Chapter #4: Fangirl encounter of the 'drool' kind.
The fifth period was long awaited by many people, basically since it was Gym class, the class that flies by at unbelievable speed, also the last period. The class gathered, the girls in their uniforms, some of the boys in theirs. The uniforms consisted of Tee shirt and shorts for girls, tank top and shirt for boys. The boys exited the men's change rooms and immediately regretted it.
All the eyes in the room turned on him, all the female eyes that is. Katie, Jessica, Mandy, Amber, and Sage however remained talking in their own little group. "Girls…" Katie motioned past the other girl's shoulders and they turned around. "Damn… they look good enough to eat," Mandy commented, openly staring at Heero's well-developed arms and shoulders. The other guys weren't slim wimps either, even Quatre, the pacifist of them all had some muscle power in his arms. "Damn boy… light my fire," Katie was drooling over Duo already. Sage, Amber, and Jessica rolled their eyes, "While it is true Trowa looks good enough to eat, I have more restraint then those two," Jessica commented to Sage who nodded in agreement.
The girls very ceremoniously, and smugly moved to the guys. The other girls in the class puffed out, the other guys got jealous that they were all-but forgotten. The teacher alerted the class by dribbling a ball on the hardwood floor of the gym. "Ok class listen up, today as promised, the senior boys basketball team will be coming to teach you guys how to play, we will be getting into a game later, so pay attention, Jessica, since you're the captain of the senior girls basketball team, keep an eye on the progress of the girls," the teacher told her, Jessica nodded.
"Captain of a basketball team?" Duo asked. "Yep… she has a mean three pointer shot," Sage told. "Can't forget the 'Tornado Spin' pass," Amber added. "Shush you two… stop it," Jessica was fidgeting; a light tint of pink was on her cheeks. Sage playfully jabbed her friend in the arm, "Chill out," she said.
The gym door opened and five brawny guys walked in, "They are the senior boys B-ball team," Jessica explained they were the best five. "Frankly you five would be able to take them down," Sage idly said, meaning the G-boys.
Half an hour later the class was in mid swing, and it was hilarious. Since Jessica and her friends already knew how to do most of the stuff and the boys weren't so far behind, Heero and Duo were really excelling at the game. The other girls were a riot, Ashley broke a nail when she passed the ball to her prissy friend, and now she was literarily bowling her eyes out because she broke her precious nail.
The captain of the boys B-ball team dribbled a ball and slam dunked it effortlessly, "Ok people… we will get into a little game, now to demonstrate," the captain of the boys team chose one of his friends to help him, then he looked at all the boys, "Yuy get over here…" he commanded. Heero's eyebrow flew up, "Go Heero!" Mandy chorused. "He wants you to play on his team," Sage explained. Heero nodded and walked over to the guy, the captain of the team was brawny, but shorter then Heero, Heero clearly stood at a good five eleven, maybe six feet, while the captain of the boys team was only five ten. The captain then chose two other boys from the class, "Ok Jess, make a team… and prepare to loose," he teased.
Jessica snorted, "In your dream Josh! In your dreams…" she told him, "Ok Mandy, lets rock 'n' roll, I tough you the tornado spin, well you gonna use it today," she told her friend. Mandy nodded. Next she looked at the other girls and winced, "Carol, Felicity, Chelsea, lets do this," she hated having Carol on her team, but the girl had a knack for third pointers, besides, she didn't want to seem like she was favoring, she could always substitute later.
The teacher brought out a ball and held it in the middle of the court, Josh told Heero to do the throw-off. Jessica grinned, Josh was a blunder, he was fast and a good slam-dunker, but he couldn't do the throw-off correctly, he just couldn't jump up high enough. They took position and Jessica bent her back leg slightly, she now appeared to be shorter then Heero, but this maneuver would normally act like a spring, and give her height in the jump. The teachers blew his whistle and threw the ball up, both jumped but Heero was quicker, he made the ball go back to his team.
Josh of course grabbed it and the game began. "Those onnas will never win," Wufei commented. "With Carol on the team, maybe not, but you forgot, Jessica has the tornado spin, if she spins that ball out, it literarily becomes uncatchable, it won the school the cup in the senior girls division for both years since Jess joined the team," Sage told her. The teacher blew a whistle and a score was added for the guys, Josh was still faster and he managed to bypass Mandy and do a slam-dunk for two points. Ashley and Mimi were cheering for Heero, and even Carol threw a hoot in there, Heero however paid no attention.
Felicity threw in the ball and Mandy caught it, turning around she quickly dribbled it past James, one of the boys in their class, she was at the three line shot when Heero blocked her effortlessly, he was taller, she didn't have a clear shot. Mandy raised two fingers and Jessica understood the code, she nodded. In a shocking maneuver Mandy threw the ball down, it bounced and rolled between Heero's legs, Jessica intercepted it, and as if on springs bolted to the net, before Josh could stop her, the whistle blew, slam dunk for the girls, "I can't believe Yuy let that pass," Wufei commented off the sidelines. "Shut up… you aint seen nothing yet," Amber, told him.
Half an hour, in the final quarter the score was 75, 85 in favor of the boys, Heero had a mean unblock-able three pointer shot. Carol and Chelsea were substituted for Sage and Amber. "Ok people, listen up… we have to score 6, leave 5 more to me… lets not let them score, defense… and careful of Heero, he has a tendency to lead with his right shoulder, well, since he leaves that flank so weakened, when you strike, try to keep on his left, block him from shooting, got that?" the four girls nodded, "Ok… lets show Josh, and show every other narcissistic pig that girls can play too," the girls nodded again.
The final quarter commences; the score went up to 81/85 in the boys favor. Then Jessica got the ball, everyone was expecting the tornado spin any second now from her with only 3 minutes on the clock, Mandy passed her the ball since Heero was once again blocking her, and doing it savagely. Jessica paused, evaluating her options, Josh and James were on her sides, making her traditional curve-slam-dunk impossible, she would have to go for the three-pointer, not her best, her aim was always off by a margin of a degree, but this time she would be prepared, dribbling past James she took aims and let the ball fly, it hit the ring and began to roll on it, James saw the shot charged for the net, just as he jumped to grab the ball, it fell… right into the net, earning the girls a three-pointer. The Score 84/85, a minute on the clock.
The girls gathered on their side, "Ok… it's Tornado spin time… if I'm blocked, Mandy you'll have to do it, Chess, I need you by the basket for a slam dunk, Sage back her up… Amber, keep Josh occupied, his hands are so large, he can catch that ball in flight effortlessly, now lets go and win…" the girls nodded and walked into the fields. The boys had the ball, Josh took the shot and raced for the net, he knew if they were to use the tornado spin they would win, he had to sink this one in. Heero raced to the net, he would slam-dunk as Josh told him, he liked the game as it went, and the girls were amazingly powerful players.
The unthinkable happened, Jessica stood right in Josh's path, he slowed down not to plow right into the girl and that was his downfall, the girl grabbed the ball in mid dribble and ducked around him, her wrist rotated on the ball, signaling that she was getting ready for the tornado spin. Amber and Felicity took their positions, Heero jumped right in front of the net where Sage was right behind him, 'foolish mistake Heero,' she thought. Her eyes solidified in what one might describe as the 'Zero Look', "Look out… it's a twister," she muttered…
Josh turned just in time to see Jessica throw the ball, as it was leaving her hands, her wrist flicked once again, the ball began to spin like a drill in mid air, the crowd froze and Heero's eyes widened, the ball was heading right his way, spinning like a drill, with no sign of slowing down, it only looked like it was picking up speed, he jumped up to catch it, his hands came in contact with it, but barely a second later he felt his fingertips begin to burn like fire against the backwards spin of the ball, the ball slipped out of his grasp, Sage behind him was ready, she caught it effortlessly, and before Heero could turn around she jumped up and slam-dunked it into the basket. The whistle blew signaling the end of the game, the score blared 86/85 Girls favor.
Jessica began to laugh; "told you Josh… even Heero can't block the Tornado Spin!" she walked off the field, still laughing. Mandy, Sage, Felicity and Amber in turn clapped her on the shoulder, "Perfect spin… as always, I have no idea how you learned to do that," Felicity commented. Heero walked up to Jessica, she could see that his hands were still red from taking her tornado spin like that, "you have to teach me that move…" he commented.
"Sorry Hee-man, this move was first used by my Basketball idol, Michael Jordan, I don't have the legal policy to teach it, but you may find a tutorial on the net," she told him, grabbing her towel from her bag she began to towel her long bangs dry. Heero shrugged, he was amazed how easily she sent the ball into a spin, it almost looked like she patted the ball, but really she spun it out really hard, his fingers were still burning.
The gym class was finished without much incident, after school the gang gathered in the parking lot by their van. Heero appeared to be close to sulking, but he managed to hold it back. "I can't believe you let that ball pass," Wufei told Heero. "Face it boys, I own the B-ball court, you can have the gundams," Jessica was twirling the car keys on her finger. They got into the car when suddenly Katie appeared by the driver side door, "Hey guys, nice car… anyhoo, I don't want to be a total jerk, but… this stone thing, it's been bugging me all day, you mind if I tag along and we could talk about what could that mean? Huh?" she was bouncing from foot to foot nervously. "Sure… you can tag along, guys squeeze over, and Wufei, one complaint and you're walking home! This is ~our~ car, Got that Wise-ass?" She stifled his complains effortlessly. The guys had to squeeze a bit but Katie fit in.
Soon enough the red van was doing sixty on the somewhat empty streets, occasionally slowing down for a red light. Katie was looking at her stone, which was still shimmering pink, pulsating, and once it a while it would flash bright pink, lighting up the darkened interior of the car, it looked like a beacon doing that. "Are you sure those aren't bombs?" Heero asked, eyeing the stone curiously, "No silly! They aren't bombs…" Katie told him.
Half and hour later they were home, Katie was shocked to find that the guys live with the girls, "Lucky Devils…" she remarked as they vanished upstairs to change. Katie's stone was still pulsating, albeit quicker now then before. Jessica and Mandy appeared, their own stones in the open, they were pulsating at different rhythms then each other, and it almost looked like they were flashing in a sequence. The guys appeared with the rest of the girls, the stones began to pulsate even quicker, and now the fact they flashed in sequence became clear.
The girls places their stones on the coffee table in the order they were flashing, beginning with Jessica's, ending with Katie's. "Any thoughts about them?" Amber asked she found it fascinating how the stones would do a light show like this. "I'm starting to think these didn't come from the moon, they could be some fancy are 51 device that fell out of a plane or something when some super spy was hijacking it," Jessica theorized. "You watch too many James Bond movies," Mandy remarked.
Suddenly the stones began to pulsate at one second interval, the light from them became intense, they began to shimmer and shake. One by one they levitated of the table and formed a circle. Beams of light erupted from, connecting them to each other in a shape of circle; energy began to form in the shape, "What's going on?" The girls watched with curiosity, Heero reached for his gun, only to remember he left it in the attic. Suddenly a map of the United States appeared in the circle, with a bright red dot contrasting against the yellow of the map.
From each stone two more beams shot out, forming another small screen-like translucent square, each square was divided into two and pictures appeared on them, rotating slowly. The girls gasped and the guys stared in shock, pictures of their own gundams appeared, with five more other gundam-like suits next to them. On top was Wing Zero Custom; next to it was a gray-white-black suit with a slim figure and a distinct crest, "Wolf Zero!" Mandy was shocked. The guys looked at her, "My gundam," the girl explained. Next to it on the right was DeathScythe Hell Custom, next to it was black suit with red highlights, also slim and more curved, "Hey… HellRaiser looks better on here then it ever did on my drawings," Katie commented, identifying the mysterious suit as her own.
Below it were Heavyarms Kai and another suit with large wings like those of Wing Zero, except they were black, with fire painted on them, the black on top was dotted with small white speckles, like a star field, the machine itself was black with red, orange, gold, yellow, and white, on it's head was a distinct three tipped charm, "Cosmic Phoenix Omega Wing," Jessica muttered, "Damn, that's darn cool," she added. Next to them were Sandrock Kai and an Ice Blue/white suit with ghostly appearance to it, "Absolute Zero," Sage uttered, "Don't call her hot… unless you want to insult her," she added somewhat cockily. And the finals were Altron Custom and another yellow/black gundam with large claws in what appeared to be launcher devices, it's antennae were shaped like lightning bolts, "Tempest Hurricane," Amber told her friends.
"Onnas, are those your gundams?" Wufei asked eying the five suits. "Don't you go dissing them buster, not unless you value your life, now about this point… I think the stones… are trying to tell us where to find them, but why in the middle of the Arizona Desert?" Jessica touched the image, it zoomed closer slightly, "Hey… isn't that where area 51 supposedly is?" Mandy wondered. "That's right… you think they are in area 51?" Sage wondered. "Area 51?" Heero wondered, he was confused, what was so special about this zone. "Just the most secret place in the entire world, supposed to be a myth, a legend, it is so guarded that an eagle doesn't fly in their air space undetected," Katie answered his question.
"So how are we going to bust our big buddies out of there?" Duo asked, he had an idea, and he didn't like it. "How else, we infiltrate Area 51!" Jessica spoke as if it was the easier thing in the world. "Do you know what they do to people who try that? The last person who did try got the electric chair! I don't want to die young!" Amber whined. "Relax, I think we can do it, I mean common, we go Heero on our team, if he cant infiltrate something, no one can," Jessica replied. "You onnas will get us caught," Wufei spoke. "Hn… well then, I don't think you boys can fly two gundams at the same time, so like it or not, we're coming too," Sage replied. "And how are we so sure they are in fact there?" Amber wondered.
The stones separated, the images vanishing, they landed safely on the table, but no longer pulsated, as if they told all they had to tell, then suddenly they each gave out a flash, a long metallic chain appearing from their end, long enough so a person might wear it around their neck. "Well then, this will take some planning… but we will do it, besides… we can always say we're dummies who got lost, not like they are going to kill a bunch of teens who got lost on the road," Jessica smiled her chesher cat smile that meant only mischief, "Area 51 here we come…" she said coolly.
