Duo watched Heero as Heero practiced his shooting at the range.
'I love him, but I feel so guilty', Duo thought, his expression pained as he thought of Relena.
They had just found out about Relena's suicide, how she was so broken that she couldn't go on. What had made it really bad was that the little child, the son, Ryu, had watched his mother breakdown without her knowledge. Duo felt for the child, he would have problems as he grew up.

They knew their feelings for each other from the time they had been imprisoned together on the lunar base. Duo tried hard to deny it, for Hilde's sake, he wanted so badly to love her, but he couldn't. Hilde, sensing that she would never be able to take Heero's place, left him for Trowa. 'They're a very happy couple.', Duo mused.
Heero had better success, since he wasn't such a passionate person like Duo. He had been in love with Relena also, so he just went on his feelings for the girl. Heero married Relena, played the perfect husband, but it just wasn't that simple.

'It was like a bond, something that just pulls and pulls at us.', Duo thought as he kicked a stone. 'Heero and Relena never had it, but Heero and I did.', Duo thought to himself as he walked into the house.
Already, they were being roasted for their actions. The other pilots were acting neutral, but Duo knew that they were silently killing them for what they did. Zechs and Noin were busy handling the scandal with the press, as people were talking about the
cruel husband and the selfish lover.
'They just don't understand.', Duo told himself.

They didn't know how it was tearing him up inside, how it hurt to hurt a friend for love. How it hurt to know that she killed herself over this, to know that this could all have been averted. Yet, they could no longer hold back, it was threatening to tear them up inside. He knew it hurt Heero to leave Relena and his son, but what if he stayed?

To love is to experience the deepest feeling ever to experience. To deny love is to deny a part of yourself. They all knew the truth, Duo and Heero tried to deny it, Relena tried to live in her illusions. But when the truth had to be finally accepted, Duo and Heero felt released, but in doing so, they caused another problem. Relena couldn't handle it and committed suicide. Heero's son was now motherless, and his father wasn't sure if he could return, the backlash was overwhelming even for the Perfect Solider.

It would be evident to all that Heero did love Relena, but no one would ever know. Sensing Duo's thoughts, Heero said, "Relena's at peace now, it wouldn't help to be guilty.", Heero said, but he betrayed his true feelings as a slight tear fell down his face.
They left it like that, a symbol of what they truly felt for Relena.
