Warnings: Big crossover, a lot of self-insertions, and switching POV's, points anyway. Another side contest today! Wonder who has to perform it?

The Year Long Contest Chapter 6: Volcano Racing

"Good afternoon everyone, nice to see you had an all right time in class today, and to see the mascots in their wonderful costumes," Kita welcomed, as she smiled at the contestants, some of whom were laughing at said costumes. Looking about them, she made sure everyone was there, including all the staff members. After seeing that they were, she continued speaking with, "Today is your second challenge, which we've named, 'Volcano Racing!'"

"What do you mean volcano racing," Yusuke asked first.

"You don't necessarily mean that volcano behind you, right," Duo asked right after him.

"Yes, we do," Sesshoumaru answered for them. Everyone was shocked to say the least. Seeing everyone's uneasiness, Crystal stated, "Do not worry. If we find you are in any real danger, we will have Ember fly in and save you."

"Uh...yeah," the trainer responded, with a little relunctance in her voice.

"Besides, this contest is only for the mascots and back-ups to participate in," Candis said calmly.

"What?!? But why do the mascots have to do this," Kayori asked, scared of course.

"You are the finish line, and guarentee that the back-ups will complete the journey up there," Jin explained, receiving a few cold glares. Not that he was affected.

"Now before we send the mascots up there, let me explain the rules. There are cages we will place them in, and they are not allowed out until you get there and unlock the cage with keys that are hidden amongst the rocks of the volcano. Do not worry, this old girl is too old to erupt anymore, so this game shouldn't be too hard," Kita explained. Once done, she nodded to the security, and they picked up each of the mascots, carrying them upto the top of the volcano and into the cages. They then came back down in what seemed a matter of minutes.

"Let the game begin," Sesshoumaru announced, and off went the back-ups! Some were much faster than others. Vegeta for one flew about the volcano, looking for a key. Hiei flashed between rocks, searching for his own. Ryoko and Umbra doing about the same. This just left the poor mortals of Lita, Heero, and Sango to climb up the rocky thing.

"I can just imagine Duo saying, 'Looks like Heero is off to save his princess again.' Hmph, like she was ever mine in the first place," the Japanese boy said to himself, doing an impersonation of his American friend. He couldn't help but smirk at his joke, and soon stumbled upon a key with the number one on it. /This has to be it, / he thought, and putting it into his shorts, he continued to climb to the top.

As the game went on, Akira was going around asking, "Popcorn! Anyone want some popcorn?? Maybe some cotton candy instead?"

"I'll take some," several chorused. Smiling he went up, and gave both cotton candy and popcorn to those watching the event.

"Yay," Wachey said childishly, eating away at her cotton candy. It was gone within a minute. Raising her hand for another one, she turned to Abi who was eating hers sort of slow. Concerned she asked, "You don't like it?"

"Hm? Oh I do, I just tend to get really hyper after eating sugar. So I'm taking my time eating it," the sapphire-eyed girl replied. Nodding in understanding, the Hispanic girl started to eat a second cotton candy. Of course she'd move onto a third in a minute.

"Looks like Heero is off to save his princess again," Duo said eating some popcorn, and gesturing towards where the Japanese boy was on the mountain. He was pretty close to the top. Though he wondered if everybody would receive points for this, or just the first person to get back down on the ground.

Meanwhile, within the cages, Shippo was hanging on for dear life, as his feet were small enough to fall through the bars. Looking at the other mascots he asked, "Do you think we'll be okay? Will the volcano erupt???"

"No need to panic. They explained that this volcano is too old to do so," Relena replied, patting him on the head gently. Their cages were practically right next to each other, so it was quite easy to reach through one another's confines. Even with the searing heat below them, the former queen of the world, (GW wise), was perfectly calm and confident that Heero would get her out.

Sure enough, he did, and stated, "Get on my back, it'll be quicker if I carry you."

"Okay," she responded, and did as told. With that, they both started to go back down the volcano. This leaving Kayori to think, /Why can't I be her???? /

It was a couple of moments later that those sitting on the beach watching this whole thing could hear the Cox Rooster scream her lungs off! Then there was a loud 'ow' heard from Sasami, and they found that Ryoko had made it up there. Once down the violet haired girl started to cry, "It was horrible! She had me walk on those hot rocks! And some lava nearly splashed onto me!!"

"Aw, don't worry, you're safe now," Nenagh tried to comfort. Boy, being the nurse was becoming quite hard. Deciding to help, Abi asked for another bit of cotton candy, and presenting it to their mascot said, "Here, want some candy? It'll make you feel better."

"Thank you," the costumed girl replied, sniffing, but cheered right back up after just a few bites. Sasami had received a scratch from the rocks. Glaring at the space pirate, Aeka yelled, "How dare you hurt my sister!! Are you trying to hurt her in spite of me!?!"

"No! It was an accident," Ryoko tried to defend herself, but found it no use. Though she was thankful at least Tenchi believed her.

"Points shall be added to teams 1, 3, and 7 for now. When the others get down they will be rewarded, but they have until five today," Crystal stated, bandaging the little girl's wounds. Smiling, the blue-haired little girl got a lolli-pop for being a good patient.

"Well that's great, isn't it Wachey," Abi said happily, looking behind her, only she didn't find her leader. Looking to the two defenders of their group she asked, "Did you see where she went? Did she go to get more cotton candy?"

"She said she had to go to the bathroom," Shane explained, and tried to watch the game. Only he found himself distracted with the other girl in Inu Yasha's company. /What was her name again? I remember the girls saying her name was Kagome. Why does she stay so close to him? Does she have feelings for him? Why? /

The other boy, Matt, seemed to have a similar problem, only he knew Relena had feelings for Heero, and it sucked. It was an obvious the Japanese boy wasn't interested, so why did she hang around him all the time?? Girls, nothing but trouble!

It didn't take much longer for the other back-ups to retrieve those in the cages, the problem was just getting back down. Vegeta and Krillan merely flew back down, Lita and Rini had to run, Shippo turned into a floating balloon and got both he and Sango down safely, but poor Koenma. He was simply carried upside down on the way back, and Hiei went full speed too. Jumping onto every rock, not caring if his toddler sized boss got motion sickness.

"Hiei I really hate you," he stated upon arriving on the ground, and move around furiously. Smirking, the fire demon merely dropped him onto the sand, and stood beside Kurama. Everyone received points, and were then called to a meeting. On the way though, Candis stood next to Hiei and said, "Not very fond of authority I see."

Staring at her, he wondered why she was talking to him, then he glared slightly as she messed with his hair, and then proceeded to walk away with the other staff members back into the mansion.

"Where is your leader," Kikyo asked, noticing all but the Hispanic girl were present within the hut. Looking to one another, they shrugged, and Abi said, "She went to the bathroom, I think."

"How long ago was this," the priestess asked again.

"An hour ago, we think," Freya replied this time. Then again, she didn't quite remember when she was ever gone. For she was chatting with Yusuke during the whole bit. Sighing, the clay created woman ordered, "Go find her! We can't have a meeting without her."

"Yes you're royal bitchness," one of the girls muttered, but who Kikyo couldn't tell. When they were out, Vash couldn't help but notice them, and asked, "Hey, what are you doing?"

"We're looking for our leader, she's missing," Matt responded. This of course got his attention, and he responded with, "You want us to help you find her?"

"Nah, we're pretty sure we know where she is," the brown-eyed boy replied, and along with his fellow team mates, walked on into the mansion. Having the girls go into the public women's bathroom, they found no one to be in there. This left them with going up into the hotel rooms, only they didn't have a key to room eight.

"We need someone to get those who sleep in this room up here," Angel stated, becoming temporary leader, as she should. Looking at Shane, he didn't move from his spot leaning against the wall. This left poor Matthew as the target.

"Oh all right! Geesh, I always do the most work," he muttered to himself, walking all way back to the elevator, and back to the huts. Not wanting to walk any further, and remembering one of the gundam pilots slept in room eight, he stated, "Hey, which of you has a key to room eight? We need to see if our leader is in there."

"I do," Wufei replied, and got up from the bench he was sort of resting on. Returning to the others, they stood there and watched as the Asian boy opened up the door to room eight, and all then walked inside.

"Wachey, you in here," Angel asked, knocking on the door.

"Uh, yeah! I'm sorry if I worried you! I wasn't feeling to well, but I'm okay now! A visit to the bathroom is just what I needed," the hazel-eyed girl yelled through the door, laughing nervously. She then proceeded to hide what looked like a flashlight in one of the bathroom drawers. Sighing, she freshened up before exiting and smiling at her friends.

"Hey, Wufei, I don't remember you being on our team," she then stated, blushing slightly. He shrugged and walked off saying, "They needed me to open the door."

/Phew, hope he didn't notice my blush too much so. Good thing I at least got three, / she then thought privately to herself. So back at their huts, they listened as Kikyo explained, "Tomorrow is Saturday, our first movie night. Then next week you shall perform the swimming contests."

"They plan on having you train in class, and there is more than just simple swimming to this contest," Piccalo started to explain. Continuing, he then stated, "You are to race, dive, seek and find, and see how long you can hold your breath. The first one, which is on Monday, will be the seek and find."

"Then on Tuesday, you're going to do the diving," Jin said to the spirit detectives. Raising his hand, Kuwabara asked, "What's this seek and find?"

"Oh, well you see, they're going to drop some stuff at the bottom of the pool, for you to dive in and find. The one who finds the most wins. Any other questions before I finish explaining, yah?"

"Does each team member have to participate in all of these," Washu asked the dog-demon. Shaking his head, Sesshoumaru responded with, "Your leader is the one who chooses who does which contest. Based on their skills."

"Hm, I see," the red-headed scientist then stated. Within hut number one, Nikki was telling her group the rest of the schedual.

"Then Wednsday is going to be the one where you hold your breath under water, and last but not least, the swimming race is on Thursday! Leaving you guys the option of having the next minor contest Friday, or for the next week."

"How much longer do we have before it's too late to have the party," Sally asked, trying to figure out the whole schedual.

"Oh, well you still have to perform the strengths contest, but that can be done all in one day. Then you have just two more minor contests. They can all be performed next week, with enough time to have the party," the black-haired girl replied.

"Oh yeah! Do any of you have birthdays this month?? We've decided it would be extra fun to give you little rewards to those who are celebrating a birthday," Vash exclaimed, almost forgetting about it.

After their meetings, everyone left at seven to eat dinner, which that night was going to be steak with a side dish of either mash potatos and corn, or french fries.
