Kind of a given isn't it?
Fallen Angel sent out this plot bunny a while ago, so I thought I'd have a go at it ^^ Sorry, I kinda ended up mutilating it but...really don't like the title I gave it. But I can't think of anything else so I s'pose it sticks. *Shrugs*this is set four or five years after EW. Just so you know.
"Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea how worried I have been?!" Duo stood in the middle of the hall, hands resting on his hips. The figure that had just walked through the door shut it behind himself.don't see how it is any of your business. You don't own me."but I'm your boyfriend!"haven't been your boyfriend for a long time! We never do anything anymore! You've shut yourself off, and do you know the reason?"tell me." Came the sarcastic reply. What does he have to do with *our* relationship?!"exactly what I mean! He has been interfering with our relationship from the start!"haven't seen him for years! Ever since the end of the war! How the hell has he been interfering??!"sigh came from the other man. " His absence hasn't stopped you from loving him."stood in silence while the words sunk in. He was over Heero; had been for a long time. What made David think he still had feelings for the Wing pilot? does that mean?"means, you love him. You've always loved him and you always will. It is obvious; not just to me but to everyone. All your ex-boyfriends, do you know why they left you?" work out."do you know why they didn't work out? Because you weren't in love with them. They called it quits with you because they wanted your happiness - which meant with Heero."not true. Our break-ups had nothing to do with him."rested a hand on Duo's shoulder and steered him to sit on the couch. Seating himself across from the braided man, he looked into violet eyes. "All your ex's, they are still your friends, are they not?"then why can they be around you as friends, but not stay as lovers?"looked to the floor and shrugged. He had no idea why David had brought up the subject, or what it had to do with Heero.Duo, they like you. Would love to have more with you, but they knew it was no use. You have your heart to Heero only. Look at me. " Duo did as he was asked, "They left you in hopes that you would finally wake up and go to Heero."so full of bullshit."I? Because I don't think this is working out either. I want to remain your friend, nothing more. And as a friend I advise you to find Heero and tell him."'re leaving me? What the Hell did I do for that?"you not been listening to me?!"but I don't believe you."not? You just gave evidence."told me Hai. Not yes. Not yep, but hai."I use Japanese sometimes."why is it you even *started* to use Japanese?"I could communicate with Heero better. What's your... point... oh. But..."Listen to yourself; you love him."wouldn't work anyway."why not?"he doesn't return the feelings." Duo said in a voice suddenly tired.do you know that? Did you tell him and did he reject you?"but...."what have you got to lose?"picked some imaginary fluff off the couch, "Everything."
looked down at the crumpled piece of paper in his hand for the ninth time. Pushing the brim of his cap up, he gazed up at the apartment building before him. was standing on the outskirts of Tokyo, infront of a twenty-story building. The outside of the apartment block was not what you would call flashy, but not run down either. Figures, only Heero would live in a place that was adequate for his needs and nothing else. God knows he had hacked enough bank accounts to own the building, but the Japanese man still didn't indulge in the luxury.was a miracle that he had even found where Heero was living. He'd tried everything from hacking to phone books to find the address, but in the end, it was Quatre who helped the most. Of course, it had taken months for him to get in touch with the blonde. According to Quatre, one of his sisters friends happened to be Heero's co-worker for a while. The friend had told Quatres sister that she had recognised him from the newspaper articles about the Gundam pilots, and Que's sister had told Quatre about it. It hadn't taken a lot of persistence on Quatre's side to get the information from her; considering he was an ex Gundam pilot not to mention one of the most powerful men in the world and damn cute to boot. When Duo had rang the Arabian for the first time in years to ask for his help, he was happy to find that Quatre had had the address for several months but had never got around to using it. to calm his beating heart, Duo entered through the doors, seeing as the elevator was out of order, he began to climb the stairs. Hoping to god that Heero still lived here, or else he was screwed.golden numbers on the door gleamed almost menacingly at him. Taking a deep breath, he steadied himself and knocked on the door.
was stirring the spaghetti sauce when he heard someone at his door. Wiping his hands on a dishcloth, he turned the stove down and went to answer it.was always the way, he thought to himself. For some strange reason, whenever someone was at his door his heart would leap at the hope that there was a certain braided American on the otherside of the wood. However, each time he opened it, it was like he had opened a trap door in his body, sending his heart plummeting down. It was never him, never the one he wanted it to be so badly that it was a constant ache. It hurt him so much when he saw Duo turn and walk away after the war, so much so that he hid himself. Severed all reminders of the Deathscythe pilot. He couldn't bear the rejection each time he thought about it.
the first couple of years the pain became too much and he would go out drinking. Using the alcohol to numb himself into oblivion, so he wouldn't remember anything. Of course, that strategy did have its repercussions, the evidence of one of those repercussions was in the other room watching Transformers.the knob, the door swung open and he found himself dreaming, or at least he thought he was. Standing infront of him, with his hand raised as if to knock again, stood a memory. Long chestnut hair was tied back in a rope of silk, black pants, and top clung to the perfectly formed body and violet eyes. The same violet eyes that had haunted him for the past few years. was about to say something when a childlike voice echoed from behind Heero, soon accompanied by a young boy no older than five. His shoulder length hair was an almost shocking white with only a faint blue tinge to it. Stunning cobalt-blue eyes glared at him through long bangs. All in all, without the hair colour and the fairer skin, he could almost look like a mini-Heero. "Who is it otousan?" looked on in amazement as the once so called 'perfect soldier' knelt down to the boys height and spoke softly to him. "Just an old friend, Dante [1]. Go back and watch TV." With a nod of his head, and another glare at Duo, the child disappeared through a door. Seconds later, sounds of his television show filtered out.his shock away for another time, Duo looked up at Heero - who was again staring at him. Clearing his throat, the American looked to where the spot Dante had been moment before. "Dante, unusual name."shrugged. "I didn't name him. Are you going to come in?" yeah, if you're inviting."didn't answer, instead he walked down the hall and back into the kitchen. changed a bit..." He mumbled to himself before closing the door behind him and grabbing his braid and pulling it over his shoulder for support. "Er, nice place." He called out, hoping that Heero would respond so he could follow his voice.Duo looked to the ceiling in silent thanks. He could see Yuy standing over a stove when he entered. Another surprise, he never thought Heero could cook, although, a little voice in his head reminded him that how else was the Japanese ex-pilot supposed to eat if he didn't cook?a seat." Heero gestured to a small set of table and chairs in the corner of the room.I......."you start talking, we'll eat first. And then you can tell me what the hell you're doing here."Duo shut up and stared at the table while waiting.was... uncomfortable to say the least. Heero kept his eyes to the plate and Dante glared at Duo for the entire time. Clearing his throat, Duo tried to make conversation. Needless to say, his attempt failed.
from putting Dante to bed, he still felt disbelief run through him as he saw the braided man sitting in his living room. With everything that had happened to him after the war, Dante and Duo turning up on his doorstep were the most unexpected and ultimately wonderful things that had happened to him.you want anything to drink?"shook his head, his braid swinging behind him. "No thanks."himself a scotch, he sat opposite of Duo and waited for him to start.Duo began nervously. "Uh, what have you been up to these past years?"with computers, of course Dante.... Nothing much really. You?"one for uncomfortable silences, Duo jumped right into the conversation. "Well, I've been a bit here and there. I started out with the scrap yard with Hilde, but sold my half to her fiancee. For some reason I got the feeling he didn't like me..... dunno why. So then I did some travelling of Earth - I always meant to thankyou for hacking that money into my bank account. Had a few jobs, sticking to being a mechanic. Been living in New York for the last couple of years, although I do want to move. I was thinking here in Japan.... Dunno yet. You know, I think I've just about summed up my life for the last five years in five minutes."no where in those five minutes have you told me what you're doing here."coughed, "Yeah, well. Heero, is there any chance we can be friends again? I mean, I know I haven't seen you in years but, that's partly your fault. Do you know how damn hard is was to track down where you were? I'm just asking... I just want our friendship back." By this point, he had almost convinced himself that Heero was going to kick him out saying he never wanted to see him again. Heero, on the other hand, was quite taken aback. He never thought he was important enough to Duo for him to actually put the effort in and find him all for friendship. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come. I left it too long." Duo got up to leave. What the hell are you going on about baka? Of course we can still be friends! Shit, the fact that you found me is enough for me to say we've always been friends!"violet eyes widened. "Really?"beautiful smile lit up Duo's face and he pulled Heero into a quick embrace before sitting back down. "So, tell me about this job of yours."conversation went long and Duo was surprised to hear Heero talk so much. However, when the subject turned to Heero's relationship with Dante, Heero got uncomfortable and closed off. The American pushed to get answers out of him, and eventually had a little success. He's my son." answer floored Duo. He was thinking along the lines of adoption or even babysitting. The thought that Heero, *Heero* had a son was the last thing he had expected to hear. "What about his mother?"sad expression flitted across Heero's Asian features. "She... She died not long after his birth."Heero, I'm so sorry."be. I didn't know her very well." The confusion must have shown clearly on Duo's face because Heero blushed a little and continued. " I-I was.. ah, drunk. But I worked with one of her friends and it was that friend that told me that she had died and left custody of Dante to me. Well, I couldn't refuse. I mean, I was responsible for him and..."was a chance to actually have a family of your own." Duo finished for him. looked to the ground and tried to blink back tears. He always wanted a family, and now by some cruel twist of fate Heero had got himself one and in the process lost Duo his hope. There was no way he was going to fit in here, he didn't even know why he had come. The whole mess had just dug up unwanted memories and feelings.Duo!" The braided man looked up from the ground and was shocked to see a worried expression on Heero's face.spaced out on me. I asked you if you if you had a place to stay?"blushed a little, " Um, no. I was kinda hoping I could bunk here tonight and find somewhere tomorrow.... But I don't want to impose so..."put a hand to stop Duo talking, " If you don't mind the couch, then stay as long as you like... How long were you planning to stay?"
"Uh, I didn't really plan, I just kinda came. I don't mean to a problem..."not what I meant." He interrupted again. "I was just thinking that if it's any longer than a month you can take the spare room. Right now it's an office, but it doesn't get used so..."stared in shock, Heero Yuy - the man of one syllable words and grunts - had just *interrupted* him! What was being said took a little longer to sink in. "You want me to live with you temporarily??!" He blurted out before he could stop himself. But the whole thing was just so... Un-Heero like. Heero, on the other hand, was wondering why the Hell Duo looked and sounded so unbelieving.that is what you would like to do then yes."about Dante? Will he mind because I have a feeling he doesn't trust me much." shifted uncomfortably and Duo started kicking himself. He had things going so well, Heero was talking and actually asking him to *stay* and he went and fucked things up again. But he still couldn't keep from being curious about when ever the kid was mentioned, Heero would close up.talk to him. Give him time, he just needs to get used to you."He tried to press but Heero stood up quickly before he continued.late. You'll find some blankets and spare pillows in the closet in the hall, I'm going to bed. See you in the morning."watched the retreating figure as it disappeared into a bedroom. Sighing to himself, he went to gather the mentioned items and set himself up on the couch.
