A Lover's Pain
Chapter Six
She felt the pull of the Earth's gravity pulling her, the feel of the wind and air pushing, tugging at her as she fell - only to suddenly experience the agonizing pain of crashing into to branches and jaggerd rocks.
Her body tumbled as she began to roll down the cliff. Branches flayed at her like whips repeatedly slicing into her skin. Not even her clothes withstood the torment as she heard the tear of cloth.
And still she did not stop. On she rolled as her body burned as if her skin had been dipped into acid. And while all this was happening Noin raged at the gods for not letting her die because she knew that death did not cause this much pain. She was not dying! Instead she was being tortured. God there was so much pain, unbelievable pain. She couldn't breathe and even then she knew - she knew that was she going to live though this.
And then it occurred to her that she had stopped moving. Everything was so still and silent. So eerily quiet that all she could hear was her wheezing and the taste of blood in her mouth.
She couldn't see anything and she realized nor could she feel anything. Her body was numb and she was blind. She could barely concentrate and she struggled to fight the blackness that was overwhelming her because she knew one thing for certain. She was not dead.
Damn you! She thought hatefully. God Damn you!
And the blackness consumed her.

Noin woke up abruptly and found herself in a white room - that could only be possible in a hospital and frowned - confused. Her mind not comprehending on how she could be here. And suddenly she was angry, so very angry with herself as she realized what had happened. A sob caught in her throat but she refused to let it free and stared blindly at the wall. My god how could she still be alive?
Why was she still alive?
A click echoed through the room and the door to her room opened.
Noin didn't bother turning already knowing who it would be. She didn't want to see the contempt on their faces or their pity. She was already ashamed of her actions as it was. It occurred to her not many people she knew tolerated weakness.
So she was surprised when the man who walked around the bed and into her view was not the Gundam Pilots or Une or Relena for that matter but. . .
"Mitchell?" Noin croaked incredulously past her dry lips.
He smiled sardonically flashing his perfect white teeth and pulled a chair close to her bed before sitting down, "You know when you didn't turn up with an answer, I thought you'd ditched me." He remarked amusedly, "Who'd have thought you'd go and kill yourself?" he asked chuckling.
Noin glared at him and he laughed out-right. "What? You think I care if you want to kill yourself or not? I just want an answer. And I have been waiting a month for an answer." He stated, "No one said I was a very patient man. So are you going to do it or not?" He asked abruptly.
Noin stared blankly at him - a month? She thought blankly for a moment before realizing that she didn't care. She was drained of her emotions and all she had left was her anger. What was another mission to her or for that matter another month? Her life meant little to her, why bother trying to avoid the danger of death when it was the very thing that she craved?
"Does anyone know?" she rasped staring passed him at the white blank wall as she thought of people she knew, reactions to her emotional breakdown.
He grinned and leaned back. "What? That you tried to kill yourself after you found out your boyfriend was marrying another woman?" he asked mockingly
Noin's eyes turned to him but her features showed nothing.
Mitchell didn't bother to wait for her answer. "Then no, I really don't want to have to deal with other people at the moment. You're my priority, until you tell me if you're going to do the mission or not."
And at that moment Noin realized that she felt nothing, she really didn't care.
"I'll do the mission." She whispered, closing her eyes. She was so tired - she somehow knew that she could never go back to what she once was. To her - Lucrezia Noin was already dead.
Mitchell watched her fall asleep, the amused visage he had shown her was gone replace by icy cold eyes that looked at her emptily. He understood what she was going through and really - he didn't care. All he wanted was someone willing to do the mission. And he knew she was willing. He pitied this creature of a woman. But then those who seek death always find it. And he somehow knew that she would find hers.

The next day Noin awoke to the sound of birds and blinked confusedly. How did she get here? Wasn't she supposed to be in a hospital? The room had a homey feel to it with its oak furniture and creamy coloring - it was anything but white and sterile.
"You were transferred here last night." A voice spoke quietly beside her.
Noin jerked and found her self, looking at a woman younger then her. The young woman's blond hair, pale skin and thinness gave her an air of delicacy.
Noin blinked at her blankly before asking. "Where am I?"
"You're in a private hospital, you're here to recuperate as well as get your body in good working order." The young woman replied.
"Is there something wrong with me?" Noin asked. She could be bed ridden for the rest of her life for all she cared but it would seem odd if she didn't ask.
The young woman smiled kindly. "You have been in a coma for a month you know? Your body needs exercise and then we need to prep you for your surgery."
"Surgery?" Noin asked confused she thought that she was getting better.
"Oh yes, plastic surgery you know? Your face was pretty messed up in your accident."
It was then that Noin realized her face was covered in bandages and she didn't bother to inform the girl that she had never gone through any accident of any kind.
"What's your name?" Noin asked hoping for some small talk so that she could get her mind off her situation.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" The young woman said her face flushing as she realized she hadn't introduced herself. "My name is Angie and I'm your nurse." Angie said smiling cheerfully as she did so.
"When do I go for surgery?"
"Oh not in a long while yet. We need your body to get over the shock and heal properly from the accident before we can start anything."
Noin nodded and closed her eyes, she was tired so very tired and Angie's sunny personality only made her feel even more depressed. As she drifted off to sleep, she felt a heavy feeling settle in her stomach. Was she going to survive this mission as well?
