Chapter 6

"What? Me?" Relena asked, delighted at the offer.

Hilde and Relena were gathered outside on Relena's patio soaking up the sun and enjoying time away from their overly protective men. Lying down on deck chairs, they chatted away.

"I want you, my second best friend, to be my maid of honor. And you better say yes!" Hilde joked.

Everyone had been so worried about Relena after her miscarriage, but like the true survivor she was, she bounced back stronger than ever. Hilde was happy she was doing so well and knew it had to do with Heero. He was living there permanently at the manor and everyone was happy for them.

Okay, not everyone was pleased with it, but Milliardo no longer carried his gun around.

"I'd be honored, Hilde." Relena smiled and hugged her friend. They broke off into girlish giggles as they went over Hilde's wedding ideas.

Duo and Heero were elsewhere discussing the same thing.

"So, you'll be my best man?" Duo asked around a mouthful of turkey sandwich.

Duo, once he and Hilde arrived to visit had headed for his favorite part of her house. The kitchen. The two men were eating lunch that Peygan had prepared them and was just going to deliver to the ladies out back.

"Hn." Heero replied, biting into his sandwich.

"I'll take that grunt as a yes." Duo smirked, then laughed as Heero rolled his eyes at him.

The closer the wedding date approached, the crazier Duo and Hilde became. Dress fitting, and bridal showers, and planning galore. Relena was surprised they didn't elope.

"I thought you liked me, Hilde." Relena remarked, grimacing in one of her maid of honor dress choices. It was ugly. Butt ugly. It hurt to stare at it head on ugly!

"Yeah, you're right. Okay, try on this one." Hilde suggested, crossing off the dress from her list of choices. She pointed to the next choice in a pile of gowns.

They'd been through five dresses so far, all in blue. Hilde wanted a blue to match her Duo's cobalt blue eyes. Relena was amazed you could make so many varieties of ugly dresses in one color.

Relena picked up the gown and marched back into the dressing room. Minutes later she came out in a stunning blue, off the shoulder gown. Long in length, it was covered in sequence around the waist. Vibrant in color, it shined and Hilde gasped at the sight. It matched her Duo's eyes perfectly. She grinned at Relena, who also smiled back. This was the dress!

"How was you tux fitting, Heero?" Relena asked, as Heero came into the bed room. She was sitting at her vanity, pulling her back into a pony tail.

"Hn. He's nuts. I tried on nine different tuxes before I threatened to shoot him if he didn't make up his mind. He finally picked one." Heero smirked.

His laughter quickly turned to shock as he looked Relena up and down. She was casually doing her hair, dressed in a violet nighty that barely reached her knees. When she'd been pregnant, she had worn large nightgowns that covered up more than displayed. But she was no longer pregnant and as his eyes wandered over her figure, she'd gotten her shape back and then some.

Relena, oblivious to Heero's staring, laughed along with him. "Poor Duo and Hilde. Who knew a wedding would be such a production, huh? And this is a small one."

She got up from her stool and headed to bed, stopping as Heero just stood there staring. Under his intense scrutiny, she blushed.

"Heero?" Relena questioned nervously.

He said nothing, but he walked over to stand close to her. Relena looked into his eyes and felt overwhelmed by the heat there. Slowly, he brought his arms around her, holding her tightly against him. His hands boldly caressed up and down her back. Feeling his desire for her, she felt weak in the knees and flustered.

Heero wanted her! She was excited and frightened all at once. It wasn't her first time, but this time it would be with someone she loved.

Heero bent his head down and kissed her. He told her to open her mouth, and she did and she felt his tongue sliding over her bottom lip, then inside. This was different than the ones they had shared before. It was urgent and wild.

Heero pulled away for much needed air. "Relena, if you're not sure I'll stop."

Being held by him, she felt her heartbeat pickup in her chest. After everything they'd shared, she knew there wasn't another person in the world she'd ever want to be with or love again besides him.

"I'm sure." She pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth and smiled when he shuddered.

Picking her up in his arms, he laid her down upon the bed. Relena raised her face to gaze up at him. She felt his mouth lightly touch hers again. He tasted sweet to her. She felt his tongue softly glide over her lips, then gently probed until hers parted. She felt his love, his desire and that feed her own.

Five months later Hilde Schebeker happily became Hilde Maxwell. The wedding was a beautiful affair. As friendly and personable as the couple were, the chapel was filled to capacity with guest and well wishers. Witnessing their love and happiness brought many a guest to tears. Quatre and Relena included.

At the reception, the highlight of the day for Relena was watching Sally catch the bouquet and Wufei start to visibly sweat.

Relena and Heero watched from an abandoned table as people around them danced or ate or both. Duo and Hilde were dancing on the floor, Quatre was being relentlessly chased by some female guest that was twice his size and height. Poor Quatre. Always too polite to hurt anothers feelings. Noin, Milliardo and Une were laughing over something at their table. And Trowa...Trowa, though polite to them, stayed far away. She hoped someday all would be forgiven and they could be friends again.

"What are you sighing about?" Heero asked.

"Duo and Hilde. They're so happy. They deserve it." Relena said, putting hand over top his on the table. She smiled when Duo tried to dip Hilde as they danced. Hilde in turn dipped him and they started laughing.

"So do you, Relena." Heero said, looking at her dreamy expression.

"I am happy." Relena looked back at him. Kissing him on the cheek, she was thankful he was finally a part of her life.

"So am I. Then marry me Relena." Heero asked, reaching into the breast pocket of his tux. He pulled out a small black box and Relena could only stare dumbfounded. He opened it to reveal a beautiful princess cut diamond. A perfect diamond.

"I'm not good with words, so I'll let my actions speak for me." Heero said, picking up her left hand and sliding the ring on it. Perfect fit.

All her dreams had finally come true...except one. But when she thought about it, her pregnancy had been a miracle that had made her into a better, stronger person. In the end, it had brought Heero and her closer together, not further apart.

"Well?" he asked, a little nervous though he tried to hide it.

"Yes. A hundred times yes, Heero. Always yes."

The End.

Okay, that's the end of the story. I hope you all liked it. One thing, I decided this didn't need a love scene in it. Some of might have gone...WHAT? After everything they'd been through, reading about them romping around wouldn't have made me happy. Just knowing they loved each other and the relationship made it was nice enough. Thanks for the support. Bye!
