1St POV Relena's
Fractured by Kuno-baby
Chapter 5
Relena sighed, pleaded. "I'll tell you everything, Heero. But I have to be sure Trowa's all right. Please don't give me that look. If you look this bad, I know how he must look ten times worse."
Heero grunted, but agreed. He'd left the traitor lying the backyard in a considerable amount of pain. As angry as he still was, he knew Trowa needed medical help.
"He's in the backyard." Heero mumbled.
Relena nodded and squeezed him tight in hug. He put his arm around her waist and led her out of the room.
*****************
Trowa grimaced as he staggered from the backyard back into the mansion. *Bastard. I won't underestimate Heero again.*
Ignoring the shocked expressions from Relena's staff members as he passed, Trowa stumbled to den. All eyes in the room turned to him when he entered.
"Oh Allah! Trowa, what happened?" Quatre gasped, jumping out of his seat. The others quickly followed. Quatre put his arm around his friend to steady him.
"Move aside, people." Sally commanded, as she and Quatre gently lowered Trowa onto the couch. He looked like hell. Blood was all over his rumpled clothing, bruises covered his face and his jaw line was swollen twice normal size. Trowa flinched as she gently prodded his cheek and jaw.
"He's definitely got a broken jaw, maybe a few cracked ribs. Can't be sure until we take him to a hospital." Sally said, running her hands around his rib area softly.
"I'll go call my driver around." Quatre answered, going to use the phone in the next room.
"What the hells going on here? He looks like he's been in a fight." Milliardo asked. Noin shrugged beside him.
Just then Relena and Heero came walking into the room. One look at Heero answered a few questions for the group.
Relena gasped a loud at the sight of Trowa lying on the couch.
"Heero, what the hell is going on here?" Duo asked, his eyes going back and forth between Trowa and Heero.
Noin, standing next to her bewildered husband slowly started putting it all together. She took in Relena's horrified face and the extreme animosity in both boys eyes. Guess the mystery of the unknown father had just been solved.
Just like his wife, Milliardo was also putting the pieces together and became quickly enraged. He started toward Trowa, but Noin grabbed his arm and jerked him back.
"It's not the right time. It looks like Heero's already taken care of it." Noin whispered. He reluctantly backed down.
"The cars here. I-Heero? You're hurt too?" Quatre said, when he came running back into the room.
"Why are you beat up, Heero? You two were fighting. Why?" Duo asked, very suspicious of the circumstances.
"Don't you think you should be getting him to a hospital?" Heero stated, ignoring Duo.
Trowa glared at him before turning away to look at Relena's unhappy face.
With that said, Wufei nudged Sally aside, helping Quatre lift Trowa up. They carried him out to the waiting car, while the rest filed after them.
"Relena." Milliardo said to his sister, who silently watched them load Trowa into the back seat. Wufei, Sally and Quatre got in the car and drove off.
"Before you ask, the answer is yes. That's all I'm going to say about it." Relena said. She signaled Peygan to get her car so they could follow after them.
"Heero, what is going on with you and Trowa?" Duo questioned again.
Heero didn't answer right away, keeping an eye on Relena talking to her brother. "It was a little disagreement that's over. Leave it at that."
*************************
They were forced to wait two hours before Sally came back with news. Heero had refused any medical help and silently sulked off in the corner of the waiting room, ignoring everyone except Relena. After pacing for a bit, she'd settled down and went to sit by Heero. To everyone's astonishment, He'd held her hand.
"He's going to be fine. It wasn't as bad as I thought. His jaw is broken, but the doctors say he'll heal up as good as new. And no broken ribs, just bruised." Sally announced happily.
Wufei stood up and walked over to Heero and Relena. He'd been unusually silent during the whole ordeal, but that was about to change.
"Whatever caused this rift among friends, I don't really care to know. But keep your animosity with Trowa to yourself. We don't want any part of this squabble." Wufei said, to which Heero nodded.
"Sally, can Trowa have visitors?" Relena asked.
"Sure, he won't be much on conversation, but he can have visitors." said Sally.
Lifting her hand to caress the side of Heero's bruised face, Relena turned to Heero. They didn't have to say anything, he knew what she wanted. He nodded curtly. Relena stood up and asked Sally to take her to Trowa. That raised more eyebrows among the group, except for Noin and Milliardo, but they all remained silent.
Watching Relena leave with Sally, Heero narrowed his eyes in anger and pain.
********************
Trowa was lying in his hospital bed, looking like hell warmed over. His eyes lit up at the sight of Relena and she smiled tentatively at him.
Walking over to the bed, she sat at the edge. "I'm sorry, Trowa. I never wanted this to happen to you." Relena sighed, running her fingers through his wild hair.
"For everyone's sake, I think we should all stay far away from one another for a while." Relena said sadly.
Trowa desperately wanted to dissuade her, but knew a cooling down period was probably in order. He loved her but knew his presence wasn't helping. He nodded.
She bent and kissed his forehead. "Someday, maybe we can all be friends again."
Suddenly teary eyed, Relena said her good-byes and left Trowa, broken in spirit and body.
*************************
Everyone was settled in for the night. Their friends had left for the night, but would return for her speech. Dressed for bed, Relena hid out in her bathroom, stalling for time. Though he'd been quiet since they had gotten home hours ago, she knew Heero still wanted and deserved answers.
When she finally came out, he was resting on his side of the bed, staring out her balcony window at nothing. She walked over and sat next to him, barely touching.
"It happened at the War Orphans charity function. I was having a horrible night to start with. I was tired from work and I just didn't want to spend hours sweet talking a bunch of tight fisted millionaires out of donating money to a greater cause. It started out as one drink, but one became another and another. Trowa was my guard and knew I was drinking too much in a short amount of time. Before I could embarrass myself in front of everyone, he dragged me away. Took me to a empty conference room in the back." Relena sighed, bending her head, not looking at Heero.
"We talked for a while and by that time I was beyond drunk. Not that it makes it right. I knew what I was doing."
"Was he drunk?" Heero asked, already knowing the answer.
"No. I don't think so. We got on the subject of you, heh. He told me I was semi-obsessed and I laughed and agreed. Trowa told me he loved Cathy but she treated him like a child. He was so depressed. I knew what that was like. To love someone completely and not feel loved back."
Heero remained silent though he was steaming with reawaken anger at Trowa. Anger at himself for pushing her away into the waiting arms of another man.
"We kissed and...and. God, I lost my virginity is some barren conference room surrounded by chairs! Heero, I'm sorry." She sobbed, covering her face with her hands.
"Shh. You don't have to be sorry about anything. It'll be alright, Relena. I promise, I'll never leave you again." Heero put his arms around her and laid them down on the bed. He'd never leave her or let anyone hurt her again...including himself.
********************
It had been a stressful time for Relena after the scandal broke and the fight with Heero and Trowa and now this. Days went by too quickly for her and now the day of reckoning was at hand. Her speech would be the most important in her career.
"Relena, honey, it's time." Noin said.
Noin, Milliardo and Heero patiently waited to escort her to the stage.
Nodding, Relena steeled herself for the toughest speech of her life.
**********************
Relena smiled nervously as she stepped onto the podium. She looked beautiful is a rose colored suit and had her long hair down around her. She looked young and innocent...a very smart political move.
"Hello. I've brought you all here today to discuss the rumors and speculation of my pregnancy. I am four months pregnant. As for the father of my baby, that is a private matter that I don't feel the public needs to know of. My private life is just that, private. Though the rumors of my love life were never as wild and salacious as the tabloids would have you believe. I'm also here to officially resign from my position as VFM. I've enjoyed my time in politics, though it wasn't my lifes ambition. It is something I will always feel strongly for. I-I'm proud of the small part I played in bringing about p-peace...and if not for the occasional assassination attempt and -"
Relena broke off her sentence and grimaced. She was having terrible cramps. Once the pain subsided, she'd continue on. *Ouch! There it goes again!*
Heero watched carefully from his position behind her. Something was wrong with her. She'd stopped speaking and the crowd was becoming restless. He saw her clenching the mike stand hard. What the hell was wrong? Why was-blood?!
Relena gasped out in pain as the horrible, searing pain erupted inside her stomach. She felt a gush of wetness between her legs and looked down in horror at the sight of blood pouring down her thighs and legs.
"Heero!" Relena cried out as she fell to her knees in agony. Heero and Noin rushed immediately over, while Milliardo screamed for security to bring their car around.
Relena hysterically sobbed as Heero tried to comfort her. He picked her up gently in his arms, running toward the nearest exit, Milliardo and Noin close on his heels.
****************1St POV
Spontaneous abortion. Another fancy word for miscarriage. I miscarried my baby. My baby was gone. The doctors reassured me it wasn't my fault and sometimes it was for the best. God's will. What the hell do they know?! It was my baby, not theirs. I can't stop crying! I don't know how to stop crying! I had just started picking out names. Christian for a boy and Grace for a girl. They were such beautiful names for a baby. All those baby clothes I bought but would never use. This was my punishment for sleeping with Trowa. I had hurt so many people and God was punishing me. I knew it. I had miscarried my baby on national television. Well, the nightly news would have a big story to run tonight. But it didn't matter anymore, nothing mattered. As scared as I was in the beginning, it was worse agony not even getting the chance to hold and love my child. I never got to hold my baby! Just a quick exam, clean up and I'm back to my hospital room. All alone. My baby was dead...and I wish I were too.
*****************
Heero gazed down at Relena while she slept. She'd come home from the hospital just today after being there for only two days. He didn't know anything about hospital procedure, but he didn't think that was enough time to recover after losing a baby. She wouldn't say anything to anyone. Nothing. Just start to cry or stare off into space. Depression. The doctors told them she'd be depressed after such a lost. Gave a number for a help group and a prescription for some pills and sent her on her way. He'd wanted to bash the cold ass doctor in the face, but had held it in. He felt inadequate when it came to emotions, so the only thing he could do was stay by her side. She only allowed him near her at night. He'd hold her offering comfort and receive some in return.
*******************
It was a month later before Relena was close to her normal self. Without being weighed down by political duties, she'd stayed close to home. The public had completely did a 180 and had been unwavering in the support and sympathy. Flowers, stuffed animals and other gifts littered their bedroom. Noin and Milliardo were now staying at the manor in support and they heard from their other friends on a daily bases.
"Relena?" Heero asked as he searched the house for her. He'd left her only a moment to talk over a security matter on the vid-phone with Une, but came back and she was missing. He checked all downstairs before racing upstairs when he stopped. She was standing in the middle of the room she'd designated would be the nursery. While she had recovered, he and Noin had discreetly removed all baby items from the room.
"I was praying for a little girl, you know. Wanted to put her in frilly little dresses with the cute booties." Relena said, her back to him. She turned around and he saw she was holding a pacifier.
He'd gotten careless and she found one of the babies stuff. Damn!
"But a boy would have been wonderful too. I would have put him in a cute little suit with a mini tie. Hell, anything would have been wonderful!" Relena sobbed, bursting into tears.
He gathered her close and put his arms around her and just let her cry.
"Would you have loved it even if it was Trowa?" Relena asked, crying into his chest. He rubbed her back and kissed the top of her head.
"I would have loved it because it was yours." Heero said.

Okay! Don't kill me! I just couldn't realistically believe everything would be kosher with this bunch if Relena had the baby. Trowa and Heero would always be coming to blows and such. Besides, I have plans for Heero and Relena that are more happier and less angsty. The next chapter is the final one. Thank you all. Bye!
