Calmaria* (Part 01)
“So… what do you think? Zechs is still a little insecure but I guess we'll manage…” Quatre said thoughtfully.
“I'm sure you will” Wufei agreed, taking a sip of his cold water and stretching lazily on the pool chair. “And if you have any trouble at all, you can take her to our place you know…”
Quatre lifted and eyebrow, surprised.
“Yes… I do like kids. It might not show… but I really like them…” Wufei explained.
“Well Chang… You surprise us every day” Heero said from behind the chair, only half mocking.
“Oh come on Heero, I think this is wonderful! Thank you Wufei… we appreciate it!” Quatre beamed.
“What is this fuss all about?” Trowa asked quietly, approaching his lover and resting a hand on his shoulder.
“Quate and Zechs are going to adopt a child” Wufei explained to his koi.
“Oh…” the boy smiled faintly, “Are they?”
“Trowa welcome! And yes! We've wanted… oh… I've wanted this for a while now but Zechs did not feel right about it… We've talked a lot and… when an opportunity came we grabbed it… this stuff takes time you know… we were lucky to find a child so fast…”
“What do you know about the child?” Duo asked curiously.
“Well… it's a girl, she's four… we didn't want a newborn… we're both man after all and none of us has any clue about how to take care of a small baby…”
Wufei laughed and Trowa nodded. “She was very lucky you know…” Duo said so just Wufei would hear, “Most parents look for newborns… they think older children will bring them too much trouble…”
Wufei lifted an eyebrow at him and the American grinned, “I'm an orphan you know… never got adopted… well not permanently at least… I was a brat and my foster parents kept sending me back to the orphanage…”
“A church orphanage…?” Wufei inquired, gluing some pieces of his friend's past together. Duo nodded and they got back to the conversation, “So, when is she arriving?” he asked.
“Next week… we, well I wanted her as soon as possible but the paperwork and documents involved took ages…”
Wufei nodded sympathetically at the same time Heero cleared his throat, “I'm sorry Quatre, but we have to get going… Rin's at her piano class and its my turn to pick her up…”
“Of course, well thank you for coming, Heero, Duo, see you next week ne?” They nodded and the blond stood to walk them inside and to the door, leaving Trowa and Wufei behind to help themselves.
Trowa made Wufei move his legs from the chair to sit closely beside him, then he looked at his boyfriend and smirked, “Quatre and Zechs are adopting a child?”
“Hmm…You seem amused koi, what seems to be the problem? They've been together for a long time, and technically they are married, so I see nothing wrong with wanting a child…”
“I didn't know you were found of children” Trowa pointed, questioning Wufei silently with his eyes.
The Chinese man smiled at his lover and kissed him deeply locking his arms behind his neck, “Yes I am… but I don't think I would like to have one of my own… they're nice to spoil but tough to raise… thanks for asking anyway…” He added as an afterthought and kissed Trowa again.
Trowa's hands traveled on Wufei's back and tugged playfully at his lover's swimming trunks, “So how was your day here on “richer then Richy Rich land”?”
Wufei chuckled, “Well it was nice… Quatre's good company you know… and I didn't have any attacks today. That makes a record of five days in a role… maybe I'm cured?” he whispered hopefully.
“Hardly” Trowa shook his head, “You've just started this new treatment, it's impossible you got better so fast…”. Wufei sighed.
“I'm sorry love… I didn't mean to upset you, but if you get all your hopes up maybe you'll be disappointed…”
“I know… It's just that… sometimes I get so tired of being weak…”
“This is not a weakness Wufei” Trowa said sternly, “It could have happened to any of us…”
“But it didn't!” Wufei spat desperately, “It didn't and it makes me feel weak… You know I can't help it! You know my pride! I wish sometimes I could just hold it back… but I can't and I feel less then any of you…”
“Wufei…” Trowa began to raise his voice but then relented, “Let's not argue…” he pleaded, “Not here… not again…”
Wufei took a deep breath and tried to calm down, “I'm sorry” he whispered, ashamed, “Me and my bad temper…”
“Shh... It's all right love. I don't want you to change. It's just that, sometimes, I get tired of trying to prove my point… I wish you would just believe me…”
“Funny…” The Chinese snickered, “Sometimes I wish just that from you too…”
“Well, we should try it then”
“Try what?”
“Try accepting each other's opinion without having to bite one's limb off to try and make a point…”
“Humm… that might be hard… we're so used to discussing after all…”
“Life is about challenges love. What do you say; are you up to it?” Trowa lifted an eyebrow.
Wufei nodded, “Yes… I am”
“Good! Now…” Trowa slipped his arms behind his lover's back and held him firmly against his chest. ”Being sick does not make you weak”
“But…”
“Shh… listen to me. It only reminds us that we're all human and that death is a possibility, even after the wars. That we're heroes but we're not gods. That life is here and it's passing, and we have to make the best of it before it's all over. That we have friends and that we can count on them to help us. But most of all, it reminds me that I love you… that your life is more precious to me than my own and that no matter what, I want to spend the rest of my days with you”
“Trowa…” Wufei held him tightly back and buried his face on his lover's neck.
“I have something for you” Trowa whispered. He reached for his pocket and Wufei drew back to see what it was. “I know we've been together for a while… and that in the begging we didn't even love each other… But I wanted to give you this…” He held a black velvet box in his hands and offered it to Wufei shyly.
The Chinese man's heart was racing when he opened the box. Trembling hands lifted a golden chain and from it hung a pendant and two rings. The pendant showed a fierce white dragon with one gleaming onix eye, the other one, covered with a half clown mask shone in emerald green.
Wufei lifted his eyes to look at his lover but Trowa was pointedly looking at his hands a deep red blush on his cheeks.
The rings were two plain golden bands, but after a closer inspection Wufei's eyes caught the delicate makings on the inside, one said “Dragon” and the other “Nanashi”.
“Trowa, I…” Wufei began but was cut of by his lover, “I'll understand if you don't want to wear them… I mean… I just figured…”
“Shh…” Wufei held a hand on his lover's mouth and kissed him lightly, “Now you listen” he said, unclasping the chain and retrieving the rings.
“I love you. You're right. This disease of mine made me realize I value your life more than my own. I also want to spend the rest of my days with you, no mater what and nothing would make me prouder then wearing a ring to show others whom I belong to…” He put one ring on the palm of Trowa's hand and smiled.
The former pilot of Heavyarms grinned and felt his world spin as he slipped the band with his “name” on his lover's finger.
“As long as you do the same…” Wufei added, placing his own ring on Trowa's finger.
Trowa fastened the chain around Wufei's neck and they held each other for a long moment, Wufei's body molded against his lover's chest, Trowa's chin resting on Wufei's head and fingers drawing familiar lines on his back, both enjoying some of the piece and beautiful camp sight Quatre's mansion had to offer.

*Calmaria - that's Portuguese and it's a word that refers to the quiet, peaceful time that comes before a very bad storm (at the sea). The only reason I put the word in Portuguese here is because I really don't know how to say that in English. Can you my dear English speaking reader, help me with the proper term for it? Thanks! =^.^=
