Chapter #17: Resistance Is Futile
Heero came back into the living room after a good two hours since he left. The others were watching TV, he noted that Mike was still in the room and frowned. Mandy was lying on the carpeted floor, on her stomach. Sage sat next to her, Indian style, with her legs crossed. Jessica was on the couch, with her head resting on Trowa's shoulder, his arm wrapped around her, the two seemed oddly content with each other.
Mike was sitting on the other side of the same couch, smirking like a chesher cat, a grin that he and his cousin shared. Duo sat on the second couch, with Amber and Quatre occupying the other side, the guys were watching a movie, and Amber was napping some popcorn pieces out of the bucket that Quatre held. Wufei was nowhere in sight.
On the TV, a dark-skinned man in all black was fighting off a large, ant-like alien beast. "What are you watching?" Heero asked idly. "Men In Black, has to be the coolest movie even made," Mandy replied. "Will Smith rules," Jessica added. "Oh shush… this is the part he bugs that alien with those roaches," Amber chided. "Roaches… yuck," Duo added. "Hey, we still got Men In Black two to watch, wait till you see Serleena," Jessica spoke. "Awesome!" Duo chimed. Silence resettled as the gang gone back to the movie. Heero joined them, sitting beside Mandy who after he sat down shot up into a sitting position as well, he only mildly noticed the light blush on her face.
---At the limestone Caves---
Men walked around the inner chambers with flashlights, Jacob Lee one of them. His radio cracked to life, "Sir, the men are in position," The man on the radio announced. Jacob picked the device, "Good, this may take a while, we don't know when those pilots come for the mechas, for now, stay put." He replied. The device cracked again, "Yes sir," the man on the other side of the com link replied.
In their chamber, all the gundams heard that conversation; their radio links easily intercepted the radio signals. "This is the part I wish I could move on my own," DeathScythe muttered. True they were sentient, but they weren't mobile dolls, they couldn't move much on their own, much less fight. "The logical thing to do would be to wait and see if they leave," Heavyarms put in. "I agree," Wing Zero added. "I'm worried, what if our masters come before these humans leave?" Sandrock spoke. "Then we should warn them not to come," Altron replied. "And how do you suppose we supposed to do that, without cluing them in that there are imposters ambushing them here?" Phoenix wondered, what Altron proposed was preposterous to the bird gundam. Wing Zero was fast at work working on how to solve that particular problem.
Back at their place, Mike was still bugging the pilots, but mostly his cousin, about the gundams. Everyone could see that he really wanted to see them. Heero was growing impatient with him, and when Heero got impatient, it wasn't a pretty sight. Jessica could sense Heero's patience grow thin, "Mike, sit down, shut up, and don't move," she barked at her cousin. Mike gulped, the girls just snickered and the guys grinned. He sat down, calmed down, and stopped moving, "I still want to see the gundams," he whined. "If it takes you to calm down and leave us alone, Heero, I'm going to have to take him to visit Phoenix, hopefully she'll scare the pants off him," Jessica got up. "Hey Jess, hold on, I'm coming too," Sage jumped up. "Us too!" Mandy and Amber chorused as one. Mike grinned at the expression on Heero's face, he looked as if he was losing his temper finally. "We all go," he finally spoke. "Alright!" Mike cheered. "Baka," Wufei muttered.
Back at the cave some time later. Some men were watching the cave grotto when they heard car tires. Then they saw it, a red van approached slowly, turning into the grotto it drove right in. The windows were shaded, so they couldn't see the driver, the men stuck to the walls, using the fact that the cave was so dark as their camouflage. Heero drove slowly; a nagging feeling was creeping in the back of his head. He finally stopped in front of the marked wall, he knew the cave passage by memory now, and he knew how long it takes to walk on foot, in his gundam, and drive down to this particular wall. He opened the door and go out, the others got out too.
The men around them watched, shocked to find that the driver was an eighteen year old, one man tapped his head set, "Sir… we have eleven teens here, they could be the pilots, do we apprehend them now?" he asked. There was a crackle, "No wait until you have the proof that they are the pilots." The boss replied. "Yes sir," the first man spoke back and cut the link. Before his eyes, one girl passed a hand on the wall, and suddenly it began to shift open, before their eyes was a lit cavern, and around the walls stood ten giant mechas.
Mike stared agape, all ten gundams before him. Suddenly there were sounds of clicks behind them and the pilots turned around, finding themselves surrounded by about twenty men, with guns in their hands, their faces covered by ski masks, on their shoulders, and image of a black lotus. Jessica suddenly understood, "The lotus… they are the resistance force," she spoke. One man pointed his gun at her, "Right you are missy, but then again, someone who is capable of piloting those must be really smart," he spoke. Heero took charge, "What do you want?" he asked. The man shrugged, "We want you pilots to help us with the aliens," the leader moved from the ranks of his men taking off his mask, "I am Jacob Lee, I lead the resistance, but you can call us the 'Black Lotus' group." He spoke coolly, eying the teens, there were eleven of them, but only ten mechas, which meant one of them wasn't a pilot. "What makes you think we will help you?" Jessica asked.
It completely escaped them all that the gundams were watching all of this, Phoenix was itching to draw it's flame canon, Wing Zero commanded her not to do it, she would obey, after all, he was the leader. Wing Zero knew what would happen, he knew his master and he was ready for it. Heero edged back a little, preparing to make a lunge for it, if he could get to Wing Zero, it would be easy finishing this encounter off. Heero suddenly turned around and made a run for it, "Shoot him!" Jacob called, gunfire erupted, they were aiming at Heero's feet but he expertly dodged the bullets.
Wing Zero reacted, opening his cockpit and dropping down a cable, his large angel wings came around forming a shield Gasps were heard, I that instant Jessica made a break for it too, Phoenix reacted in the same manner. "Heero and Jessica are crazy!" Katie spoke. "Only someone crazy would pilot a gundam with the Zero system so they must be crazy," Duo responded. Wing Zero fully powered up a second later, his wings opened and drew back, folding behind the gundam's back. Phoenix came online a second later, shrieking so loud, it's shriek echoed trough the cavern. Jacob Lee watched in horror as the two gundams advanced, one of them drew two canons and aimed down, the other drew what appeared to be a light saber from that movie… Star Wars, it appeared to be a giant Jedi warrior with huge wings, both of them had huge wings.
"Leave," Heero commanded trough the external links, the other pilots took cover behind the cavern walls. "You heard him, leave… or you will be roasted," Jessica added, as if on command, spark raced across CP's flame canons, they ignited, forming small fireballs around the gundam's hands, it thrust one hand foreword and a jet of fire erupted, flying over the men's heads, many ducked, to avoid the intense flames. The cavern was lit like the sky on fourth of July. Jacob Lee gulped, "Retreat!" he yelled. The other men nodded and proceeded to leave the cavern. CP suddenly blasted off, it's boosters igniting the gundam transformed and blasted off after them. Phoenix followed the fleeing men as they got into their trucks and drove off. After a brief chase the Phoenix banked off and returned to cave. When it landed Heero was seething at her, "What was that?" he asked. Jessica grinned, "what, cant I have some fun with those idiots?" She wondered. "Damn it Jess! That gundam is too cool!" Mike yelled. There was a hiss coming from Phoenix's artificial intelligence, "I dislike being called 'Cool' human!" it hissed at mike. His eyes widened bigger then saucers, "Ok… you're hot," he mumbled. The gundam blew out a jet of steam from the vents on the side of its head and laughter erupted. Even Heero smiled a bit; it was obvious to say that 'Like pilot… like gundam,' at the moment.
