the ground and moaned in pain.

"But Hilde..." Duo protested. Hilde ignored him and walked off leaving him alone by himself.

The Jaguar slowly drove through the iron gates inside a large mansion. The mansion stood on a cliff, overlooking a picturesque sandy beach. Only the rich and famous reside in this exclusive, private beach area. The huge, extensive estates were built along the coastline.

The Jaguar came to a full stop and parked in front of the house. Two people emerged out of the vehicle. It was Billy and Amara. They both were anxiously tired as they entered the house.

"If I ever see that guy again." Billy declared. "I'm going to disfigure his face permanently..." He vowed. " And I'm gonna pound that bastard to the ground." He clenched his fist.

"Whatever," Amara said. "Look, we're both tired and we're talking a bunch of nonsense. All I want is peace and quiet around here." She said reasonably.

"Are you defending that loser!?" Billy demanded. "Which side are you on, Amara?! It was HIS fault that we nearly got busted with the cops!" He reminded her.

Amara sighed. He was even more of a greater fool than she'd imagined. "I'm not taking sides with anyone." She said calmly, trying to lower her flaring temper. "Let's not argue about this anymore. I'm tired and I need a rest." She said restlessly. She ran up the staircase.

"SHIT!!" She heard him cursing loudly. Amara chuckled at his little outburst.

She arrived inside a master bedroom. She was plainly disgusted. //I'm sleeping with him?// It was a sickening thought. There were no other spare rooms in the house. Was she supposed to be his live-in girlfriend then?

"Where the hell are you Marina?" Amara wondered. She tossed herself against the soft mattress and closed her eyes. She instantly fell asleep...

After taking a restful nap, Amara was spending a quiet leisure bath. She was deep in her thoughts. Her old life, friends and a promising career as a professional racer.

The door suddenly creaked opened. Amara snapped out of her daydream. She didn't realized that she had left the door partially wide open. Billy came in, carrying two goblets and a red wine. He was wearing a bath robe.

"This IS a private moment." Amara emphasized her point.

"I was getting a little lonesome by myself." Billy said. "Do you mind some company?" He eyed her critically. She looked even gorgeous as ever. Seductive, powerful, dangerous... A bit of cynical... It didn't matter. She wasn't perfect. She was an ideal mate. All he wanted was to have her legs wrapped around his waist as he rocked her, crying his name out in ecstasy. He grinned wickedly, full of perverted thoughts in his mind.

Amara recognized the arousal in his eyes. //Dammit// This was getting out of hand. She shifted uncomfortably around the bathtub. "Get out!" She reached for the nearest object and hurled a shampoo bottle towards him.

"Okay, okay..." He simply surrendered and quietly retreated out of the bathroom.

//Asshole. I warned you before if you ever came near me again and you will never be alive, I swear// Amara's face darkened in rage.

To be continued...
